I just platinumed this game a couple of days ago and got all trophies for the frozen wilds dlc yesterday. Funny thing is I hadn’t played those games in years and just discovered I was one trophy away from platinuming the main game and one trophy away from 100%ing Frozen wilds. I never usually check trophy descriptions or requirements, I just typically play the games and unlock stuff unknowingly as I go. it’s only because I was going through my ps5 settings getting more familiar with the UI that I released I was close to platinum for HZD and Returnal. Turned out I only had to knock over the 23 Grazer dummies to get the platinum for the main game and do Ikirie’s challenge to get the last trophy for frozen wilds, the games much harder dlc. Only problem I faced was that I never had the trophy unlocked showing I had unlocked all skills in Frozen wild and I definitely didn’t want to go through all of that again, the dlc is harder than the main game. I installed HZD for my ps5 hoping that would unlock the trophy. Since I typically game offline I thought I would keep my ps4 pro and ps5 online until I got the trophy unlocked and would frequently sign in and out of my psn account and sync my trophies list. That didn’t work but fortunately I had an old game save where I was still at level 6 or 4, just before the proving, the part where Alloy does the ceremony hunger games shit and becomes a “Seeker” after winning the hunger games I mean proving. I copied it to a usb I found laying around and played the game on my ps5, getting Alloy’s skills from 4 to the 18 skill points I needed in a short time. I still needed to learn the new skills tree all over again. So I quickly leveled up Alloy by doing a few story quests, a couple of bandit camps and climbing a tall neck just before I returned to the cut(frozen wild dlc) and unlocked all the dlc skills a second time (since it didn’t register back in 2019) to get the trophy I was denied back in 20 fucking 19😂😂😂. Now it’s just Returnal to platinum. For that I just have to do 4 surveys and do a daily challenge.

One the easiest plats to do if (like me) you enjoy doing all the side quests. Even counting the frozen wilds trophies, I was only 3 trophies from plat after finishing the story. Def one my fav plats and my 2nd fav game series of all time

The machines the Old Ones fought aren't the same machines that existed during Aloy's time. The machines we fought are Gaia's creations, which aren't really created for combat situations; their main functions is to fluorish back the new biosphere ( except for a few gigantic machines like Thunderjaw and Stormbird ). But the likes of the new machines aren't even comparable to the legions of the Faro robots the Old Ones had to fought; Corrupters, Deathbringers and Metal-Devils (Horus), all of which can reproduce themselves at mind-bending rate and use organic materials to "reproduce". An army of Thunderjaws is nothing compared to a legion of Horuses, which can probably construct thousands of Deathbringers and Corrupters in a short amount of time.

In my opinion, the narrative and character development are a big part of what makes the game truly special. By not immersing yourself in Aloy's journey, it feels like you might be missing out on the heart of the game. Spending 20 hours but skipping through it all-what's the point? And just a word of caution, if you decide to play Horizon Forbidden West without knowing the backstory, it might feel a bit strange and disconnected. I only have about 5 achievements left (play it on Steam) but I just kinda got burned out and never finished it and now I’m playing Forbidden West months later. The main ones I’m missing are to finish the game on UH New Game+, which is currently what I’m playing on, tbh I’ve grown to really like the lack of health bars on machines and Forbidden West just lets you turn them off on any difficulty so I did hehe, and the achievement for ‘recruiting’ every optional companion in the final battle. That last one was what stopped me from finishing the platinum, mostly because I’m just as introverted playing games and barely do side quests unless I find out while reading about other stuff that they have benefits lmao

I never really understood why people care about Platining games. You see up until the end of the story, all of the trophies you got were an integral part of your experience playing the game, you actually feel somewhat rewarded if you did something that's considered an achievement, at least for the developers. After you supposedly finish the game's story though, you're basically trophy hunting, you have to search what you have to do to get a trophy and for me that kinda defeats the purpose of trophies since you're just basically crossing items in a checklist, plus it's a pain to purposely seek out collectibles and completing hard challenges that you don't feel compelled to, just to get the trophy. I have never platined a game, I just do whatever I feel like it's the most important for me, otherwise I will just get bored and frustrated with the game. This is not a critique though, more power to you for doing it if you want to, I just can't put myself through that.

I am going to be real here. Getting the blazing sun’s are not as difficult as they may seem. I am currently getting the platinum for this game and I got most of the blaze sun’s on my first try but some did take multiple attempts. Just be patient and calm and you will be getting them in no time.
