I Played God of War in 2024

Hey guys!
So after years of putting it off, I finally played God of War in 2024. I wanted to share with you my thoughts on this game, it's world, it's story, and whether it holds up today. Let's dive into it!

In my opinion, God of War’s storyline is much more genuine and fluid than Ragnorok. Ragnorok is definitely a bit rushed in some categories, for example when the battle rampaged in Asgard. It would’ve been perfect if they probably did a dlc or a part two for Ragnorok to leave room for more character growth for example Freyr and Thor. We catch a glimpse of how broken Thor is because of his father and would’ve been nice to see more character development on him, and Freyr because when he died I didn’t feel anything on his death because we didn’t grow on him cause he didn’t really have much screen time. Regardless of criticism, I love the first God of War. The story is just beautiful. 15/10. Ragnorok I’ll give it a 8/10! Graphics for both games are amazing! Combat is amazing! Everything is amazing! I hope they find a great story and take their time if they do end up making another god of war game!

If you loved God of war 2018 wait until you get to Ragnarok. Both are masterpieces as far as I’m concerned.

@@pixel8ted I loved Ragnarok, that might be my favorite in the whole series, it’s the only God of war game that as soon as I beat it, immediately started the game over.

If there's one thing that the new gow aren't are masterpieces, the ones on Ps2 were doing impressive things for the time and even for today's parameters while a gow on ps5 can't even deliver a decent boss fight

Now play gow Ragnarok, then I recommend life is strange. Bought it earlier this month and I absolutely loved it, now I can't wait to play life is strange double exposure when it releases at the end of the month.

One of the biggest fans of the OG trilogy but I couldn't finish this on PS4, only years later on PC when i could mod a higher FoV, the basic 68 console tunnel vision FoV gives me a migraine, I have plenty more negatives but pretty much all of those seem to be fixed in ragnarok except the FoV slider damn it Sony....

This game has the best combat... its the only game where you feel in control the whole time... besides sigrun and sometimes the revenants

I agree that Atreus slowly descended into this self-righteous attitude of "I'm a god and can do what I want" and it was believable, but then he snapped out of that too quickly and too abruptly. He went from shooting an arrow at Kratos in rage to Kratos sternly talking to him while they are in Helheim which somehow immediately made him snap back into innocent Atreus to the point that seeing visions of his past self already made him think "was that really me?" - that was rushed, felt like they had a plan for him to slowly come back and then had to either cut content and make it happen quicker or just kind of forgot to flesh out that story and by then all the rest of the pieces were in place so they rushed his story.

yeah, and this doesn't even have an effect/importance in the sequel, just like Spiderman 2, Ragnarok seems extremely rushed, it was disappointing

@@ValaduhrShara I actually enjoyed the Ragnarok story more, and if anything I think it was WAY too slow at times (the yak - need I say more?). A lot of people felt that this one tugged at their emotions, but for me, Ragnarok did that much better. Plus, the trailer is just so hype - "death can have me when it earns me" sends chills down my spine.

@@PeterDB90 This phrase is good because it represents the big problem for me, there are no other characters to like besides Kratos in the PS2 games, so I thought that as this new series is focused more on the narrative side that would be different but it wasn't, I didn't care about Atreus and Freya, I thought the dwarves and Mimir were cool but that's it, Kratos is still the only character I had any attachment to, so all of his dialogues were memorable, so the whole franchise comes down to just him and It's impossible to imagine it without him.

@@ValaduhrShara I guess I kind of agree with you on that, except that the dwarves and Mimir are more than just "cool" to me, they're great characters, just not as great or as pivotal as Kratos.

it really seems rushed but you have to remember that kratos is still atreus' father so listening to his father isnt wrong too

I don't think so, the graphical update from zero dawn to forbidden west is very noticeable. Ragnarok looks the same as 2018, what could they even do?

Honestly, they shouldn't have bothered with Horizon zero dawn. They didn't even think of Bloodborne. That was the worse game to remaster, Sony have so many other games that they could have invested in. Zero Dawn is good enough, especially with the release of fobidden west, there was no need.

@@shawntroy1 i agree there are lots of games that needed a remaster more than zero dawn, but it's not like this remaster is completely useless. Facial animations were quite bad, and in a narrative based game like this it's very distracting.

No, that's actually why I avoided them! I feel like the combat at first can feel button mashy, but as it grows it's far from it.
