That was 100% a dev pipe in that troll level. But I think the creator grabbed the stiletto first, made sure the switch was on, then jumped out of the stiletto to reach the dev blocks. You cheesed it with the shell jump and bypassed the switch, bomb, star, stiletto nonsense. Well done sir!

There's a misunderstanding here because Ryukahr doesn't normally play troll levels, troll levels have their own storied history, expectations and standards. A troll level player would've realized the key on the skull platforms is a troll and you're supposed to reach the key door without a key, for example. The dev exit is actually expected in even the best troll levels. Many troll levels are simply impossible from checkpoints or even the start, there needs to be a dev exit so the creator can even upload the level. One classic trick is that after you reach a checkpoint, the level will make it seem as if you were tricked and did the wrong thing, but then when you respawn the level will be different and you now had to do what was wrong the last time. In this case, for example, the level might've been impossible until you respawn after the checkpoint. This is often combined with user-friendly features like giving the player a key if they died with a key after spending 1 hour collecting 9 red coins. I can't remember the exact set-ups but there are some tricks that only work well if the dev makes the level unbeatable from a checkpoint, it's not just a design choice. With all that said, the level doesn't look like a very sophisticated troll level, but I can believe the creator was at least trying to make something like these highly regarded troll levels.

I swear i've played that last level before, at least a version of it. Don't think I got very far in it, I definitely didn't think to do that cheese to get to the upper level and i didn't recognize anything up there, but the beginning is VERY familiar to me. I rarely have the patience for long gauntlet levels with clear conditions and thus no checkpoints. That level may have been doable for me if it ditched the clear condition and just had checkpoints. I'm pretty sure I did leave a comment on it tho.
