What I appreciate sm about the foliage is the amount of smaller shrubs and taller grasses. Too many games make forests arguably worse to traverse through because the foliage either doesn’t render far enough to provide ample concealment or immersion. Plenty of games as popular as tarkov or squad have a pretty big problem with yhis

My personal opinion on the gameplay loop should be basically arma 3 antistasi mixed with helldivers, the basis of the game is 3 pmc factions fight over control over the exclusionary zone....so control of POIs would be important and those POIs should grant buffs to your supply lines and capability. Is rolling 4 deep in a toyota hi lux doing hoodrat shit too much to ask for?

Your niche problems section, i feel like has already been addressed. The three factions are not dropping in together at all, each faction will have a Base near the "zone" and when you join you will select your faction. Players who "Grief" or team kill, will be heavily punished, and as they have said in previous videos, potentially be kicked out from the faction, If you are kicked from the faction you will have to do missions to regain favor with the faction that youve been removed from. This means that if you team kill enough, you may be left SOLO, and theyve talked about how this could open the doors to playing alongside the bandit factions within the game, but they have not fleshed that out at all yet. Traders are locked to factions, and as such, your equipment availability will be highly dependent on being in a faction. Making it much less likely that griefers will be actively ruining the experience.

its only address if its implemented, which we just haven't seen yet. its the same thing as tarkov devs saying how they want to add in PMC karma, but haven't yet. the implementation is incredibly difficult. what happens if i'm a good boy all the time, and then teamkill a single time either by accident or on purpose? how do you tell if it was accidental or not? even the SCAV karma punishment in EFT isn't enough to dissuade someone from scav killing you if they watch you pick up incredibly valuable loot

Just go back to simple Team kills within a certain time frame gets you booted. Karma systems are overly complicated for what needs to be done here. I understand that Karma can be well done, and be super complicated. But for the fact of controlling griefers the code basically needs to say If player kills x teammates in x time, boot from pmc group. Getting back in should not be easy, i would say minimum like a 3 mission quest line to get back in, something like an hour and a half to 4 hours gameplay to rejoin your pmc group. This way the number of people who are just griefing to grief would get reduced significantly. Karma is complicated, but i dont think that you need karma to address griefers. In tarkov if your a smart scav, you can still get around the karma system by baiting another player, and once they hit you, its open season.

I watched this in Drewski’s POV and in his video it does bring up a good point, ngl this does feel reminiscent to Arma 3 Watseland or rather Exile, where 3 factions do PvE related quests, and it’s not as PvP focus but the option is there… rn based on the footage the game looks like Ground Branch and Arma 3 Exile made a baby

In my very honest opinion, and I mean NO offense at all, Dev studios should stop listening to the opinions of "content creators". There will be too many different interests at play when they do. Devs should listen to the players and to ppl with real world knowledge, be it about the game's theme, be it about game development. Content creators do NOT represent players, nor were they appointed to such. They could help with digital marketing, but not so much with the devving. There are exceptions though. There are CC's WITH those aformentioned kinds of knowledge. But still... the interests will be there anyway. Stop listening to CCs. Make your own damn mind, and take your own damn chances. There's a reason contemporary games have been failing, right along with the rise of the CCs.

If you look collectively at the test videos for GZW, you can tell 90% of these content creators have no idea how to play a tactical shooter. It's almost laughable when you see some of them. All trying to push through doorways together, into alleys, running backwards and forwards into each other.

Great video! Gameplay has and always will be the most important element of any game... take the countless fails of AAA titles compared to many indie titles...there is something unique in those player interactions ala Dayz, if balanced with immersion.

This stuff was present in the original Crysis back in 2007 -- plus you could completely level entire forests in that game, which was awesome. It's kind of sad how we still don't have a proper tactical FPS game that surpasses those features even to this day.

Depending on the weapon caliber, the gas from the weapon will move vegetation that can be noticed by the AI. Devs mentioned this in another vid.

theres also plenty of pve focused games, but those aren't played as much as the PvP ones for a reason. I have no problems with PvE, it means that the E must be incredibly believable and challenging, which is just not the case at this point in time in GZW. i am hoping they can significantly improve this, but you can look at teams like RoN who have spent plenty of time and effort in AI, but still have issues. not to mention AAA studios that spend millions of dollars in development, still have issue with AI

PVP should be secondary. There are already far too many games focused on PVP, which destroys games. No one talks about this. Too much focus goes to metas, grinding to get access to metas, and than people who no life the game for years.....shouldn't have to constantly deal with that...just my opinion

Nah I love the PvE aspect. As someone who's tired of having to be 100% serious about each raid in Escape from Tarkov, this would be a great balance between that game and something like Ghost Recon Wildlands (something the developer made very clear are his two favorite games & main inspiration for this one). Its suppose to be a more casual and friendly experience.

I agree, I absolutely love tarkov but it gets really tiring after a few raids because of how on your toes you need to be constantly, casual gameplay feels impossible because you're always listening for footsteps and shit lol. PvE is awesome as long as the AI are well done and with occasional player combat

I think if they introduce a ware between two factions, that is constant and ever changing regardless of you being in the server or not, and than you and your faction can either side with one side or the other. Each side having its own storyline, or go rouge and only loot and shoot. It would give the player more room to explore. However problems with games like ghost recon is once you beat it. Than you’ve beat it. Games like tarkov were you can’t technically win you just grind, retain players. So maybe instead of just a loot and shoot, you introduce objectives that must be taken as well and if you are killed not only do you loose gear but you loose territory. I think that would cause a huge amount of intricate problem solving requirements and tactical gaming as well as the loot and shoot. Zero to hero and than once your a hero you have to lead. You get killed you loose it all and have to pick up the pieces of your failure and continue to figure out the climb.

I've seen the same critics for other games where the gunplay is cool, graphics are good, etc but there's no game to be played. It's just a cool demo to showcase one or two features. I hope gray zone can bring something different. Since there's seem to be a single large map with 3 factions I think it'd be cool to have some base mechanics, more like dayz and rust than tarkov. I really think tarkov would benefit from something similar with bear/usec but now the game is pretty much a solo experience.

you've not followed along with the development process of GZW have you? the goal of the game is to reveal what happened on the island, by doing missions and finding in-game information you get to piece together a story with deep lore that is (according to the devs) intriguing and will pull you in to find out more and more. you played 1 mission from, which is gonna be the 4th or 5th mission you can undertake in when EA releases, this means you're still being sent to the starter/easy area to get to grips with game mechanics. the AI there is the easiest of the entire game and they get smarter, more accurate, and better equiped the more inland you go. don't get me wrong it's cool to see someone disagree with 95% of the other youtubers who participated in this playtest, but to me it feels like you are uninformed and just got to play a game out of the blue without any prior knowledge about what that game aims to be. i still liked the video, since i respect your opinion and the time you spent voicing that opinion. you've also played the game and i have not. therefore i'd agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Imo games geared toward realism should have minimal amounts of pvp mainly because people will purposely try to break the game to win. I wish more effort was put Into AI and bot behavior in PvE games. Ready or not is the best I've seen in any game, they don't feel cheap and easy to fight against and their movement seems so fluid and not scripted at all.

I hate the PvP, we need intelligent AI and co-op more often. PvP just gets hackers and modded hardware to get an advantage. There needs to be more biomes to fight in as well, not just jungle which is all I’ve seen thus far.

Nope. Still not onboard, and not sure I will be anytime soon. Thanks to GB, Six Days, and RoN, I've learned my lesson that a pretty game means absolutely nothing to me anymore. I wish them good luck I guess, but unless it releases and becomes a shock hit like Helldivers 2, I won't be wasting my money.

Is it me of do the rifles look a little on the thin side. Also I think the thing that you are missing is while yes PvP is going to be less in this game than say tarkov. It means that when it happens it's going to be a more impactful fight. Now that means the adrealin junkies might get more bored with GZW, but for me I can only play tarkov for small bits at a time as it really starts to wear on my nerves since I'm constantly on edge. The AI definietly needs to be improved but I don't think that it needs to be more PvP focused. Plus if they add in more survival elements or a really robust injury system and make gun fights very intense and impactful then I think it will do well. Time will tell.

to be fair , i agree. if madfinger games don't want PvP to be the core experience the PvE AI need to start being on par with a player. If i had to play Single Player Tarkov with their default braindeath AI , i would have quit months ago but the SAIN mod makes it insanely hard , unique and fun. But this , if the AI stays this dumb as shown in the video i will very much not buy it cause this would be boring within two weeks no matter how great it looks.

@@SpaceMissile I do feel like FPS is much better with the latest few updates but at launch some maps with certain sections (mostly glass) like valley of the doll, Lethal Obsession, the hospital etc. had (and still kinda do have) major random FPS drops due to, from my guess lighting conditions.

@@noobguy9973 touché. admittedly, i have experienced some stuttering periodically, but it's definitely still playable. the subreddit especially makes it seem like the game is garbo though, and I just don't see it that way.
