I'm 31 and only got my driving license in November last year but I love and adore cars since my childhood. I was 4 years old when my dad put me on his lap and let me turn the steering wheel while driving at a very low speed. This video made me remember that moment and how glad I am to have a dad to let me do it because without that first time probably I would not be that much into cars. I loved every second of this video and it is just undescribable to me how it makes me feel. I have never ever seen anything like this before and makes me glad just thinking that an internal combustion engine on 4 wheels, throughout history created such an amazing community and connects people from different places around the world even if there is war and hatred in other places. Unfortunately from where I'm from, such an incredible gathering seems to be impossible but it makes me happy watching you guys. I take off my hat to all of you who managed to create Mattwood. Alex, you are one of a kind and you should be cloned. When it's needed you can be funny and also be a bit annoying (but in a positive, funny way) but when the time comes and others need your help, you literally overdo anything and exceed expectations. I think you belong to the rest of the car community heroes who inspire us to just go for a drive without a destination in mind, just be with our car. Yeah, long comment... the video made me emotional and remembered me why I love cars and to who I need to thank for that.

And to see it all set up in such a short amount of time is a testament that people can be a force for good sometimes. Although I must admit, I'm a little disappointed not to see at least a short video from Clarkson and May, they had the connection through Hammond and Mike Fernie and there's no way they didn't ask for one, wonder why they didn't get one.

Alex, as a progressing survivor, I am completely blown away. I truly believe you changed young Matt’s life. I know how hard his diagnosis is. In 2019, my doctor found a tumor in the back of my mouth after I lost my voice. What I though was a simple case of bronchitis quickly turned into an emergency. I was rushed to surgery in Dallas Texas where they removed my soft palate and half of my hard palate. (Almost the entire roof of my mouth) As of last Monday, April 10th, 2023, we have completed 21 surgeries! I was 46 when my journey started so I wanted to share my story with young Matt. If an old redneck from Texas can keep it going, Matt will soar like an eagle. For everyone, live every day like its your last, you never know what’s around the corner. Stay strong Matt. Alex my friend, y’all are freaking awesome over there!

This... THIS is the beauty of the car community. thank you so so much Alex for this. i can't even describe in words what this means. well, not only to Matt and his family, but to everyone else in this amazing hobby and lifestyle we all share. This act of absolute selfless and kindness.. this sense of community is what brings us all together as one. we are all different.. we come from different backgrounds, with different problems and different struggles. but this is what unites us. our love for anything on wheels. be it fast as hell, clapped out, slow, classic and beautiful, raw straight-line power or form over function. it doesn't matter what twists your bolts. our love and passion is all the same. This video, and Matt as an extension serves as a beacon of hope for all of us. Time is our most finite resource, but the fact that so many decided to spend that time supporting Matt and this hobby really goes to show how we are all more than just "car guys". we're a family, and we always will be. Cheers to Alex for making this happen. And god speed to Matt, wherever you may be, or may go, we'll all be there with you!
