Hey Dave, couple of things 1) Corn starch slurries only work if you bring the sauce up to a boil 2) when making a crepe tilt the pan to coat the entire pan with one ladle instead of trying to just cover the pan with batter Love the vids would love to see more thanks

For the chicken wing Coca-Cola sauce, you have to boil the sauce again after adding the roux, if you want thicken it up into a glaze. 🙂

That's not how you use cornstarch to thicken things. You need to simmer it. Then it'll thinken. I do want this book now, thanks for sharing!

And for the diet coke pancakes, the syrup wasn't really thick since there wasn't much of any sugar in it. So i suggest using normal coke since it has more sugar and will be hopefully be thicker when reduced

For the coke wings recipe, i suggest instead of mixing in cornstarch. You can take out the chicken and either put it back in the oven or put it in a pan to reduce the sauce to make it more thick. Just be careful because if you are, the sugar might burn and stuff.

With the cornstarch, you have to return it to the heat to get the full thickening action from the starch. Just adding it to the hot liquid will make some of the starch granules swell with water, but you don’t get quite the same results unless you bring it back to a boil. It also becomes cloudy, but after returning to the heat it should clear up

If I don’t want to use all that amount of sugar in coca cola chicken wings recipe, can I just use regular cola that already contain sugar? Also I would recommend to recook this recipe with other flavors such as green apple flavor 🍏 , orange 🍊and other coca cola flavors and see what is the best tasting

I'd use regular Coke. Diet Coke will not reduce to a gooey syrup. You need real sugar. Fake sugar is nasty tasting anyway.

Our local recipes will cook the Cola chicken using wot and stir fry method. The extra sugar is needed to get the sauce caramelize and get that sticky texture To get the sticky sauce we cook it for quite some time to boil the water off and caramelize the sugar then it will become sticky like that

Youd have to cook the sauce from the wings after adding the starch or add it prior to cooking in the oven ... It won't get thick without it being heated WITH the starch in the sauce
