Honestly, the @AutoAlex multiverse is the fresh of breath air we all needed in the automative media. They are just a random bunch of guys (most of whom came together a while back, but they all came from random backgrounds nonetheless) who just love cars, and they share that passion together, and showing us all that you can enjoy a car even if it is a shit box (for lack of a better terminology). I used to love my '98 Polo, you can have fun in any car you want to have fun in. @MightyCarMods is the first automotive YT channel I followed as a teen, and I grew up with it, I still follow it. AutoAlex brings about the same aura - just normal dudes having fun with what they love doing. A shoutout to @MatArmstrong as well. Personally, these 3 channels are the holy trinity of automotive KZbin. I wonder if any of these guys realise how much they help their viewers in different ways!

I went to Shedfest earlier this year, and I was not aware of the problems people had getting in until I saw it on the auto Alex channel. Really looking forward to the 2025 Shedfest, for my purely selfish point of view, it was the first time I had been to Mallory Park, since May 21, 2001. I think it was 2:06 in the afternoon when I crashed my bike during a race at the Cascades complex, which is a fast right then left before you go up to the hairpin. I crashed on the right handler. I broke ribs two, three and four, smashed my shoulder blade into three bits, I dislocated my right shoulder, broke my radius bone took a triangular a piece of bone out of it. I had to have my elbow rebuilt and a 6 inch plate in my radius bone. Oh yeah, and I punctured my lung. Funny really, it wasn't the crash that did it. It was the bike that was coming up behind me hitting me in my back right shoulder. Folding me in half and he didn't even have the decency to knock me out! Two weeks in hospital followed by a few months of not being able to use my right arm properly. That is why I actually went to that part of the circuit, which has now been changed, possibly for safety reasons? Anyway, regardless all that when can I book my tickets for the next Shedfest? I remember talking to my girlfriend at the time when it was Ethan Jack and Alex. I consider them along the lines of the holy Trinity. Alex being a bit along the lines of the Clarkson figure, Ethan, the closest thing to a sensible type (James May) and Jack being the one left over, so I guess he had to be Richard Hammond. I was a little bit put out when you were dissing the over 50s lot. I am one of those over 50s, actually I'm 58 but that just means I have had a lot more time messing about with cars and motorbikes and I am more and more obsessed every day as my girlfriend (now ex-girlfriend) will tell you. She was always telling me I was ordering too many parts for cars and spending too much time on them, and we have to have money to eat. Since she has left, I spend a lot less on food and a lot more on cars I'm considering buying a third car, which will be the first time I have actually own three at one time, just because… I'm thinking of buying a Nissan leaf with a shitty battery and plug it in in the communal garden outside my first floor flat. Whatever happens, make sure there is at least one Shedfest type event next year, loving the auto Alex Multiverse, all the best for the future.

Think Carly is great, but it concerns me that it could encourage people to just keep blindly resetting. Garages keep doing it too. My dad had a 2004 Toyota RAV 4 that he had an accident in - a car hit the right front wheel, heavily damaging the suspension and bodywork. My dad had it fully repaired at local repairer that his insurers sent it to. All good - ish. The engine management light kept coming on, along with the warning lights saying the abs and traction control weren’t working. His Toyota dealer kept saying it was just environmental control blah blah, kept resetting it, blah blah. I was adamant they were totally wrong and he should take it to different dealer. He took it to an independent dealer for its major service and mentioned the problem. The garage rang him later in the day to ask him if the car had been in an accident. When he asked why, they explained he’d looked at brake discs and pads, noticed some trim that had been badly fitted. They then put two and two together, and replaced the abs sensor on the front right. Which was bad,y cracked in two places. And tripping the system out meaning no abs and no traction or stability control.

I suppose the idea of running out of content eventually is a bit daunting. But at the same time they’re only filming using the 💩 boxes that are available currently. As time goes on some of the cool more modern cars will have depreciated enough that they’ll be at the same level of 💩 box as some of the cars Auto Alex has had on their channel. And those newer cars will have their own unique characteristics and flaws that the team can exploit. Plus places and destinations change over time so doing a top gear style challenge in one place today has the potential to be totally different in 10 years time

I do wish people would leave the whole "Top Gear Trio / Holy Trinity" thing alone. No one will replicate that level of magic and so many have got caught up in chasing that, including the BBC themselves. It'll never work - you should really want to get out of their shadow and not focus on "recreating x, y, z" by travelling to the same destinations. It's never as good as the first time around - you're not Top Gear / the Grand Tour and trying to carry that off is too much of a burden, regardless of how many views you get on KZbin; you'll never be satisfied. The budget, the production value etc - you'll never match all that as a TY channel. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer, but if we're moving into a different era then "content creation" should also move to try and make the subject matter original wherever possible, rather than a pastiche of something people have already seen and love - it's like trying to repaint the Mona Lisa.
