Hi Sarah I absolutely love gouache but it aggravates the tendonitis in my wrist because you have to mix constantly and do way more paint strokes than say, watercolors. I was wondering which brand is the smoothest and least sticky? I'd love to be able to use this medium pain free. Love your videos and patreon! Thanks!

This video was exactly what I needed. Was using permanent white with watercolor to dip my toes into gouache. Loved it, bought 3 tubes of primaries in gouache and am now doing comparisons. Helpful to know I can use the watercolor to tint gouache so I don’t need to start with a larger gouache palette. Thank you for these wonderful videos!

@@SarahBurnsStudio They will probably sell better if you let your viewers know about them 😅 I discovered them quite by accident! I do hope they get the pictures added to the listings, that would be helpful.

Stunning! What will you do with remaining gouache on palette ? Cover it and use again? (I'm almost tempted to venture into gouache because of you!)
@SarahBurnsStudio2 күн бұрын
Yes, usually I put the whole palette inside one of my stay-wet palette boxes. It keeps for a couple of days, enough to use up.

Hi Sarah from another Sarah (though older by at least one or two generations!) I love this video because it gives me a concrete idea (well, concrete is ultimately made from rocks, right?) about a way to combine just getting something on paper (and practicing) and learning more about what I've got in my palette. I've dibbed and dabbed at similar ways to swatch, but never as thoroughly as this; I do like doing only two colors at a time as it takes out all the speculation about what would happen if I added just a bit more (or less) of the ___ and so on. I do have a question though--I see many people talking about using single pigment colors when mixing their convenience mixes because of potential for muddying--clearly your green gold wouldn't be muddy, but have you found that to happen otherwise? I've not played with mixing paints yet, but I'm thinking about it, and you made it look very doable. Thanks for all your hard work, especially in showing how you put this all together!

Yes there is potential if you mix multi-pigmented colors, but they vary so much from color/brand that it is hard to give a perfect answer to say what will work or not. So really for me it comes down to trying it! I have so many tubes from over the years that I can try. Some mix great, others not so much. 😊

@ Thanks so much for your reply--and I can imagine it will be much the same for me as I already have many tubes of similar colors to work with! ❤️

I’m new to gouache and it was so helpful to watch this process in real time. Your friendly chat about what decisions you were making and why was also informative. 🙏🙏

I learned early I am not the best judge of my art or photography😆. I love this abstract painting, it is beautiful. I tossed an abstract painting in my “need to work on” bin, pulled it out a year later and realized it was done. I’m heading to Washington on December 5. It is so beautiful. I am enjoying this video. Thanks !😊

Thought of a way to have a beige thihgee to mix paints on - you have a clear acrylic panel so just add some of the beige paper underneath. Not a perfect solution but ….

Hello from Australia 😁 Just purchased this watercolour sketchbook today ( from Amazon Australia). I have been enjoying ink drawings in a Midori notebook but since I like adding extra water and creating washes there has been more bleed through than I’d hoped….Thanks for your thorough review. I will be interested to see different seasonal paintings if that river. I'm in Australia. Our native trees are evergreen. I live very close to a national park, and two large rivers, and the ocean. All if the treescapes are very dull green, no matter the season.
