Good video. Still valid in 2024. I only buy vintage Hamilton watches in solid gold cases. A few pocket watches in other brands, but mostly Hamilton wristwatches. I also look for solid gold buckles to go along with them if they were originally issued with a gold buckle. I also have a beautiful 18k Omega from the 50’s. Love them all.

How you estimate how much gold is there in a single watch? Like I saw a nice Tissot Seastar 14k solid gold, which is around 32g full. When you remove the glass, the movement, you're left with what? Around 10g or pure solid gold from the case or maybe less?

The most hideous watch collection I've ever seen. But if you didn't miscalculate and bought below gold value, I guess it's a smart investment. From a horological standpoint though I can imagine why their owners wanted to get rid of them. LOL
