Yes. I did the unspeakable and painted my BMW with paint from rattle can. Contrary to common belief, you can achieve a beautiful paint job using just simple spray cans. The Paint Scratch paint was expensive, but no doubt was fully worth it. I highly recommend this if you have paint damage and you can't afford the huge repair cost for a professional. Great video ive done a full car with cans but i didnt like the outcome. Ive used all the steps like in the video except i didnt use adhesion promoter and no 2k clear coat. It came out hazy and the color didnt match other black cars. But i like how yours turned out even though i thought it was going to be a fail video because after you got done with the base coat i saw lines in the work on the edge of the bumper

Fans from Hong Kong. Great video! Watch JD cars every week! I did this to my e90 before(custom paint) but failed...it’s hard to determine the actual color because it’s been 10 years and it depends on you park under the sun or park inside the garage. By the way, have you ever think of getting 1m bumper?

As I have said to others... yes I painted my front bumper. Is the front bumper not part of my car? Please, I do encourage you to tell me how the front bumper is not part of the car. Furthermore, the front bumper is the most challenging part of the car to paint. A hood or door is far more simple because it is flat.

A part of your car, and the entire car are two different things. Read your title and say to me you wouldn't assume it was the entire BMW. I mean, by your logic, if I paint my steering wheel, then I painted my car. And all bumpers are different, just like doors and hoods. Some bumpers are very easy to paint.

Pretty decent paint job but even after sand and polish you can see a lot of imperfections in the painting. If you sand between coats you can greatly minimize these imperfections. It takes more paint but the end result will look factory.

Nice project but why not fill the holes and sand down the old bumper, then respray. You could have shown a new bumper and said this costs x hundred, so this is how you can restore the original for say £20 of sandpaper and filler, then paint.

Sure... you could do that, but it would cost more in time and materials than to buy the new bumper for $80.

Good job, the only thing is if you have access to spraying equipmen int half cheaper doing it that way (at least a compressor and a half decent gun) + usualy with the right aplication no need for buffing orange peel. That is just not possible with 2k clear from a can on bigger parts. But for mirrors and such this is a good alternative for diy. Another problem is with sanding and buffing specialy on flat pannels you get rid off all the clearcoat structure so it doesnt match the car. Dont get me wrong, as a car painter for bmw i just want to shed some light to people thinking that you can do magical repairs at home with spray cans. We use expensive equipment and booths for a reason. And i support people like you sharing knowledge for people on a tight budget to fix some car parts themselves. The only thing i would maybe contradict here as stated before, is that if you bring a new bumper in for painting at some private paint shop, it would probably be cheaper than spray cans and polishing. Anyways keep up the good work mate good job

That base must be garbage ad 80% thinner. Also you are fooling yourself if you think that came out nicely. Yes it's good enough, but if you can catch some imperfections even on camera, then you can really see them in person if you look. Well done for a can job, but not for a paintjob in general.

So... Why not take the money spent on a factory bumper, and spend it on a bodyshop that would professionally paint the exact same bumper you already had... Fill the holes, and spray it and you're set.
@JDCarsChannel

That would easily cost over $400. Also here at JD Cars, we do everything we can DIY style.

Nice work but i wouldnt do it myself cause yet the cans costed you around 50-70$ so you could go straight to a painter and let it paint for 100$ and get an even better finish.

As I have said to others... yes I painted my front bumper. Is the front bumper not part of my car? Please, I do encourage you to tell me how the front bumper is not part of the car. Furthermore, the front bumper is the most challenging part of the car to paint. A hood or door is far more simple because it is flat.

Well given you have to wait at least an hour between the base coat and clear coat that would literally be impossible. Nice try.

JD Cars A nice heat gun or hair dryer do her up good lol the cans just say that to insure it's dry but depending on the temperature it should dry in a fraction of that time. I repair, prime, spray, and clear a bumper in probably an hour and a half.. I was just sayin using rattle can it seems like it took you a while
