Thanks. I've been driving Bolts for almost six years now. I charge from my paid off PV system so it hasn't cost me anything for electricity or gas. It's a great car too, no real problems and tons of fun to drive.

we have your mentality, we have two 2014/2015 Diesel Q5s for travelling and for bad winter driving conditions (with hitches for trailering or Bikes) 40 MPG highway *USA , 30 City. Keeping those as long as we can! Bolt EV supplements our commuter/ everyday driving - it's Grrrreeat! Our son "borrowed" our 2014 Chevy Volt (Gas.EV) for school out of State- and we have never scene it since! 😆

My Prius had regen brakes, and I made sure to use the hydraulic brakes well at least once per drive, or the calipers can seize, drag, and cost a lot to fix. I always have seperate winter tires on wheels, so I can change them when I want, and I do a caliper service each time (lubing the sliders and pushing back the pistons), to keep everything from seizing. Since I started doing this, I've not had to replace calipers on any car. My Prius is sold, and I'm impatiently waiting for my '23 Bolt ev to arrive.

Am I correct that you can pre-condition the car with it plugged in, so you don't drain the battery doing it?
@tlister67 Жыл бұрын
The not enough electricity argument ignores economics. We can see from about a decade that eV adoption is a gradual ramp. Any gradual increase in electricity will be delivered just like any consumer demand. Charging can be done at night, which is ideal as demand peaks in the day. Solar, wind and grid storage are coming too, but they too are on a slow ramp. Infrastructure based on gasoline is huge, but as it ages it will be replaced with electric. It will take 30 years or more.

Planning on buying a Bolt to replace our Leaf (we need more range) wondering how many times you’ve had your Bolt in for service and how much it costed. Thanks
@daryledean2 жыл бұрын
I have had the bottom area cleaned once, as it was required by my extended warr. That cost $150. I had my batteries replaced for free, and I've spent about $60 on cabin air filters I installed myself. Thats all Ive spent. Never needed any servicing.
@confoojed2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info. I also replaced my cabin air filter. I haven’t had a service either, but I’ve only had my Leaf for 10 months.

Wondering what's the reduction in range in winter if you use your heater/AC a lot(In Ontario)? Thx. Am looking at a new Bolt EUV. Thx.
@daryledean2 жыл бұрын
Winter does lower the range. It depends on how often you put heat on. Im not sure how the EUV works with Heat, but if I drove with heat on constantly, I would take my range to about 300km (from 600 km with not using heat) Ontario and BC are about the same for months of winter.

I couldn't agree more. All the LUDITES will complain till they have no choice. I love my Bolt EUV and I can charge at home on110 volts. No problem.

i think he means preconditioning the battery before charging to get optimal charging.
@daryledean2 жыл бұрын
Ah, well I can tell you, I've never pre-conditioned anything to get better charging. Im not even aware how to.
@nathandingman6846 Жыл бұрын
Preconditioning is turning on the car with heat or ac on while car is plugged in and charging thus not using the main battery battery power
@mts982 Жыл бұрын
@@nathandingman6846 thats preconditioning the cabin, some cars have preconditioning of the battery for optimal charging before you plug it in.

California and China don't want you to charge your EV's because of power outages and Europe is not far behind. This can't help EV sales.

I haven't seen your other videos tbh but how do you get 611km per charge? Now, my 2020 Bolt still has the battery that needs to be replaced, but you are getting about 100 miles per charge more than me. I am jealous. :D I put my car into a mode where it does more regeneration whereas my wife uses the brakes more than I do, and I like to let it do most of the braking for me. I have taken my bolt on a drive 4 miles away and you do have to plan out it takes about an hour to fully charge so I needed to just go get a meal instead. We do have a minivan for our longer trips if we drive too far.
@daryledean2 жыл бұрын
Hey James, thanks for your comment. So, the other 4 videos show a bunch of stats, and they created a bunch of questions, which is why video 5 was created. And, yes the new batteries give me 100 additional KM's (not miles) It is great. I drive mine like crazy, but only daily stuff. Im about to drive to an appointment 1 hr from here, and 1 hr back. Check out my other videos for the stats of how much gas $$ I have saved in 4 years. Cheers.
@jekutube92 жыл бұрын
we drive pretty efficiently on our 2020 Bolt 4.4/KwH X 66 =290 Max. Miles is our experience in decent weather where A/C doesn't have to be used. If A/C had to be used 15/20% reduction - Heat 25% reduction, we try to use heated seats as much as possible and steering wheel, but comfort is key to driving pleasure.
@appleiphone692 жыл бұрын
I’ll make a comment when gas goes up to $5/gallon. 😂 I added 136 miles of range and it cost me $7.34. A 20mpg truck would cost $34. Who is snickering now FOOL?! More money for savings and investments that will grow and grow with compound interest.

Well, in my video 3 kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6arpaOIiqeqZqc. I show the room in back, a box the size of 4' x 5' x 2' 4" can be placed in the back with the rear seats down. And also, you could place items in the front pass seat, so to answer your question, you could put "Lots" of groceries in.

You can use solar panels at home to help charge

Very true, that would eventually result in free driving. (or really low cost)
