Compared with other chess channels, I don't understand why you haven't got 10 times more views. You're such a likeable person.

I'm impressed that you were able to give such a thoughtful, balanced analysis of a game that you lost - and do so with a cheerful demeanor that made listening enjoyable.

Nice video! And the situation after blacks d6 (with knights on e5 and g6) is actually very interesting. I once saw a grandmaster play a very similar position with black. He also had the bishop pair and that knight on g6, and after white played Ne5, he responded with Nh8. Then he continued with d6 and put his knight back on g6. He later explained to me that his bishop pair is far stronger when black also has a knight, so he didn't want to exchange it. That probably explains why the computer wants you to take on g6. Without a knight it is much harder for black to generate an attack.

Tough game! I hate being in those kind of positions. This is why I recently changed my study plan to emphasize pawn structures and strategy from mostly calculation-based study sessions. I know a lot of people say that chess is mostly calculation but the truth is that some things we just have to know so that we can make meaningful calculations. Thanks for the recap! gg

good game, at your level doesn't take too much for a game to go wrong and be hard to turn round, expect won't be too long before Alice gets the GM title.

Ouch. Taking the knight on g6 looked unpleasant; but the knight went on to be fearsome enough on its own.
