I love this walk and my life and soul long for such a place. I really need to live in or at least near a place similar to yours, because it is too hard for me to exist otherwise in a small city in the USA, in a Metropolitan area far from ocean, hills, & mountains. I enjoy your videos, yet have a ache in my body, soul & heart at the same time. I had a place with beautiful gardens which were created by my Father and myself, yet my father sold the 2 homes situated in the lush and varied gardens surrounding them. I am still in grief over it. The people whom "purchased" the place had machinery destroy all of the trees, paths, flowers, shrubs, herbs, etc all in one day after we had created & nurtured the magical gardens for over 40 years! I wanted to live there as I grew older, yet it was not to be. I live in an expensive apartment where the to perry owners have cut down the beautiful trees. It is a terrible grief. Thank you for the creation & the video imagery in this lovely place. I am happy for you and people whom can figure out a way to live in harmony with Nature.

It feels as if you were talking about my own experience. We had a farm where my Mom, without any knowledge of permaculture, turned from sheep-destroyed land to a lushy mini forest. My Mom got sick and my Dad decided to sell the farm, thr new owner let them stay in the farm until they found a new house but in that year period, the new owner sawed all ( and I mean ALL) the trees and shrubs that my Mom had planted, which I think, contributed to made her Parkinson’s go worse. It has been 20 years from that but the wound is still open and I find great comfort by watching Colette’s channel. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Our vegetable garden started as very poor dry lifeless sandy soil that was baked by the sun and abused by a previous owner who buried his junk there. We adopted a no dig layering style in which to plant our food. In 3 short years it is so much healthier with just as you say, giving Mother Earth a little help. We have wild mushrooms of all sorts growing everywhere on this veggie plot as well as the entire 5 acres. The garden is comprised of fruit trees and shrubs as well as the normal vegetables. We plan to focus on berry bushes and whatever we can for the birds and bees in the fall and coming years. As I am writing this its a drizzly day but brightened by the birds and many other beautiful critters who are feeding from our land and supplemented with food we love indulging them with all year long. We get deer, fox, turtles, birds of all kinds including hawks and turkeys, squirrels, chipmunks and more. When we first got here to begin rehabbing the rundown house some 9 years ago there were hardly any of these visitors. It gets better every year we give Mother Nature a helping hand! We feel so blessed. Who needs TV when you have all this natural beauty!

I believe this is the kind of environment we were meant to live in and interact with daily and throughout our lives. You teach us how to heal our Mother the Earth and ourselves at the same time. Thank you Collette - you and Beltaine Cottage are absolute treasures to mankind at this point in our development as a species.

Hi Colette, I am very curious to hear more about the spring well you dug, the ponds and the rain watter you take care to collect. I am from Israel, a more dry land. we've been suffering for more then a decade of drought.. I am now spending much thought and learning into water preservation and bringing back the wetness to the little bit of earth I live on. I'd be very interested to hear about water in Bealaine Cottege, if you'd care to share. Of course there is a big difference in climate, but I am inspired by your way of thinking and feeling the earth and feel I have much to learn from you. Sending autumn sunshine from the sunny Mediterranean. Mizmor

I so miss living in such an environment. A few days ago the management here where my mom lives took down an old growth oak. I was beside myself and finally managed to get myself upclose to the spectacle of two men cutting and jamming branches, twigs etc into an industrial size chipper. I tried to communicate with them but they did not speak English. Walking away in frustration I spotted a few remaining stray bits with buds and leaves and quickly snatched them up to try to root. Yesterday I saw a small bit still attached to the the felled tree trunk that was left waiting to be claimed for firewood and removed that. I know you can grow trees from cuttings and have being researching how that is done so perhaps when I am on the land again I can plant them if successful. That beautiful tree had lost its top in a storm and had some issues but was regrowing a nice canopy. It had the support of other oaks in the area and was not in danger of falling. It is ironic because I was afraid they were going to take that tree down. I loving looking at it, being under it and putting my hands onto its trunk and recently had said to it I will try to save a bit of you if the worst happens. I can't look out the window at that bare spot without tears.
