I'd just like to add that I've been here since your first Ark video (I think I've commented on every one. I shall also choose to ignore the fact that I haven't hugely kept up with your videos since your first Ark series ended, only watching one every now and then) and I'd just like to say that I am incredibly excited for this. This comment will be updated to add any "necessary" palaeo corrections after I finish watching this video. Ok notes (I've skipped the least important ones, such as the fact that it very much rains in Deserts): 1. While most Vultures are mainly scavengers, they do still very much kill things. 2. I know it doesn't really matter, but I'm going to define what exactly a Dinosaur is here. Dinosaurs are/were a group of Reptiles (Specifically Archosaurs) that have been alive for about 230 million years (Or so). Here's a quick guide for identifying what is, and what is not a Dinosaur. If they can fly and aren't a Bird then they aren't a Dinosaur (With a few exceptions) so Pterosaurs (Or as some people incorrectly call them, Pterodactyls) weren't Dinosaurs. If they lived underwater they probably weren't Dinosaurs, so creatures like Mosasaurus weren't Dinosaurs (They were Lizards). If their legs were sprawled out to their sides instead of directly under them then they weren't a Dinosaur (Think Lizards VS Dogs, Birds or Humans). If they weren't a Reptile then they weren't a Dinosaurs, so Dimetrodons (Which were Synapsids, which is the group Mammals are in), Mammoths (Mammals) and Megalodons (Fish) weren't Dinosaurs where as Birds are. I could add more but this is a good enough guide for now. 3. I hope that this doesn't come off as rude. But how does that look even remotely like a Komodo Dragon? Have you seen a Komodo Dragon before? There are no similarities there other than both being Lizards. A closer comparison would be IRL Thorny Devils/Thorny Dragons. While they are much smaller are appear noticeably different, they are at least more similar than them and Komodo Dragons. 4. The reason to do harder difficulties (Not to suggest that you necessarily should if you don't want to) is because the more difficult the boss, the better the tech you unlock (I won't give any specifics because I don't want to spoil anything, but it gets amazing). This probably isn't too relevant to you though, because you don't seem to have decided to transfer over engrams, equipment or character levels (Or any tames, not that that's relevant). I presume that that means that you didn't transfer over your old character, but I haven't played Ark in a while so I could easily be wrong. 5. I'm pretty surprised that you somehow haven't heard of Manticores before, but oh well.

You had the luckiest scorched earth start I have ever seen. I've never seen anyone start out on scorched earth without the weather eating away at their health from the first second. Its usually a race to get cloth clothes and a thatch hut up before you die of heat. You managed to wander 1/3rd of the way across the map and die a couple of times to predators before having to worry about the temp at all.

Trauma and suffering, just what we wanted :) Welcome to the desert. Only Butch could find argies before finding moths! Hint: the southernmost part of the river is a great base location. About the sandstorm, it makes you not recover stamina, and sand goes down your crack and up your inventory. Mod recommended: Solo Farm, it makes you able to farm easier on solo, the same way people farm on servers with more people, so it is not cheating, just making it fair.

I prefer midlands four myself. The ledges there give you a bit of height and safety, not sure about Ascended but in evolved it also has one of the few pools or water that don't get Kapro spawns.

about bloody time lad. i'm a 90s baby myself bro, 93 to be exact, but you're so right. i was saying it the other day that games aren't as enjoyable anymore due to the amount of guides online for whatever you are playing, you can basically get guided to the finish line with your phone propped up next to your pc/console with some guides playing. back in the day, take spyro for example, you'd have no way of finding out how things work besides actually putting the game on, watching and listening to the cinematics, and playing it. you discovered everything on your own terms in your own way, unless you had a friend stay over who has already completed it. people don't play games to explore & have fun anymore... they play to win and complete a game instead of getting immersed into the world and discovering things. it is all about "how do i do this to get that" or "best way to farm this, or that".... completely strips the fun out of any game when you take the discovery element away. quick tip on thyla.... if you want the metal and obsidian on the cliff, tap & hold space while walking into the cliff wall. thylas are climbers. you're welcome :)

Also, @ButchX3 Always have a Jerboa on you and learn the sounds they make 5 minutes before the weather changes. For each weather event there's a different signal, this way you won't be caught off guard by sandstorms or superheats, which are the most dangerous of the events (Sandstorm: Low vis and stamina drain. Superheat: scorching hot temps but great for the legendary phoenix to spawn)

Holy hell, that's a LOT of progress and what a long episode as well. :D It's great to have you back in Ark! It makes me want to finally install Survival Ascended myself. There are 2 things I'd like to mention. First, as you saw the obelisks only display one boss that you can teleport to. And I'll just be blunt: Scorched Earth is the smallest main story map in terms of content. So this might not be as long of a series - and that's before even taking into account how much more experienced you are this time around. Second... just a little nod at the furry little guy at 5:34 . Best travel buddies.

Butch, you dont have to ride the Anky to harvest metal just hover over the metal and the Anky will swing after a moment as long as its close/in the metal, dont drop the Anky just keep attached to the Argie same works for Doeds and stone

Oh I know that, I'm (for unreleated reasons) doing a hard core run to see how far I get with a total in game play time of one year. Death = wipe and restart from scratch. Longest I've made it is about forty days, shortest is the end of the opening when the carnovore I spawned on eats me. Current count forty three deaths, current total days 114 with an aveage survival time of two and half days between a death.

Just a heads up Butch: Scorched only has one boss and no tek cave. It's one of the fastest maps to play through in my experience, and its boss is generally considered one of the easiest. Aberration is a little longer but still has only one boss, and Extinction is ridiculous with 3 smaller (tameable!) bosses, 1 final boss in gamma and beta difficulties, and a super crazy alpha difficulty version of that final boss that is a totally different boss fight from gamma and beta.

Remember. There’s a transfer all button. When I was little, before the internet, I loved to play Putt Putt Saves the Zoo. I had rescued all the baby animals, except the lion cub. She was stuck halfway up a waterfall and I had no idea how to save her. There was no internet to just look it up. I actually ended up having a dream about lowering a rope to get her and the moment I woke up I ran to the computer to try it. It was exactly what I needed to do.

40:26 "Gift from the gods". 😂 We, who have played Ark for years knew immediately what a fleeing herbivore meant. It means a carnivore isn't too far away. It's a sign to either run or get prepared for battle. Watching gameplay from someone who hasn't played much of Ark Survival games is truly a treasure.

Loving the ark play throughs brother, nd with a few thousand hrs under me belt I rekon I can say you've earned your stripes with the vanilla gameplay if your thinking about adding mods, ark is a punishing game and there's plenty of QOL mods to make the day to day processes more streamline. You mentioned the nanny mod which is a must for breeding and if you want to cut down the waiting time while taming the appetiser mod is awesome, its a mod where you can make something like narcotics that drains the tames food so they eat straight away, this can be made into a tranq dart too. These 2 aren't gamebreaking but make things so much easier. Happy hunting!! I too love building and the bobs tall tails dlc has some awesome additions with pretty cool cosmetic items too its worth a look in my opinion

I'll accept you doing the manticore and aberration boss on gamma. But you HAVE to do the extinction final boss on gamma AND alpha. Otherwise, you will miss out greatly, because the alpha version is a totally different boss fight with totally different mechanics.

My first death on Scorched Earth was by raptor, too. Do you want answers to your questions? Sweet Roo, he didn't know, it wasn't his fault. I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see you just doing things that not that long ago your followers had to convince you to try. There is such a thing as quality of life. Meaning, it doesn't add to your experience to spend 3 hours taming your first PT and it doesn't help you to wait a week for an egg to hatch (that's an actual week, not an in-game week) There are mods or you can play with settings, your choice. Do you remember where you can read the explorer notes? Check that, you just unlocked a new character.

So glad to see my favorite #1 Ark KZbinr back for more of my favorite game! So excited to see how it goes! I am curious why you didn't transfer your character over from The Island. Butch, you're a pro Ark player. Knowing that Thyla and Argent are clutch tames. You're truly an ascended survivor. Protip: drag a torch to your tame's saddle. You're welcome. Lastly, Scorched Earth is a short play. Maybe 1/4 the time of the island. Don't get too caught up on long-long-game strategies. Also, on a side note, your Grounded playthrough got me to play it, and I enjoyed it significantly less. But still fun.
