We used to go to Columbus every week, over 100 miles one way but was worth it, really good flea market. My girlfriend and me would get a hotel room so we could get to the market early Can be a rough crowd, never forget saw 2 guys battle it out with badminton rackets, just whaling on each other till the one guy fell on the ground Just glad they were not selling knives! The eye book look great, I would have bought it, Auge poke ! We went to our Tuesday flea market today, very cold and not many people. Hazel the 6 year old had a stomach ache so didn’t go to school…amazingly she seemed to get better soon as we got to the market. Got lots of Valentine cards for the. Kids

I enjoy the vintage medical books to see/read about how they handled different diseases/medical problems in the past. Granted, some of their cures didn't cure anything, but shows how far we have come in the medical field with all of our technology :0)

I believe the same guy sets up at my flea market in Delaware , I think he is from Jamaica I believe he gets his stuff from food auctions where stores sell surplus food they have I shop in this “ dented can “ grocery store and that is where they get a lot of it and good bit might be past expiration but what they heck prices are great. I did know a guy that dumpster dived for food that he then ran through the auction. Did pretty well.

Nice to see that you got a fantastic weather on the other side of the big pond which we didn´t see for weeks. 🥲But: no winter blues so far in this household, that´s for sure ! 😉Some pretty neat finds at the Columbus flea market. The Tour Guide for Europe is very common over here, but the "Handbuch der Kinderheilkunde" (handbook of pediatrics) is something special, probably from the 1920s ?! Though it´s just volume VI of a series, this item might be of interest for collectors of medical literature. Just take the Europe Tour Guide as some kind of "preparation" for your forthcoming trip to Europe, won´t you ?! 🙂Have a very good time, Renée. Greets from GER, U.

Too bad the seller didn't have additional volumes, as I'm sure there were probably some on the feet, hands, ears, nose, etc. I will have to get back to this flea market when the weather warms up a bit and even more sellers come out. I heard that many sellers at this flea market do cleanouts, so that's always a good thing when you can dig in boxes and find some goodies! Nicer weather over here, looks to continue throughout the week. Spring is just around the corner! (We can hope!)

I'm by your side at 11:35 PM on 02/06...wide awake!! My time of "day", being I'm a night owl!! "Hey, Kids...What Time Is It??? It's HOWDY DOODY TIME!" As a little tyke...Howdy was one of my favorite TV shows...back in the late 40s and 50s! we got our first TV...a 12" Magnavox in 1949! Years ago, I had a set of medical/hospital supply catalogs...1920-1925. Sold them to a buddy who was in medical school...boy...some of the equipment looked as if Dr. Frankenstein had them in his lab, although, most of the operating instruments were very similar to those in current use, such as vein/artery clamps as such.

It is funny how so much has changed in the medical field, but so much has also stayed the same or we have just built upon what was once used. I still say that while the dental field has improved with their technology, such as laser fillings, I still look at some of their equipment and wonder "Isn't there anything that looks a bit less scary??"

For a minute there I thought you were going to pass over that Kinderheilkunde book - but once I saw the gapped tooth kid drawing I thought you must be going to pick it up. I don't know about that one photo of the kid with the horrific eyes, though - I can't even begin to think what he had. Luckily I had just finished lunch. It will be a good book to practice from - you will never be at a loss if, in Munich, you ned to be treated for conjunctivitis 😁. Nice finds on the others - I hope the Mudville shirt works out. I found a Robert McClosky book at a thrift store the other day which I hadn't heard of - "Lentil." No resale - just for me. Also went to an estate sale Sunday which turned out to be the home of a hoarder who was onsite - taking things from people's hands and frustrating the estate sale company. But the property had been sold and he was way beyond when he should have vacated. Still, everything was either overpriced or rotting into the ground - or both. I found a little insurance policy premium - a billfold-sized folder for insurance cards & paper work that said on the front, "A Place for Everything and Everything in Its Place." I propped it up and took a photo of it against the background. Too much drama at that one, though, so all I took home was my ironic photo. Hope things are well. Beautiful day here. I have a box I'm pulling together for you - next few weeks. I am going micro (or small at least) this time to make up for the behemoths of the past. Same general number of things though. Have a great Tuesday afternoon!

Oh wow, that sale does sound like lots of drama. The poor person though, as they probably attempted to do their best to move stuff along by having a sale but when the physical aspect of having the items removed from the home actually came about, too much to handle. I foresee a dumpster there in the future when the new owner for the home comes along! What a shame. At least you had a little "adventure" and walked away without getting sucked into or under all that stuff! No worries on the behemoths of the past, as my postal worker loves to remind me about that box that could have shipped a person in it due to its' size :0) You made his year with sending that one!

The sold prices for the Ebbets Field jerseys are all over the place on eBay. It looks like the jerseys for actual teams sell in the $50-60 range. Your jersey is not an actual team, but most everyone knows about the Mudville 9. I’m curious if there’s a number and/or name on the back. Anyway based on the obscure jersey selling prices for Ebbets flannels I’d think yours would sell for $75-100. Cool find for sure.

Just a question I have over a hundred letters that my Father wrote to send to my mother during WWII I gave copied most of them in duplicate to send to my siblings and my Daughter, they are in acid free envelopes stored away ,do you have any ideas what I can do with the originals? I did write to a few authors to see if they were interested ,they could use them for a book but never a response

You could donate them, If you're open to it, consider donating the letters to a local historical society, museum, or library. They may be interested in adding them to their collection, where they can be preserved and made accessible to researchers and the public.

Was your father stationed overseas or was he still serving in the States? If he mentions the training centers, bases, battles, etc., this could be of interest to the company that he served with and/or historians that research specific companies, units, battles, etc. There is a market online for selling WWII ephemera, but that would have to be something that you are comfortable with.
