No wonder it's getting harder and harder to make a decent living doing freelance work since these prices are bringing down the value of good images. Clients will accept "good enough" quality because the are cheap. So if an artist wants to make a good living they'll have to work for a reputable rendering house or as a in-house vis person at arch firm.

I’ll go for the USD 300 as the amount of work, the back and forth to get your feedback on the direction of the work and implementing what your preferences were, and then coming out with the final render with the detailed work put into it was a definite winner for me. Happy to pay that much for this.

Let's also add cost of hardware, software subscriptions and running costs to that. Fine if you're working from Mum and Dad's, but undervaluing the market doesn't do the industry any favours at all. @ShowItBetter3 жыл бұрын
Not at all! it is just that some software acquire a certain staple look with their basic settings on and it is very easy to distinguish them. It is not necessarily bad but in some occasions you want to avoid it. I would say many programs have this and it is the role of the actual artist to try to squeeze out the best of each software so the render avoids the generic feel.

Wow!! I am amazed by the amount of polemic this video is getting haha, I like that there is an active conversation on this comment section, but since it is a bit hard to respond to each one, I am going to give my thoughts here: *1. Is Fiver going to end the arch-viz industry?* No, it never will. The industry is filled with high-quality artists and companies that have a huge set of clients willing to pay a lot of money for their work. What a professional arch viz artist provides is customer service, quality images, experience, artistry, among so many other things. These characteristics are invaluable and just like the mass consumption of the camera for everyone to access and everyone can be a "photographer" did NOT end or devalue the careers of many professional photographers, these platforms are not going to end the arch viz industry. *2. Prices are too low for a render* Yes, as mentioned in the video, all of the prices, even the 300 USD ones, are really low. How does someone survive with a 15 USD render? Well, I think the situation is a bit more complex to grasp from some places than others. Fiverr is a platform for freelancers, some take it as a side hustle and some as a full-time job. For some of these freelancers, 15 USD is money they can help pay their bills with. The minimum wage in third-world countries is around (unfortunately) 300 USD. So the money they gain from Fiverr can actually help them more than the jobs for an architect in their country. If you are somehow angry that these 15-300 USD freelancers are taking your clients, maybe you are looking at it from another perspective. Think of it more like this, you necessarily don't want to have the clients that are looking for a 15-300 USD render, because these clients are looking for fast and relatively low-cost work (which is not bad either). Or these are clients that come from low budget projects or a country where it is unimaginable to pay more than 100 USD per render. So, if you charge more than 2k per render good! These people are not stealing your clients, and if you can make a fiver account and get clients that can pay 2-5k per render then congrats, that is possible as well in the platform. *3. Prices are too high for a render* haha just like there are people complaining about the low prices, there are some amazed at how I was able to waste 300 USD for a render and that they would do an even better image for a CHEAPER price. So as you can see, we have the full spectrum of architects here!! haha. But, first of all, as I already mentioned, these prices are very low, 15 USD is really low for a render and 300 USD is also really low for a render. Second, this video was made with the help of fiverr, so the guys over there gave me a chance to test out different price points just to see how it would work. I know that many of you can produce better images than these, I know that for many of you, this may be expensive for a render, but understand that each freelancer is in a different economical situation than you, also understand that for some this is their jobs. If maybe I spent a bit more time I can come up with a better image, if they spent more time they can create a better one, but try to understand where they come from, and their needs. *Conclusion* Architects have to value their work more, yes. Architects need to charge more, yes! But we also need a bit of empathy and knowledge of the economic conditions by which we live. As an architect I would love to charge 4x more than what a normal client will pay me for design work here in Colombia, but I know that the market that I am in right now doesn't allow it, or I would literally never have clients if I priced my work. That is perhaps also the reason I am working via social media, but that story is for another day haha.... I appreciate so much the discussion, I hope it continues! But let's try to place ourselves in shoes that are different from ours. Cheers! Steven

Nice write up. For the record, I am Nigerian and the minumum wage here is about 66 dollars per a month and there are people who earn way less. So like you said, each freelancer is in a different economic situation, what may not be enough to last someone for a week may feed another for the whole month and maybe even more.
@PauloSousa863 жыл бұрын
And may that be a culture education to all the people who don't understand how economy works outside their country, and how low some people on the planet get paid related to others. In my country minimum wage is 600€ around 500 us dollars. So that 300 dollar image is a half month payment. So a lot of people from here would love to work for that money for 1 image when in your country it is a low paid image. Also not everything we buy is scaled according to income. Food and some stuff yes,but import, technology programs stay the same price as you so for us the cost of working may be higher than yours comparatively. I thought about working on Fiverr as a freelance visualizer aswell, but there’s no way I could compete with these prices - 50$ for a rendering?! I guess most of these guys are either students or from countries with overall low salaries. I could barely work for an hour for this amount without being underpaid.
@jonathanyau94553 жыл бұрын
Exactly , they are the reason why the whole industry is so underpaid

I'm from Argentina, and yeah, those 50$ here is like a weekly medium salary. I would even do renders for lower than that with no hesitation. So what you're saying is completely true

@@mae2309 and what program do you use? Because it is hard to compare these 20 minutes Lumion renderings with 3dmax/Corona.

@@mae2309 and I work in Lumion. It can look way better than those renders. I've made such in my first week, when I just start learning the program. For people who are using Lumion for years- it is embarrassingly low quality
@eliosaleh94923 жыл бұрын
the last one is descent! but the people needs matching more from saturation to shadows to just be more integrated in the whole 3d mood , they just look like png's , he could've added maybe some motion blurr effect ! and i think he's the only one rendered on either corona or v-ray , the rest are lumion ! but really lumion can deliver much more then that ! werid tho !

Loved the 80$ tier ( good composition ) ....and the 300$ has a nice mood too. 👍 You talked briefly about some Archiviz studios .. Would LOVE a video on it man !

How was the white set of examples created? What’s the purpose of creating an all white base?
@Maschinengoth3 жыл бұрын
These render incredibly fast. So the artist just chooses a few viewpoints, does a quick all white render for a general feel of light and space and then the customer decides which one he wants fully textured and in high resolutin

15 was great for the price, really nice and got the building overall, The 50 Usd was just inconsistent with the images but it was worth the money, the 80 added unnecessary buildings to the project as you said and composition is boring, 100 unfinished and 300 is a joke for that single image and its good but its not worth 300

Most of these prices are less than what you will pay hourly for archviz. These prices are quite ridiculous, this is (thankfully) reflected in the quality. They don't really come close to professionally done archviz. Which is not that weird because the cost of software, assets and models alone would is more expensive than the final image.

FAHIM RENDER 2 which I think is the 50 dl job.....that is a magazine shot (minus the people) the rest are amateurish..FAHIM nailed composition, range, depth, tone, and feel. Congrats Fahim. Loose the people though they don’t fit the scene , it cheapens the product....I like the plane though..lol. If anything definitely get rid of the man at the very front the rest are ok .. I do like the red one that is talking to somebody.

Que tal ?! Que alegre verte por acá Steven ! (I had no idea), concuerdo con vos, prices are somewhat cheap in all honesty and if we're being reasonable con la cantidad de tiempo que uno invierte en la producción de los renders y todas las implicaciones que eso conlleva; que hayan agregado a la gente it's definitely a plus (I always appreciate being able to see human scales and how that gives you a reference of the overall ambiance and interaction, this is also applicable to vegetation as well ). Second option, I'm with you on the fact that the artist took the time to work on the background, that was cool. $80.00 dollar gig [eloquently put, as far as your thoughts on it, couldn't agree more ! that said, grass treatment I felt was a bit overdone...just a bit, I mean, it's hard to get full foliage and extremely green grass in the tropics with extreme weather conditions and limited water resources right ?! But I understand the concept part of it, which is magnificent]; $100.00 one...man oh man...lighting ! it's very interesting and I wish that I could achieve that effect, let's just leave it there, nothing more to add. Camera 03 option on final gig is one of my personal favorites ! Very spot on with the tree and bench.

My favourite was the 50$ no. 2, the lighting and interior additions were great. But the 300$ was OK and would of been better if they didn't mess up the few people in the background.

$ 300 for that!!? OMG!! I am Uruguayan, I have been a renderer for 5 years now and I make renderings of much higher quality than that, the maximum I can charge and in fact I have charged was 80 dollars ... It is unfortunate how poorly paid we are here, being that in other countries they charge 4 times more for lower quality work.
@bentrebellion48303 жыл бұрын
$80? come on, even with $80 you can't pay the licence for the software...
@mauriciocarneiro97503 жыл бұрын
@@bentrebellion4830 It is not feasible to buy software licenses for any freelancer here, or for small studios. To put you in context, the salary of a cad drawer, received architect, is 2.5 usd per hour. We are latinamericans, we don't have the luck you have in your countries.

I do rendering and I charge AU$300 for the project if a model is provided. The $50 render to me looks like the most effort was put in in terms of setup, but the lighting and texturing was really poorly done. For instance, the grass steps has grass on the rise, but should be a structural material. But the vegetation was very nicely setup. The last one was by far the best one and is what I would expect from a properly done architectural render. However, only one render? With my projects, I'll provide multiple perspectives until the client is happy, and will only charge extra if there are any major changes to the model.
