FYI ...Keltec recommends you slingshot the slide, on the first round instead of pushing the slide release. Since I started doing that I haven't had any problems with first round feeding.

I only have one arm and bought this, my first semi auto, because the slide was easy to manipulate. I can rack the slide on my belt. I use the slide release with no issues I can rack the slide with my top 2 fingers.😮👍

@@JamesJones-cx5pk thats badass. have you checked out the smith and wesson ez line? i have a 380 ez performance center and its wonderful. the slide is very easy to rack on that gun, too.

It is a slide hold open not a slide release. Read the manual
@randygrider975811 ай бұрын
You, like many other reviewers, did not read the manual. It is a slide catch only, and not to be used as a slide release. You will wear it out, and then have no slide catch. The book says slingshot the slide to chamber a round.

I bought one then up graded to the Kel-Tec slide with Crimson Trace reflex sight. Zeroed it at 25ft. and between 25ft. and 50 yards you anywhere you put the dot it hits. Using 38 grain HP's Aguila Extra Velocity and runs flawlessly.

I have two p17s , had problems feeding with 15 rds in the mag, after about 600 rounds i looked at the bottom of the slide and could see the wear pattern, i used light emery cloth to cure that problem, then i cut one and a half rounds out of the mag spring, those two steps cured the friction problem with both guns they shoot great now, i have the factory red dot and slide on one love the guns fun to shoot and very accurate, hope this helps

One 30 gave me fits until we figured out the mags were boogered. New mags no issues. P17 ran fine from start to finish. Picked up couple more before price goes up. Good guns

I have over 1000 rounds in both of my P17's with no failures at all! Yes I purchased another one about 4 months after I bought my first one and I find them to be very accurate and they do not look like they are going to wear out in the immediate future! I also have a CP33 and a PMR33 which are also very good guns for me! I carry one of my P17's as my EDC in either a pocket holster or an Outside the waistband holster! I'm 80 years old and I shoot every week at rmy LGR here in sunny Florida, The Gun Friendly State! Good Luck with your P17!

I like my p17 after I put a Hogue grip on it. I haven't decided which suppressor I want to buy for it yet.

The Hydro suppressor I have in the video is a cost effective option for a dedicated 22lr, with tax stamp it's right at $500.

some time back I got the 17. except for around 50 rounds of mixed dirty green ammunition that some worked some didn't. i did have 3or4 federal target snapped but Remington, Winchester, cci ,federal work wonderful. no problems. I got around 260 rounds through it but won't clean it till a least 400 - 500 rounds to see how dirty it will run. Papa 😊

Yeah, the back pressure with the suppressor was throwing debris back at me through the left side of the slide, I'm pretty sure after eating the first few round of debris I stopped focusing, lol.

I am a card carrying revolver Bro but I just bought one. It will be a couple of weeks before I can get to a range so I don't yet know if it was a good decision but here is my reasoning. I have been out of shooting for quite some time and I wanted an affordable weapon to rebuild my skills and learn to deal with my less stellar eyesight. Being a 22 which is not really practical for reloading I don't mind it flinging brass all over. If I get my knee fixed it would be an easy lightweight woods walk about gun that could pop an occasional rabbit or squirrel. It also carries very easily and can serve as a defensive weapon in swarm of angry bees mode due to capability for rapid aimed fire. There are some negative reviews as there are with any weapon but the proponderence of positive reviews including long term when combined with the low price made it seem a reasonable risk.

I had a PMR 30 and traded because of the issues you were talking about but now I kind of want to try the p17 and I'm wondering is it more reliable and is it worth it
@citizenpew11 ай бұрын
Well for the price the P17 is definitely less of a financial risk. I've only had it to the range twice now and it seems to be holding up. Second trip to the range I didn't have any ammo issues, so that was good. I think one of the issues with the PMR30 was that .22 Magnum was too much for the design. The P17 construction is very similar to the PMR30 as far as polymer and ratio of plastic to metal parts which seems to be doing well with .22lr. I already have a buddy thinking of getting one too, especially at the price it is. If I had to make a judgement call on it right now, I'd say for the price, it doesn't feel like you could go wrong. Hope that helps!

I like the P17, but it is an odd gun to me. It just feels strange in the hand. It has been reliable though, which is most important.

@@johnn7726 I have two Taurus TX22s and a Ruger LCP II .22LR. Thus far neither one of the one Taurus TX22s I have shot or the Ruger LCP II .22 have been reliable at all. Both are considerably more money than this Kel-Tec p17. We have a local shop that has them on sale this week for $179.99 and I think I am going later tonight to buy one. I also have a Phoenix Arms HP22A in satin nickel that NEVER jams and has been good since day one. You are correct as price doesn't always reflect quality and I need a cheap beater .22 LR that WORKS for a fishing/bassboat gun. I have better stuff but they aren't something you want to put in a tacklebox or carry out in a boat on the lake for the day with you. I have heard that these are more reliable and what people like me have bought since they get screwed on the other junk. I may have to find out and confirm for myself this evening when I take a trip over there after I get out of work.
