Jason I know this is off topic but your Granddaddy news was something I truly understand. I was teaching in AZ for 30 years and unexpectedly had to return home to New England to care for my Mother 24/7. Getting help to assist you is definitely a must. I am relieved to tell you after 4 years of caring for my Mom for 4 years she only spent the last 5 weeks in a nursing home. Some of the happiest times and some of the toughest times were during this period. The Cog Hill Farm helped me during this time!! Thank you you so much. ❤Jason I'm a retired nurse. I worked in many departments over the years. One dept was infection control. When you bent the limb over to start a new runner, you put it on/near the wire. Don’t forget cleaning your hands that have touched any fire blight branches before cutting healthy sections. The bleach may be a a bit harsh on your skin if not wearing gloves, but still better to be careful. Looking good and I bet it’s looking great. Neat watching the swarm. Fellow bee keeper here. What usually happens is the swarm will rest in that tree for a day or two and send scouts out to look for a suitable new home. I spray a few drops of lemongrass essential oil inside the swarm catcher box to attract the worker bee scouts. Good luck

I hope all goes well with the problem in your orchard that you fixed. Gardening sure is trial and error and sometimes it just tests one's patience. I had a lemon tree that I grew it was 4 years old this year, I had it in my green house and we had a very very cold winter and it all of a sudden lost all it's leaves and the main trunk died but the off shoot from the lemon tree though it lost all its leaves remained green. I cut the main trunk off so that all the energy can go into the side shoot and re-potted it in a smaller pot and I too hope this will fix the problem. Love peaches and I love how Mildred came to give you love too Jason. Brooke and you and Mary Carl have so much love for your animals and it shoes in the animals. Have a great day.

Hey Jason, the times I have had blight or contagion on my fruit trees was after weird weather patterns of Fire & Ice. Alternating weeks/months of hot humid and moist cold. We'all are going through it together in varying degrees. As a Nurse Farmer I extend my heart to your family. I saw the shape Grandad was in for his 100th Birthday. And I also see what Trauma hijacked from him. Shower him with as much love as you can, Shirley too. The barn is fabulous, Holly & the bees are too. Peaches needs a mattress upgrade! Brooke you are a natural at design! Big Love!

WOW ! We also get fireblight on our cotoneaster hedge. We spray as well as pruning back 10 to 12 inches into healthy tissue. . . . and we live in Calgary, Alberta. Burn the affected branches once they are cut off. Yes, dipping your pruning shears is a pain but once the disease is started, control is necessary. Thank you for sharing your frustration. 🤔 Yes, it also affects other plants like crabapple and mountain ash. Get out the copper sulphate as well.
