I feel like the Value of that subscription comes less from the videos themselves (that can be found for free), but from the fact that they compile all the videos you need for you and give you a direction. New Players often don't know what they're lacking or what they should be improving and this subscription provides a guideline. And to low-rank players the concepts don't need to be explained indepth, as learning any basic concept would benefit them. There are multiple paid courses on the Internet on things that you can learn by yourself for free, but people buy them, because it gives them a direction and accountability, not necessarily exclusive content.

I payed for skillcapped when I was gold because I thought I saw the value in it, but after all the weird guidelines they set (which isn't mentioned in the video), using skillcapped almost felt like a chore. For example, iirc one of the guidelines was to watch at least 2 hours of content per week (don't quote me). Either way as an ascendant player I understand there is basically no value in skillcapped for anyone over high gold/low plat, it's fs targeted to lower elo players. Either way, great video! Keep up the great content!
@90z79 Жыл бұрын
The smurf content is probably the worst content on the skillcapped site and youtube channel. A high ranked player will simply and objectively have much better passive and subconcious micro-decisions that aren't and often can't be fully explained by the player beyond "Oh, it was good because I knew it was good." So basically, you've made content that is impossible for newer players to replicate, ruined 5 new player's games (or more) and hasn't helped anybody.

I signed up for it almost 2 years ago, the site said it would help you with coaching and that they had a discord. I was iron 3 at the time, so i signed up for it. When I joined up, it was all just videos. I couldnt find any access to a coach, and when I joined the discord, it was only League of Legends. They told me they diddnt have a discord for valorant and diddnt have intentions of making one any time soon. I canceled my subscription, then was charged 3 months for it. The only positive thing I can say is when I canceled and was charged even after canceling was the customer support was good at refunding me the money. Doing what you said, watching a bunch of youtube videos was the play. I grinded up to gold 2, and all I did was watch youtube of pros playing, seeing how they played the agents I mained, and watched some play agents I had trouble playing against so I knew what to do different against them.

Do a video on GameLeap! I personally used their courses for overwatch, over a year ago. I personally really liked it. They had great structures and concept brekdowns for every character, role, "subrole" and map. They even had courses on mentality, communication and even more. Even tho their youtube vidoes are good i feel like the course just does things more organised and in the right order, so you can focus on a speific concept at a time. So even tho the information might be avalible for free, the paid course deliverd everyting in a way that was easy to soak up. I dont know anything about their valorant course tho, would be fun to see. Great video about SkillCapped anyways!! :)

Of all the Valorant video channels for fundamentals, Skillcapped is the best. When I started playing I subscribed to so many trash channels for Valorant basics and skillcapped is the only one I'm still subbed to. If concepts at higher levels seem lacking or not explained to a depth you'd like it's probably because immortal players aren't the main demographic. The amount of time it would take to break down high level concepts for the percentage of people those videos would help just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. The amount of quality, valuable, bite sized information that can be gleaned from their channel is best and their courses are well thought out and thorough enough to really substantiate their claim to get peolle to rank up to at least diamond. Beyond that it's hoped that you've built enough of a foundation to be able to work out what you need to improve and if not you can get personal coaching

I also feel like the problem is that they are SMURFING they are not playing in their own elo. Their videos are genrally made for a demographic in low elo but people in low elo just aren't as good as the people in high elo. This makes it difficult to replicate the plays that they say to make in their smurf commentaries

tl;dr: Diamond in 30 days decent but maybe just watch the videos here on KZbin and don't pay subscription. If you have a crave for strategy/gamesense _maybe_ reference paragraph 4. 1. Actually someone that paid for the subscription too here. All the points he makes are pretty much true. -Which hits hard, because I was also working on a startup with a similar business model to Skillcapped. I had to let a lot of stuff pass so the higher ups wouldn't cut my head for "losing them money" when I was worried about the quality of the content we were recording.- At least _seems_ like Skillcapped isn't that icky in business practices. 2. Funnily enough the 30 days to diamond series (The one in which they smurf no-comms which is un-ethical and stuff and pretty much doesn't have editing) it's actually really good if you are lower ranked. The host explains really well a lot of the plays, making it easy to grasp the logic of certain situations. But then again... You could just watch the free fully and beautifully edited KZbin videos which summarize the whole run and get value out of that. 3. If you are higher ranked and are more interested in what the pros are doing stuff like this channel, sovereign guides and woohoojin-sensei will service you way better anyway. 4. For the discord server experience... You can ask some of the coaches for advice and othe rplayers as well. Some players may even offer to VOD review for you... But it would be ideal if the actual staff in Skillcapped would make an active effort to try and coach the players above certain ranks.

While I think these videos are great, if you truly want to improve, you'll actually put effort in learning every play you make regardless of whether what you do will give you success or not. I believe with that thing in mind, you'll actually be able to micro analyse yourself and be a better player than most of them who just tend to play the game for the sake of winning.

Ngl I’m peak ascendant 1 and been playing for the past 6 months without any fps background and for me if you want to get better just train something you’re bad at. For example if you have bad aim and movement, focus on improving your aim and movement by playing deathmatch and shooting bots on the range. If you have bad game sense, watch pro plays. And you have to have play for team mindset in order to win more game. Just focus on team winning and don’t play selfish.

Its not just Skillcapped that does this ... alot of the content on KZbin is all Generalized stuff that tends not to help anyone that is even intermediate ... like Silver and up ... because its SO general with no real explanation that its like DUH I know this already. I like to watch coaching specifically Jollz videos when he goes over gameplay vod or live gameplays with higher ranked players so I can see what mistakes are being made and what can be done to fix them, either so I can try to fix my mistakes or never make them to begin with. I play in immortal-ascendant lobbies and from what I can tell, skillcapped and any other paid things like these only helps low elo players like iron to gold/plat. But when you're in that rank, literally anything helps, like just watching videos from high ranking players or even jollztv lol. I think its significantly better to just watch pros/high ranking players and concentrate on why they do this and that. Although, I've never used skillcapped but I've seen a few free vids from them through youtube.
@nicholaschapman88712 жыл бұрын
Their site gives much better guides that they can’t post on KZbin bc they’re not good for KZbin’s algorithm. I’ve been stuck silver for a year and I bought their sub a couple weeks ago. I should hit play tonight. Their course helped me. The videos give much more details and much more examples than youtube could allow bc people wouldn’t watch it due to it being too long and not catchy.
@BUGSYTHEBEAN2 жыл бұрын
That's a really interesting take I did not consider! I agree that they couldn't go too in depth on a topic without losing some audience. However, from the exclusive content I watched I never felt that they were really in depth, but very niche. It was mainly a combination of un-edited videos that had long breaks between learnings or vastly over-simplified concepts, like the rotating or listicle videos.

I felt the same thing. I’ve been subscribed to SkillCapped for a while since I come from League of Legends, and personally their Valorant videos are subpar. You can get the same content for free or even better; while it may have some value on the lower ranks, the higher you go, the less valuable it becomes. I find it annoying to come across the same exact videos I have already seen on KZbin but worse. They take the exact video and divide it into lessons, essentially just partitioning the already good content they had and make the subscribers go through extra clicks and pauses for absolutely no reason.

My troughs on coaching some good some not. The most things make no sense that some coaches they teach Silver gold players how to counter strafe. These players need to learn in this rank how to play their agent right use util right and an how to counter strafe. The way to learn is warm up and play alot. I asked so many pros how to get better all of them say play lot to get more consistent and confident. The most players in rnaks like gold to plat dont no how to jumpspot. But for me the best tip is play a lot dont care about your rank and dont think about what you team mates doing

This is the reality: All videos of improvements on youtube (Free) are actually enough for even a decent player to rank up. You dont need these paid coaching or VOD reviews unless you are a pro where I just assume players have to do these to be better than the best opponents in the game. But from iron to ascendant you dont actually need any of these coaching but to play the game. Dont worry about rank and just play for entertainment as the purpose of game is for entertainment. Silver or diamond is not a pro elo that you will need to stress and pay for these subscriptions. For very minority of people these paid things might work, but remember the word MINORITY. Instead go out and spend these $10 or $50 on something useful in real life. No offense to anyone, peace. In case you wanna know: I am ascendant 2.

I disagree with ur point where u said b player to c and a player to b instead of a player to c. Specific agents hold specific sites better than others and can slow or entirely stop a push. So this isn’t always the case. What if you had cypher anchoring a site but you tell him to rotate bcs its faster instead of a jett or raze. He loses all his util in the case they rehit cyphers site. My point is forcing agents that are already setup or good on one site to rotate to another bcs its faster than you or another player rotating is kind of stupid.
@BUGSYTHEBEAN2 жыл бұрын
Your example makes sense, there will always be exceptions in a game like Valorant that is so situational. I was mainly talking about a case where someone on heaven A site would waste 15sec running in spawn and watching nothing.
@diwanthegreat2 жыл бұрын
I disagree, if enemy has committed on C it's very unlikely they rotate to be B, especially if they know a cypher is there. As a cypher you should be ok with losing utility because it's more of an Investment. Your early rotation could literally win the round or give your team the advantage. Jett will be able to hold B just fine as it's mostly lurker that are roaming about.
