My skin is really similar to yours (though not as clear) and I love celestial, but if you need a little more moisture argan facial oil is amazing, so hydrating and calming and it's rose jam scented 👌🏻 Also with ultrabland for taking off makeup, try using a lot less and when it comes to the eye makeup massage it really gently over your eyes for a minute and you'll literally feel the mascara etc melting off. Then instead of a cloth use the toner/cotton pad combo and it'll come off super easy. Ultrabland can be a pain until you get used to it, but well worth it once you nail it 🌸

Tina Benevento wth I’m just comparing the price, not the quality or ingredients. It doesn’t matter if you work there, i buy from there so I also know the prices, I bought a toner that was like 10 dollars and a cleanser that was like 15, and other products that were under 20$, that’s what drugstore skincare cost, unless you live in a different country

As an esthetician, I must say any mask you apply should cover the skin but be thin enough to see the skin through the product. otherwise you are just wasting product, and some products need oxygen to reach the mask against your skin in order to work well.

Tip: when it’s cold outside you should never put on moisturizer right before you leave the house.. put it on and let it dry completely before going outside or else it will just freeze on your skin and make your face dryer and irritated😅
@DarkestDeeds
@DarkestDeeds 5 жыл бұрын
Moisturizer has a lower freeze point than plain water because it often contains fats and oils (many of which don't freeze completely.) So, unless you're going into extreme low temperatures and wind chills, you're fine. You'd know if your moisturizer was freezing on your face because you'd feel it.

SocietyOutlier they might have oils and fats but they are usually water or gel based...it summer rn so none of this is even relevant but temperatures where this could happen isn’t rare at all. Especially this past winter with the polar vortex and all that and just general cold weather And at the very least, going outside in extremely cold temperatures will definitely make the product harder to absorb properly into your skin. So yea, sounds like something legitimate people should watch out for🤷🏾‍♀️
@DarkestDeeds
@DarkestDeeds 5 жыл бұрын
@@nairabee245 Naira Bee I work in Nebraska and travel to Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, and North Dakota. You don't have to tell me how cold winters can be. During winter I regularly work outside in negative temperatures. A lot of us apply moisturizers and lotions to our faces, lips, and hands before going out just because the cold can cause excessive dryness. In three years I haven't met someone who was struggling with any moisturizer brand freezing on them. Could it happen? Maybe. Is it common? No. If this was a common occurrence, there would be loads of complaints and questions about freezing moisturizer. There would be products that advertise how they don't freeze in cold temperatures. Also mentioning that moisturizers don't fully absorb. They are supposed to help form a protective barrier to retain moisture in the skin. And, the human body negates some of the cold temperature with natural heat. For safety and skin protection, people should definitely switch to moisturizers with low water content. Thicker oil based products provide better protection in sub zero temperatures.
@nairabee245
@nairabee245 5 жыл бұрын
SocietyOutlier yea your work history in certain states in America was completely unnecessary you’re doing too much. Im in Nebraska 9 months out of the year yet didn’t feel the need to tout that as some winter experiencing expert. It can get pretty cold outside, that’s it😂. and you say people should switch to thicker oil based moisturizers for protection. Duh. I wasn’t talking about future use or recommendations. A significant portion of moisturizers are water based so walking outside and your moisturizer (not oil based product) will do nothing for you as far as protection and (completely freeze might be an exaggeration) but instead becoming stiff on your face is something that definitely could happen. About forming a protective barrier instead of absorbing, again this isn’t a hard and fast rule just like moisturizers have different bases (usually water based as its the very first ingredient) and assuming like u said people put it on and walk aside, I doubt there did anything else but slap moisturizer on so before that there’s no moisture to retain. The moisturizer is the moisture and it’s often meant to absorb. Not that these things are mutually exclusive. It can absorb and still form a protective moisturizing layer. So yea walking outside in freezing temps and having just put on a (probably) water based moisturizer will become stiff on your face. Also problems can exist with them being explicitly advertised? No one puts doesn’t freeze on their bottle but it’ll be like buzz words like fast absorption, or moisturizing barrier etc.

you should be using toner and a serum everyday in addition to moisturizer bc moisturizer locks in the moisture you get from your toner and serum, as well you should not be using that much mask bc many masks need oxygen to work and you should slightly be able to see the skin, plus your wasting all of that product. The serum and toner should help your dehydrated skin!!

Not to be one of those people who tells you what you’re “doing wrong”, I think you’re on the right track! Just curious if you’ve ever researched glass skin before? It saved my dry skin, and it’s a more excessive method for skin care, but it’s so worth it. Learning to layer products based on their base ingredients to get maximum benefits is what it’s all about, hence the idea of using water based serums then heavier products. Hylaronic Acid serum and then moisturiser will help you get that plump, dewy skin, as well as the types of face wash you use. Since you have sensitive skin, the type of exfoliant you use really matters too. I used to use the scrubs intended for gentle skin and it still wrecked me. When I started using chemical exfoliants, my skin reacted so much better, and my acne cleared better. I’d 100% recommend lactic acid from the ordinary brand and for acne, the ufo oil from Sunday Riley. Two excellent dry skin acne solutions! And the Oatfix mask from lush lol. Thanks for the great video on lush!!

The essential oils in your skincare could be causing your dryness. The underlying issue would be a compromised skin barrier. Would be hard to say which oil specifically though. Essential oils are common allergens and yeah the redness in this vid doesn't look like Lush is helping.

@@Jackie-lj2ts I'm a massive skincare nerd. Having done endless readings on journals and studied in my free time. I personally would not recommend Lush. It will be fine for some, but problematic for a large number of people. Fragrances, natural or synthetic, are among the most common irritants for facial skin (not guaranteed, just common). Plus, Lush is really expensive for what you're getting. If ya have any questions I'm happy to help or direct you to some useful resources/KZbinrs. :)
@GO-sz1nv
@GO-sz1nv 5 жыл бұрын
@@Jackie-lj2ts And, some people do find clays too drying. Depends on your skin. But masks tend to be a transient and superfluous solution. I still mask as a treat but there are active ingredients that can be incorporated into daily routines for consistent benefits. I used to get really bad adult acne and would get crazy dark spots even if I didn't poke at them. But my skin has been perfectly clear for months.

Hey love, a lot of times a lack of moisture can be really really helped by the addition of hyaluronic acid. hyaluronic acid is basically like this little molecule that holds a ton of water but it's small enough that it goes into your skin so it takes the water with it and slowly releases at through the day everybody and their mother makes hyaluronic acid serum just look for someone that uses a natural preservation system.

i think you might need a little less ultrabland every time you use it! i used to put on tons and because it was so heavy it took me ages to remove. it's really oily, but that means you can get away with using just a little bit because it spreads so well! i use a very thin layer of the product and simply wipe it off with cotton pads sprayed with toner, and it's one of the quickest ways of cleansing i've found (i actually use it mostly as a cleanser when i'm too lazy to actually wash my face in the mornings). really lovely video, thanks for your thoughts on it!

I use to strictly use Lush for face products, and if it helps, I switched to more AB(Asian Beauty) products and kept Skindrink and face scrubs(Let the good times roll, herbalism, and buche de noel). I started using a ceramide toner that hydrates and repairs and protects moisture barrier and its 500 ml for 8-12 USD which is an insane amount for that price considering lush toners are small amounts and expensive. After 1.5 months of using before bed and in morning(which has barely used an 1/8th of it), I dont have to use skindrink every day anymore. My skin feels and looks so much more hydrated!! I have thin, translucent, sensitive acne prone VERY DRY skin. Its my holy grail. If you or anyone struggles with dry skin or combination, try a ceramide toner and you wont be disappointed.

One time I put on a lush mask called magnaminty. I put on the timer and I accidentally put the timer on for 10 hours and I waited for 2 hours until i realized my mistake. Surprisingly my skin still seem to be fine after taking it off.

I keep my skin/ makeup routine very minimal, as in only lush cleansers and no makeup whatsoever. My skin used to break out when I was a senior, but it’s been 4 years since I’ve worn makeup and my skin is so healthy. I also occasionally use coconut oil if my face is feeling dry and I have an aloe plant that I use instead of sunscreen. It works wonders. Read your ingredients and look them up!

Babe, love this video! As an ex LUSH employee: try to exfoliate way less! It will def help with your sensitive skin. I would recommend using a milky/creamy one for every day and the LUSH cleanser just 2 times a week or so. It helped me, and it seems like our skins are alike! Also, I have a totally different question: do you use the Dermalogica precleanse also for removing eye make up? Have been wondering this for years! Love from Amsterdam :)

If you have a problem with dry skin, coconut oil is an amazing makeup remover and it’s so much cheaper than the Lush remover. It works basically the same, and since I’ve been using it my dry skin has basically gone away and it feels so soft. Idk how oily/combination skin would react to the oil as it is kind of heavier

What was the lip mask you mentioned it sounded so so familiar and I'm sure I used to use it (I've just come back to lush after a few years break from any self care when I became disabled) but I can't find anything in the form of lip mask on our UK site, has it gone? I'm torn between going for ultrablend and honeytrap when carer takes me in store

I use either the breath of fresh air toner or the tea tree one every day before I put on my moisturizer. the breath of fresh air one is super hydrating. sometimes after it dries I forget to put on moisturizer because my skin already feels moisturized.

The burts bees coconut oil smooth and restore lip balm is a super good nighttime lip balm, lip gloss, and lip gloss! It lasts a really long time on the lips too, i put it on before bed and when i wake up i still have some on my lips, and i use the eos vanilla bean balm under it or during the day, and i had chapped lips from wintwr and now its spring and my lips are sooo smooth and hydrated. Just drink slme water or tea dueing the day and twice a week do a sugar scrub or u can use some oil on ur lips and a wet warm wash cloth :) hope that helps!
