Loved this video, it’s so interesting to see the common themes in the books on your tbr! ❤️ The Book Thief is my fave book of all time! I’ve re-read it a few times and I wouldn’t say it’s fantasy - Death is the narrator, so just like another character’s view. So don’t let that put you off reading it, but be emotionally prepared! 🥹

When God Was A Rabbit is such a lovely (and heartbreaking) book. I read it a long time ago but it still sits with me, and Sarah Winman has become my favourite author by virtue of her four novels. Tin Man is my favourite book of all time 🌻

When your video notifications arrive, I get an instant smile. 😊 Maybe you are like me, and don’t want to read those sad, depressing books. I stay away from unhappy endings on purpose. 😂 Do what feels right! I’m reading Anne of the Island right now! I made the mistake of watching Anne With An E on Netflix first, so I’m struggling because the books are extremely different. But still enjoying it.

Thankyou Ciara. I am new to your channel but enjoyed hearing about your TBR. I must say that Milkman was a book I hated so much as was Cleopatra and Frankenstein.. one of only two books which I never finished. The other was Ulysses by James Joyce. One of the best books I have read in the past year was Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The characters were some of the quirkiest and most lovable I have met in my reading travels... even the dog.

Heyy Ciara - so good to see you - Ive read every single Agatha Raisin books and I really would recommend you start at the beginning with The Quiche Of Death - they’re definitely books where you get to know all the characters as the series goes on - some are really funny and good and some are meh! However I will say just the setting is just so cozy ( The Cotswolds ) . Yes they are really far fetched but they’re nice easy reads and fun xx I read the House on the Strand as part of yours and Sarahs A-Z of classics readathon and if it wasn’t for you guys I’d never of even heard of that Daphne Du Maurier book - Its not for everyone , but I absolutely LOVED it x x Enjoy reading your shelves - I must do the same !! Xx Glad your back x

Hahah The Quiche of Death sounds hilarious! I think I took A Spoonful of Poison from my mum so didn’t realise there was a dull series, but will definitely make sure to get to them in the right order!

@@ciarascorner the characters are hilarious - sir charles being one of my favs … the only one I haven’t read is the very last one . I didn’t read it because it was written by someone else as MC Beaton died a few years ago now … As I say they’re definitely not great pieces of literature but they are most fun …Ive read at least 17 of them twice a few Ive felt were really weak and books written just to fulfil a contract . I hope you enjoy reading them , they’re just nice cozy mystery fillers for in between , a brain cleanser if you like xx 😘

I love hearing about all your books! I have a similar amount on my TBR. In addition to a compelling, non-linear storyline, Black Cake does, indeed, contain wonderful foodie bits about the baking of the culturally significant cake! It may make you want to attempt to bake a vegan black cake, which I would love to see! 😍

I feel like fiction books that really dive into the role foods can play in life/culture are few and far between so I’m excited to read that one and, who knows, maybe I will be inspired to veganise black cake!

Hi Ciara!! I must say… 80 books to read is not very much, as I have 200 😅 counting like, graphic novels, non fiction, novels… it was actually 199 but I bought one last week. No more books! I don’t know, there are books in my shelves for the next four years. But the worst is that i work in a library that has everything 😅 such a temptation… I will be reading soon Anne of Avonlea, I want to keep on the series, Anne of green gables is such a heartwarming classic… I have read The Secret Garden and it was not what I expected… maybe I was too old for it but that book was, well, okay but nothing more. I actually don’t like Taylor Jenkins Read books, but i’ve only tried the last ones, not the romance ones, should check that out. And omg! I went to Nice on vacation last year!! It’s a lovely place, I really loved it. It has cultural places (I recommend to visit the orthodox cathedral), there is the beach… be careful with the beach, there are rocks, no sand at all. Have a lovely vacation and good luck to read all of your books 😊

I've read some of those. I happen to very much like Nathenial Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter, in particular the way he develops an alter ego to narrate the story. The Green Mile too is a favorite, though I don't find it painful at all. Actually, as I read it I find myself wondering how accurate are the facts that the captain of the prison guards imparts. Having seen the movie certainly you're aware of the highly unlikely nature of the events, which should trigger our unreliable narrator alarms. Additionally, the book goes deeper into the captain's life, who is possibly as much a main character as is the unfortunate prisoner he befriends.

Per the Classics... Read Toni Morrison's Song of Solomon as it is not as bleak as Beloved. It still has deep themes, and I think it is better, in my top 10. I highly, highly recommend it. Yes, Tess is depressing but I have liked everything by Hardy thus far. I think Scarlet Letter is more inspirational than depressing (your own feelings and opinions, what you love and mother's devotion is more important than what other people think). Yes, Joe Hill is Stephen King's son. I read about 20 pages of that book and frankly I couldn't tell the difference between King and Hill. Salem's Lot is early Stephen King; the book is better than the movie. The Book Thief is a really good book. Not a fantasy, but Historical Fiction. A tear-jerker.
