Also the taxi drivers who seem to work in tandem with the customs officers who also prey on people as well. When coming in late to Lagos late at night, many people are vulnerable!!!!!!!!

People need to remember what their parents used to tell them when they were kids, "Do not talk to Strangers." I believed this is applicable at Muritala Mohammed's Airport. Only deal with people you have business with, and let them know immediately if you feel that your rights are being violated.

Get down with confidence, enter the airport and put a smile all over your face, joke with them and make sure you have enough coins in your pocket, that worked out fantastically. And a little war face can also help. I can remember the night I entered Naija, I saw their SUGGESTIONS BOX at Murtala Muhammed Airport and sat on top. The trolley lady don't want to take coins from me saying it doesn't worth anything but she want only paper money. They are all cons in that airport.

One of your best advice (and you have many ) I totally followed was from another video …. Go to the bathroom before landing … I went about 40 min before landing and avoided the crowds rushing to go about 15- 30 minutes before .. it truly helped me avoid going at the airport . 😅…. I was able to wash my face and brush my teeth comfortably without a line of people waiting for the bathroom 👍🏼

Hi sassy, I always do the all above that u mentioned. Although, I have a Nigeria phone and a Nigeria wallet. When I get to Nigeria I just switch. I always take small nomination of money for the customs, the would think its a lot of money, buts it's always under 2k but mostly 500 to 800 naira. The most important thing for me is to keep ur eyes on ur passport. Once it's stamped, I check it immediately, while am still in front of the immigration officer. Also make sure it's not swapped to. Nigeria is a place u cannot trust anyone even ur own family ooooo.

Still feel very sad when landing in Naija. We have to change our personality? I absolutely refused to bribe anybody. The "luggage claim supervisor" asked for $50 for no reason whatsoever. I kept asking why several times but he couldn't give any reason. They finally left me alone. I do not have Naija accent anymore after 40 years in US. All travelers just need to have updated/good document to discourage all the nonsense at the outdated airport. TAKE A STAND YA'LL.

These are good tips, but honestly most of them are not Nigeria-specific and are good for _any_ travel destination. The fear of Lagos is frankly overblown, IMHO. As with most interactions with strangers, be friendly but firm at all times and you'll be fine. Just be sure you know the travel rules and never pay them a dime.
@JOA-JADE2 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, perhaps “Lagos fear” is not overblown for those who have been regularly harassed and extorted though. Our rotten value system is a plague in our country. Unfortunately, some of us are more particular about presenting our image well, even if we have to lie about it. We appear to be allergic to truth in our clime. May God have mercy on us all.
@afrocraft12 жыл бұрын
@@JOA-JADE I'm not saying that we shouldn't be honest about the problem. I'm saying that the airport staff are just like bullies: If you are afraid and give in to them, they grow in power, but if you stand your ground and punch back (figuratively speaking o), they run away scared. When they ask me, "Oga, find us something," I just laugh and tell them, "Next time," or "When I come back," but I've never paid them one kobo. Never.
@eniariyoa60782 жыл бұрын
Sorry o! Rubbish about that part where you have to now be conscious of how you speak. Your accent. So if you don't have the local accent or you are actually a foreigner, are they expected to change their accents. All people should be respected and treated the same. A meteor should just land in that airport! The thought of preparing against these issues at MMA is nerve wrecking!
