It's always fun watching someone play Astroneer for the first time! A few small tips: always keep a soil canister on you. This way, you can use the flatten mode of the terrain tool to build ramps into thin air, like to the cave floor from the hole you dug. The angle you build the ramp at is based on the polygon you start from, and the circle / reticle I think will show you that that angle is. You can also dig flat tunnels down into caves this way. You may already be doing it, but you can shift-click on something to pick it up. This will put small items right into your backpack, or will put a medium sized item like the medium solar panel or wind turbine in our hands so you can carry it (just one at a time though)

I'd be down for some Astroneer if you want to do more. Might get me back into playing it. There's been a big story update it seems. The sky looking like a 'dome' was not purely for style

There was a glorious time before the compass and waypoints where you would take your first run and suddenly realize that you had no effing idea where home was. I’ve spent many a night trying to find home, and weirdly, I look on those times fondly.

Yes, it took me hours sometimes, but the tension of the long journey with limited resources for survival added to the game experience. I used to build giant pointy things as guides.

Awsome! It's been a while since I've seen this! PS: I really recommend the 10min. training session from the start menue ;) You miss some basic mechanics, but you got most preatty quick

I may have cut out a bit of the time spent figuring out mechanics! The UI in particular is difficult to understand at first glance. I'll take a look at that training session!
@BreynDedd
@BreynDedd Жыл бұрын
There is no training session (i.e. tutorial) any more. It was removed by the developers. Instead, you have several information slides available in the Astropedia, which is accessible in the menu, or by hitting the F1 key.

Some tips for ya. I've played this game since 2018 or so. You want to keep a soil canister on you at all times. When you dig, you can store some in the canister. By holding alt or shift, you can add terrain in a couple different ways. You can fold and unfold you medium storages. You can turn off your small generators when you don't need them. Just hover you mouse on stuff and see if there is a use function. Some small (1 slot) items can be placed on the ground and act as their own platform, just like the small generator and small printer. I think there is a tutorial level you can access from the main menu. The soil centrifuge is your friend.

what is the difference of folding or unfolding storages? not played a lot, but never found a use to fold the storage
@VroomNDoom2602

@Blackeagle functionally, there is no difference, except you can see all resources on a storage when it is laid out flat.

I also started Astroneer 1-2 months ago, since I didn't know about this game until recently. Sadly this game was my go-to after I found out No Man's Sky wouldn't run on my PC (even though it meets minimum requirements, but I've heard it's a bad PC port so the info isn't 100% correct on what they posted for requirements). Thankfully Astroneer is a good enough game that I stuck with it, and it also helps a bit that I used to play Minecraft (there's a few similarities but not a ton, mostly resource collecting and building). I just started on Atrox and it's not as tough as I expected, but then again if you do okay on other planets before going to Atrox it's not that bad apparently. On that note, I've played Space Engineers and couldn't get into it. But that's just me probably.

Here is some tips: The power tips: - The generator(one that's powered by organic) is using organic while working, it uses organic always the same rate, doesn't matter if it's powering something or not, so mind to turn it off to not waste your organic (press F on generator to turn it off). - The tractor (and all of same type) have a battery built in, so don't run generator while zooming on it, because it's not using all of generated power. - Voltage IS a thing in this game, you can see voltage on power sockets, that yellow curved-around bar. - You can make modules work faster by connecting power supply, that adds voltage The landfill instrument: - Hold Alt to switch from digging to filling (it will use soil from container, that you built earlier) - Hold Ctrl to switch to flatten mode this mode is quite difficult to get hang of it, when you start holding LMB it selects polygon that's under your cursor and dig or fill terrain to make flat surface angled exactly like that polygon.

(10:32) The reason the Printer was skipping things was because you have not researched very many things yet, and you can only see the things you have researched, (10:35) and for the research table if you were confused, the four pages are for the different sizes of printers, your backpack's printer, the small, the medium, and the large.

build trailers to tow behind the tractor and load them with storage racks to collect stuff. there are assorted attachments you can install on it like miners to make roads and paths. Space Engineers already has the self righting capability = it's called a Gyroscope! a little override in the right direction and your rover is upright again.

PLZ MAKE SERIES THIS GAME IS SOOOOOO FUN. If i see anything that you could do or need help with i will help if needed You still need that small printer. The bushes with the things you call *hats* they regenerate. The reason your large printer and other things are going slow is because they dont have enough power. Id recommend a bunch of small wind turbines and batteries Untill the end its you and yourself in your solar system. no animals 5:40. Spolier below There are 7 snails in early to late game to collect

dont feel bad about the snail shells. they are labelled as discarded. you also get more bytes out of them if you use a research scanner, which also gets bytes from those large green blobs and minerals. its usually double or triple the bytes given by hand scan items, those research items in the crates will give you nearly 1500 bytes. also the small printer can do things the medium cant. keeps things from being like SE with an advanced refinery and advance assembler. the tethers can be quick dropped from either shoulder slot or from the main pack. a good strategy i like doing is just mapping out a cave system nearest my base with a full pack of tethers and a work light. finding any crates is usually my main priority. wind needs that streaky effect across the screen to have enough wind, solar is more reliable but needs batteries to get through the night

I've been playing Astroneer for 5 to 6 years, and I have to say it is a joy to see people enjoying the game for the first time. It's also pretty sad that they can't pull a proper tutorial to ease people into the UI and mechanics. So much unnecessary suffering doing even the simplest of things. But still, loved the energy!

I'm currently looking for third person space exploration. Which one is more recommended? Astroneer or No Man's Sky?
@AndrewmanGaming
@AndrewmanGaming Жыл бұрын
I can't really say. I've only played like 2 hours of Astroneer so I really don't know how far it goes with the exploration. Space Engineers on the other hand is more of a sandbox game than an exploration one. There are some scenarios you can play that have populated areas to explore but for the most part it's an empty world populated by the things you add to it. If you want a proper exploration game, you could take a look at something like Elite Dangerous which boasts a 1:1 simulation of the Milky Way galaxy with supposedly 400 billion star systems. It's not really for me since I prefer the sandbox style of Space Engineers but if you truly want exploration, that might be more your speed. That or No Man's Sky lol.
