I haven't had a dog in over a decade, and as a subscriber was living vicariously through Bealtaine's beautiful boy Jack. Excited for wandering walks, galloping like a rocket throughout and between the garden paths, dipping in the pond and streams, giving impatient glances asking mommy to hurry it up. Thank you for sharing him with us through your videos, and I'm sorry to hear of his passing. He was truly a beautiful spirit and one with the land.

This video has moved me so much. Just prior to seeing it I was making my bed and thinking about Jack and his deep loving eyes when I wondered what his story was, how he came to you and what his previous situation had been. I decided to ask you and to share his story with everyone. Because I’m coming to know you more I thought he was probably in great need before you found each other. Then I finished making my bed and sat down once again with my iPad and immediately saw this video and that it was about Jack’s Story. I watched and listened to your advice and recognized a bit of myself in Jack when he was feeling depressed and alone. You say anything is possible. I believe it is. Jack’s beautiful eyes and his transparent love and peace beckoned me far far away in Arizona and touched my soul. I love him and you. Hope restored. I really had to share this with you. 💖💝💖

I love your journey and finding your furfamily. My two are both rescues, Treacle my schnauzer/maltese cross chose me, I had lost my partner, and needed to get back to work to earn money. I had a Smithfield (sheep dog) who adored my partner and was grieving. He had never really ever been left on his own for very long. My work would have seen him on his own for two nights a week. So I was looking for a companion. I wanted a bigger dog, instead when I went to the local rescue place, all these dogs came to say hello to us, but none stopped. When they all went off, I noticed this bedraggled wee black and white dog. Who walked over to me, put her paws up on me so I had no choice to pick her up. She snuggled in. (the owner of the rescue sanctuary was a friend and had said she had a dog she thought would be right for us) Low and behold this little girl had chosen us, and this is the dog the owner had thought was right. almost 10 years have past and she is my soul she cries when I am upset and crying, she tries to soothe me when I am upset. She helped me with foster kittens and puppies. (one of whom became a third member of the furfamily here four years ago. Blessings to you and Jack.

That broach is absolutely stunning in its simplicity & is just beautiful! What a generous gift. I absolutely loved hearing about Jack & your kitteys :) Jack is very happy at your side! I adopted a black kitten last summer & she is a sheer delight! I cannot imagine life w/o her now that she is w/ me. I lost a border collie 10 years prior & had sworn off getting attached again but you are so right when you say to keep your heart open 💜 She came to me by happenstance & I don’t regret one moment of her charming presence in my life :) unfortunately, black cats get euthanized more than any other so I was grateful to save one sweet little life 💕🐈⬛🐾

I feel compelled to tell you about my Pep, lol. I was scrolling through the free section of a massive internet classifieds site (Craigslist) looking for pallets probably and caught a glimpse of a little dog. I knew right then I had to go meet him even though I wasn't looking for a dog. I found out the address and drove for miles and actually started becoming quite worried about where this home could be. I finally found it and went in her home. She had two pups but had to get rid of Pep because she was older and couldn't tend to both. I sat down and Pep lost his mind, he wouldn't leave my side, kept licking me and nudging my hand. The woman was talking and staring at Pep. She was very bewildered at the way he was acting. I finally looked at her and said, "I think I just got myself a dog." I left the house and went outside to my car. Pep jumped into my car and sat in the passenger seat and patiently waited for me to get in. I believe our pets are angels sent to care for us. Finding my little boy was providence, pure and simple. ❤️

I loved hearing about the animals, and it is no surprise a nurturer of the land is also a nurturer of animals--one can say life in general. No doubt your family learned by how you transformed that previously sad looking, now wonderful, piece of land. It was also a process of development for you, everything for a reason. We never stop learning.

I have a 2 year old border collie named Molly that was part of an animal seizure in upstate New York. A lady adopted her and moved down here to Florida to care for her mom. The mom had a longtime cat. Molly does not do cats so I ended up with her. I have 4 dogs and love them all dearly but Molly and I are connected at the heart. She is the most troublesome animal I have ever had but she is my best friend--even bought her sheep. She is afraid of them and they know. Oh well they are fine here anyway. Our furry friends choose us or come along for a reason. I have 2 cats Esme , Milo. I did have 3. Esme I bought from a pet shop 8 years ago, she loves my daughter and follows her everywhere, she is the duchess lol Milo is a rescue cat, he was abandoned so after the rspca rescued him from his previous home I adopted him. He is like the naughty toddler I never had (my 3 kids were much better behaved lol) he loves cuddles and lets you know when he wants treats. Fudge was a ginger stray, he would see off other cats and come to me for food. Eventually he came In and stayed..he was a chatterbox. We only had him for 2 years, he had cancer. He was much loved and very missed. Milo loved him. I'm sure sometime another little furry friend will find a place in our house one day. Lovely vid as always 😊 xx thankyou.

Oh Colette, what a lovely video today. Here in the States, lots of us have had a deep sense of grief over the tragedy in La Vegas last night. I came here looking for peace and comfort and found it as I always do when I visit with you and the animals at Bealtaine Cottage. I have always believed our pets pick us, instead of us selecting them. My two dogs and one cat bring so much love and joy to my life. My grandmother also believed in signs and I know she sends me signs at times with butterflies or a glimpse of a band of ducks taking off and flying against the dawn sky as I drive to work. It is as if she is whispering in my ear that she is close by and it always makes me smile. The Bleeding Heart made its appearance at just the right moment. Coincidence? No, I don't think so! You are such a sweet and strong woman and so, so full of wisdom. So glad you, Jack, Beauty and Sammy Bear are part of my life. Yes and Jack is much, much better than Dexter.

My mom just adopted a 7 yr old beagle mix named Kody over the summer. She has no real history for him because the woman she got him from, got him someone who was giving him away because he snapped at her young children. Anyway, based on his behavior, we think he was definitely abused at some point. He’s snapped at me a couple times but didn’t do any damage. He whimpered and followed me around for a whole day after the last time. There’s a reason these little babies come into our lives. I don’t know what my Mom would do without this dog. In spite of his issues, he’s thoroughly attached to her and she’s just as attached to him.

I am also watching your video after having watched the tragedy in Las Vegas unfold. There are three cats in our household. I would like to call them companions but truthfully they run the place. One of our guys was only about ten days old (Mama died) when we got him, barely open eyes & almost frozen, he's 10. One had a head wound licked until it was raw & almost lost an eye, he was just 6 weeks. He's 7. Our girl is the color of dirty snow & was spotted in a snowbank by my daughter as she was driving by. The cat was not fully grown, she is now about 8. Thank you for sharing your beautiful companions and home with us. Blessings to you and yours from Alaska.
