Wow, the first bakery did an amazing job. For the second, I guess lemon and lavender made them think of Italy so they went for a leaning tower of Pisa look 😀They need to have a look at the Cake Rescue series from How to cook that, that would be pretty helpful.

I actually covered my eyes when Raphael sat on the chandelier, thought that was going to end in disaster and he would end up with bits of chandelier in places it should never go! The five star cake was amazing, we will just forget about that other one. Great vid, thankyou.

Imagine this is your wedding day... so yeah, this was my wedding day experience. The cake we ordered tasted amazing, but the top two tiers slid off while they were setting it up and they had to partially re-frost and re-pipe on it. The cake itself inside was fine, but they definitely didn't think through structure and their rush to present something caused us to end up with something that looked like a child frosted it.

The last half of your video pretty much demonstrates how my day goes some days. You order a lemon lavender cake and they give you a vanilla flavored cake, half tipped over, until it eventually falls on the floor. But I loved the video just the same 🙂.

So happy to see these back! I love the cake series! I learned the hard way that a cake with more than one tier cannot be too moist. It has to be able to hold weight. Yes you will be putting in dowels for stability, but if the cake is too moist it will do what you saw today. I was kinda bummed at the cakes bc years ago on Ace of Cakes I saw Duff actually make these cakes that hang from the ceiling and have things hanging from the cakes itself almost like a chandelier. He could have actually done an all edible one. However, it would have been insane cost wise.

the one star bakery didn't put a thin cake board between the layers they only stuck skewers in it, that's why it collapsed even with the cake being extra fluffy a thin cake board between the layers would've stopped the collapse,( my mom was a baker)

The second cake had too many layers & not enough internal support. I make lots of cakes for people in my family. You have to make sure the cake has enough internal supports, which are usually wooden dowels. Also, I don't know that plastic decorations are sanitary to put on a cake. You also got a pretty good deal on the 5-star wedding cake. I thought it would have been more than $500. The chandelier you designed was beautiful!! Love your videos!!!

I was thinking about the base. A clear lucite table with clear legs to hold the cake with beaded strands under it as the chandelier. More stable to use a table. Very interesting experiment! I had a homemade chocolate tier wedding cake and it had reusable plastic tier rods not dowels. The top layer should be saved for the couple to wrap up and freeze to have on their 1st anniversary!

I love how much Raphael knows about cakes. Didn't he say his mom is a professional cake maker? I think he did before in a past video. So he knows a lot about this kind of thing. He grew up around it. Raphael got this idea from brushing his teeth! That's so funny. It looks like delicious cake... Well the five star bakery does! What happened to the poor one star bakery cake? It totally fell over.
