One of the most impressive lessons I have ever seen in my 51 years. Great teaching and well done by your student.

Thought he did a good job, light and informative. One tip i heard Butch Harmon giving to teaching pros a long time ago was that a pro should never hit a ball in a lesson. He said when you feel like trying to show someone a movement, pick another option like putting them in the position or use a drill instead to reinforce the concept.

You picked the right man for the job, great to see a beginner that's so comfortable on camera and shows that there's nothing embarassing about starting out and will show people thinking about getting into golf that there's nothing to be intimidated about. We all had to hit that first ball. Fantastic results from start to finish - he already hits a ball better than me :)

I asked for a lesson on transfering my weight to my forward leg at the end of my swing ... and now you have given it to me. Thanks. I’ll try this in my backyard first, then take it to the driving range. To complete the cycle I’ll take it to the course.

Well done Mr Fox your doing really well so listen too James and in no time you’ll be enjoying more good golf shots, don’t take any other advice from anyone just yet otherwise you’ll get confused so stick to the basics for now. Well done keep going and enjoying your golf.

That was interesting to see how you approach a first golf lesson. I suppose times have changed but when my uncle taught me to play (many, many, many years ago) he basically worked through Mr Hogans Five Lessons, starting with the grip. All I did for the first lesson was to learn how to place my hands on the club and I didn't hit a single Ball until my uncle was confident that I knew how to hold the club, how to address the ball, how to align my body to the target, how to to take the club away in the backswing and how the downswing worked! Although I made plenty of swings I didn't actually hit a Ball for about a month! I suppose he didn't want me to lose any of his golf balls! After a month I was that desperate to hit a damn Ball I nearly wet myself with excitement, (well I was a youngster)!

Can't see where else to message, any chance of looking at the various golf tags for shot tracking? Good videos, good effort from the big lad learning!

Great video, one question, when talking about loft you hit down on the ball and compress the ball into the matt and I have seen in other video people talk about taking a divot after hitting the ball, which I understand, what puzzles me is when playing a sort par 3 and using a tee, do still hit down on the ball or would this be a more sweeping action, therefore changing the style of swing. I normal play these shots with out a tee. Thanks

Great vlog James..Mr fox is a lucky man having you there from the beginning of his golf journey. He's obviously got good taste as he is wearing a Golfmates tee shirt. Best of luck to mr fox and yourself breaking 100 in Dubai . I'm l👀king forward to the journey.

Great results from the beginner. You can see some of athleticism he has from playing cricket and very good impromptu modification of the beginner's swing by the instructor. It was awesome to see the smile on the beginner's face after he flushed the iron.

James’s it will be interesting to see this pan out as 99 .9% of us then go off start hitting it poorly due to not being natural or ingrained so lose the effect until booking a new lesson. Can you take him past this with regular visits, and if so how quick can his hcp drop?

He may want to look into getting a good pair of stable golf shoes to go with that glove. Shoes are everything to getting that right balance, running shoes have too much give and never seem to support my weight shifts. I can't wait for more on this series!

Hey James, would you consider doing a video on how grip size effects clubhead speed. I'm a old codger that recently switched to Jumbomax ultralight grips to relieve pain I was experiencing in my right hand after playing 27 holes. The grips work and I don't think I have lost any clubhead speed, but I curious since I don't have the equipment to measure it. Keep up the good work, Thanks.

Loving this series. Reminds me of my first time. You talked about grip. I use the 10 finger grip because my pinkie fingers curve severely and it hurts to interlock. Overlap just slides off...so I have had to learn to use the baseball grip effectively

Love it, but shots got worse once you started working on positions. Maybe not during the first lesson? Could discourage most first time golfers to go from not bad to worse. Easy for athletic people to get caught up chasing positions instead of hitting the ball

Needs to get those hands more connected. Maybe you'll fix that in the driver lesson.
@Mr.mallaer5 жыл бұрын
You got him focused on shifting weight, the weight will shift naturally if you just tell him how to swing through the ball, this way his swing is struggling because he is focused on weight shifting. Golf being left handed sport, the focus should be how to swing using left arm which is in dominant position on top of the club. The body will naturally respond in perfect sync. Weight shift happens naturally it’s not something has to be mindful of in a golf swing.

I am 61 and never hit a golf shot until last week when i took my daughter to the golf range. Out of 50 shots i missed probably 5 times, sliced left and right 40 times and hit it good 5 times. You can tell this man has hand eye co-ordination and i have none.
@ryanlovelock802011 ай бұрын
1st shot from you was a bad connection but a good posture position and swing 8 out of 10 swings should hit nice. The second shot was very unbalanced, a hit or miss you could say...4 out of 10 will hit nice
