I'm building my website myself at the moment. I've come to the conclusion that unless your business is medium size at least or your website is the only way you are bringing clients in. Then it's not worth getting a very expensive one.
@WesMcDowellInc3 жыл бұрын
That's true. There's no need to actually have a very expensive website from the get-go. Anyway, you could improve your website anytime when your business starts to get big. But never forget to build your email list. 😉

My Fiverr website experience was not good. I even got a notification from Google that the site had issues. The guy totally phoned it in. Random photos that had nothing to do with my service, tiny print and corny slogans, boasting 'we're the best' descriptions. He even blocked me making modifications to the site by blocking me in the code. I had to follow a video to undo the block. But it was better than waiting on the phone for customer service. And, I learned a little bit about tracking down code. Set me back $150.00. I let it go because I just wanted it over. I didn't want to be involved with tedious corrections. If somebody messes up your drywall or painting do you want to trust them again? I'm still having problems with my site.

Yes $100 is cheap by Western (USA and Europe) standards because the cost of living is so much greater. We earn a minimum of $150 a day. In Pakistan, India or Philippines they earn between $20 and $30 a day. Everythings relative. You be angry at some of the offerings had it been charged at the per day rate in the West. Make them do a good job for the equivalent of 3 days pay.

Hey Wes. So I was wondering if this seems like a legit side hustle...im an American. I've designed 2 websites using Wix templates and customized them for my needs. They both evolved to look very different from the original templates I chooses (each website was a different template) and for all intent and purpose, I would call them my originals. What Im considering doing is contacting small businesses that don't have a web presence and offering to design a Wix website using a template and charging $500. By no means am I a professional designer, but I do believe that I can offer something that is aesthetically nice and give the business that online presence that can benefit them in the long run. In your honest opinion do you think that this is something that I can do as long as I:m forthcoming and advise my potential client im using a template? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

how were you making 10 grand off of a website? I'm just starting freelance and I'm doubting of asking more than 25 bucks for a landing page similar to this one :\
@WesMcDowellInc3 жыл бұрын
Because I wasn't just "making a website." I was doing in-depth discovery with my clients to figure out how we can create the type of website that would actually get them more clients/customers on autopilot. If you're not providing a strategy like that, then you won't be able to charge much, you're right.

Purely static websites with a strategy behind them. The high price point had nothing to do with the tech involved, just solid marketing principles designed to bring them more business. If you can do that, then you can justify charging a lot - because you're helping them MAKE money.

@@WesMcDowellInc I'm curious about this question too. I would rephrase it as: How can we determine the value of a 10,000 website vs a 100 website like this? For the average person, why would you buy a 10,000 website over a great 100 one like this?
@WesMcDowellInc3 жыл бұрын
Ok, I understand... basically, this $100 bought us a Wordpress designer/developer to simply create a nice looking website. Where the big bucks come in, is creating the strategy BEHIND the site - the content, the pages, the flow of information, the persuasion and psychology principles that will make a client want to work with you. So as long as you can come up with all that strategy and bring it to the $100 designer, they can bring it to life for you at a great price. But at the end of the day, lets not forget... that's pretty much the extent to what they bring to the table at that price. And if they WERE to bring more value than that, they should be charging a heck of a lot more for their expertise :)

Yes they did... as stated, there are 5 rounds of revisions, and I also made it clear that you'll need to check all content yourself at this price point, and make sure they fix it, or do it yourself (which is why I recommend having it done with Elementor, which makes it easy to do that.) I'm in no way saying this finished site is flawless - only that it's a pretty good starting point if you're on a tight budget.

For that cheap a price, how realistic is to to expect everything to work, when you and the website builder you hired part ways? I'm new to this, and it seems like most of the things should work right? But how far do you go with this? Some things don't seem to resolve quickly? And how many hours can you expect from some foreign guy paid cheap to do for a $100 to 200 dollar website? ... I've run into a few issues using a web builder on fiver. And I could use advise on what to expect, and how to be fair with them. There are still some problems that aren't finished yet. And I want to be fair to this person, but also to myself.
@GamerSolitO2 жыл бұрын
it comes down to 2 things: 1) what would have that cost you if you would have hired someone in your local area by charging hourly rate? if those hours, were lets say 4 hours. and you know he's worked 10 already. i would just assume you have a financial problem. 2) whats the standard of living in that persons country/city? if what you pay him only allows to put food on the table, but not profit. Then you are paying him to low. the best feeling in life is when you profit from work. thinkabout that when you ask for more revisions. those 100$ could mean a lot to the person hired. how much are those 100$worth? it will get you clients, earning you way more than 100$ spent. on the flip side: you could take advantage of the ppl that add unlimited revisions, just because its a contract and that what they have to respect, and abide by. they do that to get more clients, specially the beginners on fiver, they are desperate for work and are willing to work for cheap. we could profit from that, by taking advantage of that loophole. it all comes down to ,how you feel? do you think you got 100$ dollars worth of a site already? if so, let them breath :)
