I hate to be the one to break it to you Kevin, but if 2k made a baseball game today, it wouldn’t have any charm or passion put into it. Ever since NBA2k18 they have half asses every single game they’ve made and solely focus on finding ways to bleed their fan base dry with micro transactions and paywalls

@@fony09 it was still way better than what 2k has. Nba 2k with Ben Wallace on the cover was decent. But that was the only one. But yes, I believe nba live was good gameplay wise. 100%, It was an arcade basketball game more than simulation. That was understood.

When I got an Xbox 360 instead of a ps3 , mlb 2k was all I had and it served me extremely well. When they announced they were ending the series I was devastated and pissed. 2k was at a point where they only cared about NBA and they hardly tried with MLB anymore but being it was my only baseball game at the time, I enjoyed it throughly

Maybe I'm the only one, but I think MLB 2K only declined after 09. 2K10 was still fine, but I liked how the game looked a lot better in 09. 2K10 also set the tone for the reminder of the games they released, it followed the same formula. It was downhill from there. The peak mediocrity was 2K12. The characters all moved in weird robotic ways, graphics got worse, presentation was minimum and every game felt the same. I feel like after 2k9 they just gave up on the franchise altogether, they knew there was no way to compete with The Show. I can speak without bias on this matter because I didn't have a PS3 back then and I was stuck with 2k baseball games for many years. After I was finally able to play them all I can say The Show was always better and more fun to play. 2K7 and 2K9 are probably the only ones who could go toe to toe with its counterpart.

You should have compared the hair of Manny Ramirez in 2k7-8 to todays game. I remember being impressed with Manny’s hair after they finally gave him the long hair. Then 15 years later the show 24’s trailer was basically a hair commercial showing off the new hair

In 2002 for consoles, there was this series for Dreamcast (made by SEGA), the MLB series for PlayStation (precursor to The Show), Triple Play (precursor to MVP), and High Heat for the main series. Lots of other sims on PC, but those were the big ones from my memory. Most of the small offshoots ended by 2002.

So just a heads up, 2K was created by Sega Sports…that’s why the older games were only on Dreamcast. It was a console exclusive, EA Sports made Triple Play back then & that would be on PlayStation & PC.

I don’t know what this idea of the 2K games being good is. You had maybe 2 players on the team have a face scan, everyone else was generic. Fly balls consistently fell. The gloves always looked terrible. I remember having an Xbox wishing I could play the show

In 2002 I had at least 4 baseball games. Triple Play by EA, High Heat by 3D0, 2K by Sega, and All-Star Baseball by Konami. There was also MLB 02 from 989. The sports gaming world before exclusivity contracts was amazing.

MLB 2k10 was my shit man. My first baseball game was actually MVP 06 and I wanted badly to play an actual major league baseball game. Booting the game up holy shit it looked like real life compared to MVP 06 lol. I played the absolute piss out of it, probably created dozens of players, several my player careers, just a great game.

On 2K3 they probably have the game velocity tied to the FPS (probably they game was done on Renderware as the GTA), so maybe thats why its going so slow

MLB2K1 has no control of fielders. it was a big uproar at the time but they ran out of time development wise and rushed it to market. I still really enjoyed the game.
