I do, too. For 34 years. I’m still stuck in my third year rut, trying to figure out how to get out of it. 😂😂😂😂

@@Domn879 You got a point there. I used to get literally harassed by some of my old band mates that I couldn’t play the blues despite the fact that I have won contests and had several of my songs on (local) radio back in the day lol. Nothing against the blues but, like you said about having fun, I’ve had so much fun sweeping arpeggios and creating my own hybrid use of pentatonic along with other modes, like why force myself to “convincingly” play blues guitar when I frankly have zero motivation to do that? If I’m not enjoying myself when playing music then I’m over it before it begins. Lol so your point about just having fun is like 99% of playing any instrument. There are enough aspects of life that are forced and we have very little say in it, music should be anti-THAT like you said.

@@72_Seasons You probably don't practice right. You have to set clear goals and work towards them rather than noodling around or resorting to exercises that you can already master. I don't believe that there's such a thing as "talent" when it comes to learning something. Hard work can get you anywhere but people with a natural affinity aka "talent" simply do things the right way without realizing. You might not be one of those ppl but that's why you have to analyze your playing and deconstruct your technique. I've been practicing for a year now and I've made major progress in picking and legato. It's all coming together now and every month I discover something new. But i structure my practice sessions based on my weaknesses and avoid just jamming around. Imagine going to the gym and lifting weights without a purpose. For some time you're going to gain because your body gets shocked but at some point your muscles will abbe adapted to your habits (how much weight you lift, when, how many reps, what exercise etc. ) And you'll get stuck in that rut unless you set clear goals and change up your reps and exercises and do progressive overload. Learning the guitar is the same. You have to "shock" your system with new practice approaches. Instead of alternate picking do economy. Use a different pick to get your hand to adjust to a different feel. Practice different scale patterns your fingers aren't used to. Practice in burts where you go really fast for a split second and then you slow down again. Chunk up exercises. Use a metronome and increase by 5-15 BPM every so often etc. No way you are that "untalented". You just need to change things up.

@@Domn879 You don't need to practice 11 or 16 hours a day. Our brains form new connections within 5 minutes of intense focus. If you practice drills for 15 min a day and stay super focused you'll have the same success as some kid noodling pointlessly for 16 hours a day.

alright, i'm gonna dedicate this whole week to play this song, anyone wanna hand me the tabs or do i have to figure it out from the video itself?
@HereafterMusic2 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna learn it by ear. If you want to send me smtn I can contact you with I’ll send you the tabs when I get it figured out
@mindaugasverikovskij27592 жыл бұрын
@@HereafterMusic can you send them to me? thanks
@chrisking66952 жыл бұрын
What would the person who hands you tabs have to do? Figure it out themselves by slowing down the video, which isn't actually hard. If they do that they'll get a good amount of practice while you won't because trying to figure shit out forces you to think hard. That makes new connections in the brain. So my question to you, why would you not want that for yourself? Why would you want someone else to get good at playing and ear training and tabbing while you just sit on your lazy ass waiting to why better at any of those things? I seriously don't get it.
