Two games worth trying are Subside, a swimming game that just released, and Ancient Dungeon, where you physically swing a sword and throw a dagger while spelunking. Also, you can reduce motion sickness in games that appear to lag by reducing your headset's refresh rate, it's an easy to find setting and will increase battery life as well.

YES! Just make sure to mod the game to get custom songs if you want a better experience. Most of the songs that are "Hard" difficulty or lower are not the best but there are some custom song mappers that make good ones. Its mostly trial and error but once you play more, it gets easier and more fun!

*A hack with VR for both figuring out room orientation and soothing motion sickness,* _is simply a fan._ Feeling the fan helps you figure out where you are in the physical room and (for some people) helps your brain compute that you are indeed standing in place.

The thing I found odd about VR is that I get so horribly motion sick in any vehicle but felt nothing while using VR. I don’t think my brain saw it as real, it just felt like I was watching tv or something. I also am really scared of heights and had no problems. I played one of those roller coaster “games” and I just sat there with a blank face because it just felt like I was watching a video. It’s the same disassociation I get when I wear glasses and suddenly it feels like I’m watching everything on a screen.

My advice to you Do not power through motion sickness If you feel even a bit queasy, take the headset off, wait a good two hours, put it back on. If you expose yourself to it that way, within a week, you'll last 6 hours in intense games. If you power through it, it gets worse, it lasts longer, and it primes you to get motion sick again purely through anticipation.

I get motion sickness even from regular gaming so I usually can only play for an hour in many cases (exception being modern Final Fantasy games. These I can usually play...I dunno, three, four hours or more if I'm really getting into the story, lol. But that's exactly it, I have cutscenes to break up the gameplay and that really helps with the gaming headaches and slight nausea).

Hey, I have a theory on how to get over VR sickness. You mentioned not feeling sick during pistol whip, and that made me think. I used to get pretty bad VR sickness, but kept trying to get over it to play Boneworks (great game, btw), but nothing really worked. In one of the levels, there's a train cart you can control, but it doesn't go far. It immediately slams into a wall, and I found it funny I kept almost stumbling in real life although I knew it there was no actual danger. So I kept playing around with it and being mindful of how I was just standing in a room watching a game, until I no longer stumbled. After this moment, I've had next to zero VR sickness. So if you're willing to put up with crippling VR nausea that goes on for hours for science, you'd make an amazing test subject. They're kinda hard to find.

Personally I've a decent amount of gripes: * Instead of going on sale after years of being out, it has gone up in price. * On top of that, it has 609$ worth of DLC. *You have to pay for it separately on both Quest and PCVR, when the Quest version is obviously inferior. I can't support this sort of grift, even with a dedicated modding community.

@@GeekyGami calling beat saber a grift is absolutely fucking wild my guy. It has not gone up in price since it came out, it was $20 in 2018 when it was in early access, when the game was fully released (in 2019, ONE year later) it got raised to $30, something TONS of early access games do because they don't want to charge full price for something that isn't finished yet. The DLC are songs that they had to buy the rights to to make levels, that shit is EXPENSIVE, and you act like LITERALLY ALL of those songs aren't available with community maps with mods for FREE. All of that DLC is just $2 optional levels. I'm not super familiar with quest, but isn't it the case with all games that when you buy them in the quest store you don't also get them in steam?

VR motion sickness tip: check the settings on your games! A big issue is peripheral vision, so a lot of games will include a setting to black out your peripheral vision while you’re moving. It’s a major game changer

As a VR veteran now (3+ years) I'd say that a lot of the motion sickness goes away with time -- but you need to go slow and just go with the flow. Also -- you're totally right about framerate! If something dips below a certain framerate in VR, you'll naturally feel queasy. Loved the vid!
@shanmayy
@shanmayy 3 ай бұрын
If you try more, Holopoint is one I used to super vibe with! Archery based gameplay but the targets shoot back at you after you hit them, so it's a lot of movement via dodging and turning. Bonus, you're in one spot so you don't get too queasy!

I ADORE VR!!! Quick tip I’ve heard works WONDERS if you have motion sickness. Get a standing fan or box fan and point it at yourself while you play, this will help center yourself in your room and help give your body and brain some direction as to where you are at in your room. I don’t have motion-sickness so I can’t speak to the effectiveness but I hope it helps someone!

Superhot is one of my favorite VR games, but yeah, definitely not much of a workout lol. I will say, though, the Speedrun Real Time gamemode *is* a great workout. You only have a few seconds to beat each stage, so you have to be constantly in motion to dodge attacks and kill the enemies. Definitely a ton of fun too

(In my opinion) - The Reality Show for Superheroes - The Whodunnit Series - I Can’t Believe PBS Kids Aired This Episode Seriously tho, I can’t count how many times I’ve laughed until my stomach hurt watching this channel. @@Evanz111 I think it depends on how actively you engage in fights. I play in a relatively small area, about the bare minimum for a Quest 2, but it's enough to dodge, reposition, and generally be aggressive. There's a little wall smacking involved but that's the price you pay for glory.

As a certified Beatsaber lover I audibly gasped when you said Beatsaber was boring :O my feelings are hurt, Scott. They’re hurt 😔 For me Beatsaber got infinitely more fun the more difficult I was able to play the levels. And when I deliberately put my whole body into playing it’s even more fun. I don’t like to do the minimum for that game. I do the most and I often break out into a sweat and play for about an hour each time.
