He knows how much can realistically be done for those prices. Given a random ask, these are all pretty okay. Getting a good dinosaur model would likely be expensive. And then rendering it would likely also be expensive. That's impossible with the little money they're being given.

If I gave something like that to my client and charged 1200 bucks for it, I would be fired immediately. And I'm very disappointed that Peter doesn't see all the obvious mistakes (perspectives, movements, lighting). Maybe this video should be entertaining, but I personally, as an artist, find it embarrassing.

Don't know how to say this without looking racist, which i'm not, but most of the editors were indians, that's their style, they put on low quality footage, try to experiment and think it looks nice. I've been in the after effect groups and that's all I saw there, only few actually did a good job, and those who did, they're already hired in firms.

In 5 days, an "experienced artist" could have made a jaw-dropper. That's no excuse. That $1250 one shouldn't have been more than 100 bucks.

I have 3 weekz of experience editing video, i can get the job he paid 1250$ done in 3 to 5 hours, it was just disapointing. I would feel embaraced to deliver that to someone who paid 1250$ wich is a months work or 2 months if you live in my country. I would dedicate 2 days just contacting him getting his ideas, then 2 to 3 weeks editing and making it be looking real and polishing every little detail.

I think the expectation of a lot of people are overblown. Remember you can pay a few hundred for a LOGO. A fixed image logo if you want it to be quality. The problem is people expect art to be free or heavily discount. The cost for the VFX people are expecting is quite high

When I saw the last one, I jumped out of my chair and screamed “ I can make 1250$ with literal crap!!!”. Seriously most of those were finished on a laptop while the artist was taking a dump. I immediately created my own Fiverr account. I am so much better that those guys and I’ve been doing FX for like 2 years.

12:05 Out of all the edits, this was my favorite. The background didn't look out of place and was shaking well with the subject, and surprisingly, the UFO didn't look all that bad as well. I felt like this one was far better than the ones that charged $1000 or more

Tbh for the price it offered, that's what you will get. But as a designer myself it's a shame, I would never give poor quality for my client even tho I offered low price. Although, some artist are robbing people, and some clients didn't appreciate the artist. I will leave it at that.

Vfx is a hard industry to work in. It's incredibly hard to do things like 3d tracking, as well as getting realistic dinosaurs, UFOs, airplanes, etc. Also, the human eye is trained to see any mistakes that look unrealistic. So even if someone put a ton of effort into the shot, we still see it as unrealistic.

I personally would've done a funny sketch like Peter on a treadmill, when he asks Siri to put his playlist on Siri would accidentally increases the treadmills speed leading to him speeding up and then ultimately falling. Something like that seems more realistic and more fitting in general.

I get so frustrated when I see the results. They just key Peter and put stock footage in the background plus a dinosaur. Even when he paid me 50 dollars I would use some wiggle to make it look more realistic (handheld). And probably use some color correction. Replace the footsteps with better sounding ones. And so on. This is disappointing!

@Winston Mcgee that's the thing though. A lot of these looks like just premade effects with basic green screen editing which anyone can do. ofcourse doing the actual vfx itself would take time but i doubt most of these people did any actual vfx work of their own other than the green screen edit.

Theres tens of them and each is only working on one part, nobody is composing entire scenes by themselves. They have very specific roles. Also they use top of the line hardware, not laptops and stuff like these guys lol

Almost all of the assets these artists have used are available for free on KZbin. All they have done is keyed them in and maybe applied a little colour grading. I definitely need to be on Fiver if this is the standard. Can be done in minutes.
