The rich made thrifting expensive. Holy shit.
@graceclover8697Ай бұрын
there’s places where you can thrift higher end or vintage clothes so it’ll be more expensive, usually places like that are in nyc. from other influencers i follow there a lot of pop up thrift shops that have crazy prices in big cities, this isn’t normal for casual thrift shops.
@eyelandgalАй бұрын
@streamcrazybread-n1i Some people live in cities/areas which are more expensive because there tends to be more opportunities career wise or easier access to certain things in such places. Trying to make it an "everybody's to blame" thing is kinda weird especially when thrift stores used to be affordable until thrifting became a trend and rich people started doing it too for the aesthetic

There's no way this is worth $135. Like, those clothes would have sold for $60, $70 AT MOST at a thrift store. That means they out here charging someone $65-$75 FOR A SHOPPING TRIP. Mind you, they're probably shopping for multiple clients at once and charging them the same amount. They're most likely making hundreds an hour... to shop... For reference, a walmart employee who picks out and brings your items curbside gets paid $7.25 an hour. And an ACTUAL THRIFT STORE EMPLOYEE only makes $8-$20 an hour. The gentrification is INSANE
@yassine8935Ай бұрын
One your reference of a good price was the lowest amount of money these companies can get away with pay their workers not mentioning goodwill underpays their disabled workers but still I do agree it's steep price but also interesting to bring up Walmart a well know conglomerate for having their workers so underpaid they have to get on welfare/government benefits and monopolizing groceries pushout out mom and pop grocery stores if that's not gentrification idk what is . I also don't think you can gentrifiy a system that was set up to make a company richer goodwill makes millions off free items and is still rising their prices that's capitalism the system was never meant to help you .
@SUADELALOVEАй бұрын
Who’s to say the shopper isn’t a past minimum wage employee….. corporations don’t care and wealth is not circulating fairly- the person doing this is aware of the future. You, finding an obtuse take to complain about, are clearly stuck in the past.
@verypeachy2567Ай бұрын
@@yassine8935 I'm not saying that it's a good price to pay your employees as low as minimum wage. Minimum wage should be a LOT higher, it's not even funny. My sister started off minimum wage at a job 7 years ago, she works 6 days a week, and is the only one there taking her job seriously (whereas others aren't even doing their minimum job requirements), and yet still only makes 30k annually. I used this comparison to point out two things wrong in this video: that this girl was WAYYYY overpriced just for someone to go on a shopping trip for them, and two, that we're forced to choose one extreme over another. It's either underpaying struggling, overworked 90-hour week employees who are the backbone to our society, or overpricing minimum effort. Also, I mentioned gentrification, and I see that I kinda just made a statement without clarifying what I meant at allllll. But I'm referring to the fact that many thrift stores (national and local) have jacked up the prices because it's become a trend on tiktok for people (especially richer people) to go on insane shopping sprees for clothes they don't need while donating nothing back in return. This means that there is a higher demand for these items but simultaneously, less items, which causes the prices to be much higher. I mean, I guess the girl who's charging the prices for these thrift store shopping trips is getting her bag??? But I guess what I'm saying is that it can be insulting for people who've only ever been poor, watching everything that used to be cheap for them suddenly become overly expensive because of a trend.

But there’s similar bags at most thrift stores so… but yeah, the shirt you’d probably have to look online idk
