As someone who still plays New Leaf and is playing rn while watching this I’m happy to see I’m not the only one lol. I like New Horizons but it doesn’t have the same feel as playing on the 3DS. My bf pretty much built up my whole town for me in New Horizons and once when I loaded up the game and just took one look and small walk around I closed it and went back to New Leaf lol. I told him it was gorgeous and I was grateful he made me an awesome town but I was like I just literally put flowers down and hit rocks lol.

It would take such a long time because you could only go up one level per day and if you didn't play a day (or time traveled forward or backwards) you would lose your progress.

im not 100% sure but i think the game pulls the hair, skin, and eye color for your villager from your mii on your 3ds, so if you play on an emulator it will just be the default mii brown hair, light skin, and brown eyes.

I like that one aniators' take on it: New Leaf is for people who want to turn over a new leaf of their own and be responsible. While New Horizons are for the people who just want to mess around all on their own. Each games' Designer DLCs seem to also try to help scratch the itch that the other game lacks. Happy Home gives you more control over a thing isolated from your main game/town. While Happy Island gave people at least a semblance of progression and responsibility,

This made me so nostalgic I love all the nuances to this game like the emblems on the tree stumps, the good luck and bad luck mechanics, the mini games on the islands, the grinding for bugs on the island, the random villagers and the police station and Brewster and all the special items like king tuts head and the Halloween event stuff like it’s so much more interactive to me bc I think majority of these features were removed since we can decorate outside in new horizons. This makes me want to start up new leaf again and see what my villagers are up to after like 6 years 😭

I like New Horizons, but New Leaf will forever be my favourite game of this series. It was my first Animal Crossing game and I started playing it in 2013/14. I remember staying up till late in the evening to head over to the island to catch some rare bugs and make infinite money with it lmao. When I was at my friend's house, we often played together and even at sleepovers we decided to stay up until 10pm, so we can catch rare bugs together. So yeah... nostalgia is a reason why I still love this game so much and why it's my favourite AC, but in 2018 my dumb ass decided to delete their town to start over.... I still want to kick my ass for this. I had nice villagers, I had almost every shop unlocked, I had the police station unlocked, I had many rare items, I had a lot of money and argh. I also have caught many bugs etc., I also had many Street Pass houses. Now they are gone. Everything is gone, because I was stupid- It's not the same anymore; but it still is fun tho. But I still regret it.

ACNH was my first Animal Crossing and after I played it for around 300 hours, I understood that I can't play it anymore - I hated that it was centered around designing, hated that the villagers were exactly the same. By that time, I started to think about buying a 3ds. And then I got it! Bought an old 3ds xl and obviously, New Leaf was my first download. 10 months later - still going! I play almost everyday, for the first time ever I have a town I'm pleased with (i still have to do one part of my town, but otherwise it's completed), i have 200 hours of playtime. I stopped playing New Horizons completely (even sold the cartridge) and New Leaf has clearly become my favorite in the series. Love that you're playing it now!

When I first got new leaf I thought you fell over when your character hadn’t slept for a while, but apparently animal crossing has bad luck days which cause you to trip over. I’m so mad at myself because when I was like 16 I rage reset out of heartbreak 💔 Kyle my closest villager my good time boy, MOVED AWAY WHEN I WENT ON AN OVERNIGHT FIELD TRIP 😢 and DIVA moved in saying “omg I love the town thanks for having me 😘” I miss that town. That was day one game release town. I regret it to this day.

I can't remember all the villagers I had in New Leaf, especially as they would leave whenever I wouldn't play for a while. I know I had Carmen (my bestie), Savannah, Beau, Diana, Hazel, BlueBear, Beardo, Butch, Margie, Flip (who I STILL have beef with for where he put his house 😒) Grizzly, Klaus, Coach... My mind is blanking on any others but I sunk a lot of hours into that game. Nothing compared to New Horizons, but similarly I continued playing long after my friends had stopped.
