A 22-year-old wife and mother of two, Christal, fell pregnant at the age of 15, with her partner Henry - and the couple had it all planned out. Orlando, Christal’s Dad, out of anger, had stopped speaking to her for some time after finding out she was pregnant. However, with the support of her family, Christal welcomed her daughter just two days before her 16th birthday and her life has not been the same since. Despite being a new mom, Christal managed to graduate from High School, welcomed their second daughter at the age of 19 and got married just one day before her 20th birthday. The young mom expresses that till this very day, she receives a lot of judgement in public and online for being a “bad parent” - but she is keen to show that this is not the case with her family.

They are by far the exception, not the rule, to graduate high school, to own a house, etc. I'm glad it worked out for her, but I fear giving her a platform will encourage young and naive girls that it will be like that for them too, and odds are it will not be.

They live in Texas and According to Texas’ Romeo and Juliet Law, anyone between the ages of 14 and 17 can legally give consent to have sex with someone within 3 years of their age. This means that an 18-year-old and 15-year-old would be able to have consensual sex under Texas law without it being considered a child sex offense. Similarly a 14-year-old could have consensual sex with a 17-year-old under the law.

My best friend was pregnant for all of the first year I knew her. She was 15 when her daughter was born. Her daughter just turned 9. I was with her more than the baby daddy was for 4 years. We're starting to see each other again because we do miss each other. Her daughter is a very kind, intelligent and spirited child. My best friend has been a single mom since she was 15. It reminds me of an old friend I had, who was in a similar situation too. Got married and had their first one at 14, and for them it just worked. I agree even though I don't want every teen getting pregnant however It still happens. I also know before humans lived to be 40+ yrs old we were having children at 14-21, since most of us would be dead by time we reached 30. not only that but women used to be married off as soon as she started her period and would usually begin having children within the following couple years. however and technology and life spans began to improve, humans started getting married later and requiring more of the younger generations. just thought I'd mention it.

I don’t think people understand; 15 & 18 year olds are in high school together. My son is 17 and just graduated high school. He was one of the youngest kids in his graduating class. Most of his HIGH SCHOOL friends are 18-19 years old. I’m happy they took control and are taking care of their babies. I personally would not have planned a pregnancy at 14, but, she did get pregnant, and the baby is now 4. Age doesn’t make you a good parent. When we hear stories of parents and family members sexually abusing children, it’s never young teens doing that; it’s freaking ADULTS!!! If they don’t have any more children, she’ll be an empty nester in her late 30s.

I don’t know what true crime you’ve been watching, but I have to tell you that I also watch & read true crime, & sadly there are a large number of young people - teens & sometimes - disturbingly - even younger - who do indeed sexually abuse younger members of the family etc. It is not just limited to older people.

If you are a parent and you allow this to happen. You are bad parent. What you say is that you dont care about her teenage life and adulthood. You simply do not care about her having a normal life. She will be at home taking care of the kid. While her friends go out and enjoy their life being free of responsibilities how they should be.

Glad it worked out for them, but I don’t see why they couldn’t wait. Kids grow up fast and I’m just thinking about her parents wanting their child to stay their child and I can understand how heartbroken they were. I know you can’t keep your kids innocent forever, but waiting until after high school would have made it less hurtful for them.
