This is more of a personal video but I really wanted to share the things I've learned over the past few years that helped me to become a better musician and person. Hope you find it interesting, and if you do, make sure to like and subscribe!
I'd love to know what are the lessons YOU have learned and feel like everyone should know it, everyone would be better learning it as soon as possible. Let us know in the comments!
If you need help with your accent like I do, I highly recommend Brian, he is amazing!

I always stressed to my students that, if they stay in music (or any career) long enough, they WILL make every mistake that there is to be made. And, perhaps, they will invent some new ones too. That's life.

Hi I love this video. I am 78 years old and began learning classical guitar a couple of years ago. I am also a retired psychotherapist and I used to be a personal development coach. Studying classical guitar and guitar practice is such a brilliant way to continue to develop oneself. Your video has much to say about life in general and not just guitar practice. Thank you. Beatrix

As a Classical guitarist some of the things i would and now do differently is to learn a piece slowly .. then even slower and sort out the fingering from day one where possible. It is much easier to learn a piece the right way rather than un-learn the wrong way and change it after it has been memorised. Learn it once and learn it right, always easier said than done when all you want to do is have fun and make Music 🙂 (loving the insights and Vids by the way)

That’s so true, I think we all need to learn to be more patient and slow down to process! As you said, it’s harder to fix things when they are already settled. Good point!

I think there's a small irony in me clicking this video because I was specifically thinking "I want to listen to Beatrix talk, I enjoy listening to her" and then hearing all the talk of being displeased with who you are. Idk if you're reading this but you definitely have the right personality for at least one person out there

One thing I learned from research on the web and experience is that if You think of doing something and talking about it to yourself and people. Your brain actually thinks that you are already doing the thing and makes you feel disappointed because you learned nothing because you only thought doing that thing. So YES dont think too much just DO!

The most difficult thing for me was the feel of everything is a waste whatever i do, music was the only thing that i've enjoyed and been enjoying since my 12 years. And i realized that, there is much to learn about life. It took a long time to understand that nothing is mortal it just change, so everything we do or create is an important thing in the world. 😊 I have the same duvet cover btw 😝 Veerrry comfy 😄😆

If you haven't read The War of Art and Turning Pro I would highly recommend these 2 books. Both are fantastic and should absolutely be read back to back. They are very short, but offer great ideas of sitting down to create or practice. The perceptions you get from these books are priceless.

this is really great. and fwiw, when i first came across your videos, i was like, wow, i wish i was more like this elegant Hungarian woman who plays elegant classical guitar, instead of a chaotic Australian who can only get himself to write once or twice a week. i guess if there's a lesson here, it's that the way we see ourselves reflects our own insecurities back at ourselves, and bears v little relation to the way other people see us. anyway, thank you for what you do, and thank you for a video that turned out to be exactly what i needed after a couple of really shitty days

Well said! There's a cognitive-behavioral tool called "behavioral activation" that is based on the premise that you have to it before you feel like doing. It is used for people who suffer from depression and lost the interest for the things they used to enjoy. I've been using it to get me to practice guitar for at least... Surprise surprise! 5 minutes! Thank you for sharing those tips! You made me feel reassured!

Thanks for a very inspirational video, just being you is always the best person you can be,( unless of coarse you are a beast then make t he needed changes of course). Can I ask do you like Joe Cocker, reason I asked because the thing I liked about him was because he was raw visceral, what you got was the real deal, no choreographer had got to him and plasticised him for the mass music market. It was his uniqueness was what made him so loved, love or hate him, he was just the real deal. My point, just be you and don't ever feel you need to apologise to anybody for it. The important and worthwhile people in your life will still love you and they will do so exactly because you are you, they don't want the plasticised version! ( P.S. news flash- none of your would be detractors are perfect either, despite what they might like you to believe). All the best with your career.😊

If you stop eating those burgers, you will have more energy for practicing. Replace burgers with fruit. And then eat more fruit. And more. Unlimited fruit. You will be surprised by the result.

@beatrixguitar :) nice try. Just shows how much you don't know. I have been eating tons of fruit for decades. I am much older than you. My doctor was surprised recently that my blood sugar was perfect and so was my cholesterol. You are such a good guitarist, that means you have patience and you research. You have to be analytical and don't accept everything the 'authorities' force on you. Research takes time but it may save your life. I will not bother you anymore with unwanted advice. We all make choices...

@@VojvodinaNetI have nothing against fruit (in my opinion, they're healthier (i.e. more nutritious) than vegetables and roots/tubers). I could eat rock hard apples, grapes and berries all day, but they sadly are all man-made (i.e. genetically modified. Yes. We tend to believe that GMOs are a product of industrial farming when, technically, genetic modification of crops started when we began cultivating and cross-breeding them) and heavily sprayed with pesticides, fungicides and the fields upon which they grow with herbicides (for "weed" control). Also, if she ate burgers and other American garbage all day, no matter how much she walked and ran and did ab roll-outs, there is no way in hell that she would have a physique like that. Clearly, she eats well and takes care of herself. Either the burger was for the video or it's an occasional treat. Anyway, I don't know her, so I will not pretend that I do- id est, make assumptions based on more or less nothing. Moreover, you tell her to think for herself and not listen to authority, yet here you are preaching to her exactly what "they"-the system-want her to eat- a vegan diet... or "fruitarian" or whatever... Still, a diet of vegetation, most of which is unnatural and in many cases even toxic. We are omnivores leaning towards carnivore. We need animal products to survive. E.g. our brains are made of fat, saturated fat, the only type of fat (plant/seed oils do not count, by the way). So therefore, it needs fat for optimal function. And when a man wants to put on muscle, he must eat protein derived from animals. Speaking of animal-derived protein (and nutrients in general), I may add that vegetation has low nutrient (macro and micro) bio-availability, especially these days when all produce is, again, man-made/artificial/GM.

I respect your opinion. I have researched this for decades and have very specific ideas about nutrition. No, we are not natural meat eaters. We simply don't have the biology for that. Our teeth, intestines, whole metabolism is not made for meat. But, I do think that we are waterside creatures and that we should eat a lot of seaweed, alges. But that is my story. Whenever you think you know what you are talking about, you should actualy continue your research. I do the same. Research never ends. Government is not teaching us not to eat meat. They just offer a replacement for meat which is worse than meat. @@einarrgrettirsson8004
