Max (the dev) thinks he's hilarious. He's had a really great relationship with a number of 'tubers, they all have easter eggs in the game -- that they discovered while playing, it's been sweet. I think they have "beta build access for life" stamped on their accounts. Josh alone is so delightful if you give him physics and collision, especially if there are any edge cases not pinned down. Co-op stuff is a lot of fun to work with as it has physics and collision that need to be mirrored between 2+ players, and that's before you start kicking down doors with your partner on the other side. Physics engine says kick is going 50kmph, door is breaking at 50kmph, now your friend is traveling across the map at 50 kmph XD

It's a great habit for a game youtuber go be in, several of my favourite uploaders do the same. It means I don't have to go looking for a different video before I can watch this one, and bringing everyone to the same page so Josh can start his narrative staircase of doom together works best.

Not only for this game, but for all the games he plays unless it's an on-going game like Satisfactory where he only explains new stuff. Showing the audience how things works serves a few different purposes in Josh's case. First, it brings every viewer up to speed on how the game works. Second, it shows people how long it takes to do certain things so we can properly appreciate his madness. Third, it gives us a taste of what we can expect in the minutes to come (his sense of humor, his playstyle, the pacing, etc).
