Hullo Sarah, thank you for sharing this amazing painting video with us! I worked in gouache 20+ years ago and it was not a good choice for permanent artworks! Most Designers Gouache is still made for temporary work. You create your design, take a photograph and put in away or as when I was working with gouache every project was shredded after the client had approved the work. Today gouache paint can be an archival medium, if you buy the correct line of paint from a brand you trust! You can find the information on brands by reading about their paints online the company website or in watching reviews on KZbin! Most quality paints have information on the tube! You just need to look and read about the product you want to buy. Now Sarah knows this, I hope that it helps anyone who wants or needs more information about gouache.

Multiple paintings of one subject is very fun. I paint my driveway where it curves past the woods by the meadow. 22 years of trees growing, falling, fence falling apart, seasonal change...it never gets old. Thanks for starting this project. I am looking forward to updates when it snows.

YES to the River Series! 👏 Not only is it interesting to see the differences in light and color with the changing angle of the sun, it’s very helpful to hear how you perceive it and what your artist’s eye picks out as important. If that river were near me, I’d want to paint it all the time, too 💙

Hi Sarah! I just wanted to thank you for all your amazing content. I love painting landscapes but felt intimidated by it, so I kept changing what I painted. Your experiences and approaches, really gave me confidence in continuing pursuing landscape painting. I also love watercolor and Gouache! I would love to see the process of the light changing in this subject throughout the year. Thanks again, have a wonderful time painting 😊 see you around!

This came out, so soft and lovely and glowing. I just love it. Something really cool happened while I was watching your video. At the beginning, when you were describing painting, the scene again, and the way the light affected everything the first thing that I thought of was Monet’s haystacks! And then you mentioned them later in the video!

Yes Sarah a series would be great!! If you are up to it. As a semi retired artist in Ontario Canada I used to camp in summers and did sunrises of same spots for many years outdoors in watercolours with ink. Every day different!! Took photos also for reference. Mobility issues prevent that now. Just small watercolours outside my window of trees etc. or from my balcony.or old photo reference of mine. Thank forsharing!! Haven't seen your videos in awhile. From chilly Ontario. ❤❤😊😊.

I'm looking forward to trying this method as I have been struggling with mixing gouache on the palette. I kept finding myself dipping the brush in the paint and going directly to the paper, sometimes mixing colors then. I would really enjoy more tutorials with this style - I'm a visual learner :)

This music sounds like a chill instrumental cover of "Dame tu aire" by Alex ubago 😂😂 it's hitting the exact same notes, just without the lyrics and a different instrument of course. but i knew it sounded familiar until it clicked in my brain. i find it hilarious because the original is such a dramatic romantic song, it wouldn't fit your video at all, yet here we are somehow 😂😂and i found myself singing along lol.

Beautiful. Do you find it easier to paint small or large? In this regard I mean, this size of your video today, versus, bigger like 9 x 12 to 12x 16. (I'm mainly using watercolor, but have all the other mediums, but have yet to really get into another medium just yet, so maybe it is different with watercolor vs gouache)
@SarahBurnsStudioКүн бұрын
I paint large sometimes, it just depends what I’m doing. When I want to emphasis big skies or water I usually give myself more space
@paintingtheskykingdom9005Күн бұрын
@ oh no, I knew you paint larger sometimes, I was really curious if you found it easier to paint small or large. I’ve been trying to paint larger and I can’t decide if I like it better or not so was wondering others thoughts. I’m starting to feel it is not easier because instead of less detail I need to make more. (I’m going through a weird art block where I’m not liking much of anything I do right now…I may need to change to gouache or oil)

I might have missed in a previous video, but may I ask why don't you place your colors into the small wells on the sides of your ceramic palette? Easier to mix them this way? 🤔

Because I like to push and pull them over the surface.

Another topic is how to see color differencies not after several days or weeks but immediately, like you made those four sketches for previous video: one after each other and each is different. I consider this very difficult, esp. if color and/or value differencies are so subtle. Could you do a video about this, please?

I think I know what you mean, I will think about this as a video topic.

@@SarahBurnsStudio Thank you! And, BTW, I look at your last picture for about ten time, I really like your work with colors there. And as I saw the video where you painted most parts just 1-2 times, it's a big motivation for me to learn such ability to see and mix precise colors!
