You are 100% spot on with everything about this beta. I'm a huge Marvel fan but I'm not blind. The characters felt very different, and I did enjoy the story bits but the beta lacked mission structure and I did not care about the loot, it was disappointing that it didn't change your appearance. I am scared this game will be another Anthem or Fallout 76. I've been wanting Marvel games that aren't LEGO's for the longest time. Crystal Dynamics did great with Tomb Raider but I need them to get it together with Avengers.

If they started making this game at the time of the first movie in 2012, they could have had it released between _Ultron_ and _Infinity War_ (say, around 2016), and people would have really jumped on it in the hype buildup to _Infinity War._ But now? Pfff. Too little too late (and too generic). _Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor_ was able to put out a belated tie-in game because it actually had a _unique_ hook to its gameplay (with the nemesis system), while everything about this game just screams *cheap and lazy cash-in.*

Exactly. Thor hitting a regular dude with his hammer should send him flying away thousands of meters, not flinching it like it was nothing. If they wanted to make enemies that can withstand hits from freaking Thor and hulk you use anything other than humans (ice giants, skrulls, Utron copies, etc.) Hell even captain America punches lack impact, just compare any of this to the Batman Arkham series or PS4 spiderman. The gameplay looks so lifeless.

For quite some time it looks like gaming has become too mainstream for it's own good. Standards are lowered more and more as even a mediocre product will be a potential financial success if carried by a solid and loved IP. If uninspired games will keep making money (and they will) it's a slippery slope and no incentive is left to bring creativity and soul to these projects. It's infuriating to see a kickass hobby be ripped apart and destroyed by corporate greed... Gaming is swallowing it's own tail it seems... and it's really sad to witness 😖

In business terms, that's called a "minimum viable product." Or in other words, what's the crappiest game they can ship out and still make money on? Why invest more in the "quality" of the game if that "quality" won't translate into more earnings? Thus, the bar is driven as low as possible. But instead of innovating how to provide a better experience on a limited budget, which takes actual work, the EA's of the world with rather innovate in being parasitic fuckwits. Why make the game better when you can gaslight the consumer base into accepting a new low for "minimum viable product?" Keep repeating lies (games need the loot boxes!) and just keep overwhelming the customer with shitty practices (like Day1 DLC... remember when that was the controversy?) until these become normalized. And once last years controversy has become normalized, these parasitic fuckwits will just continue the cycle anew. How can we make a "minimum viable product" even more minimum? How can we get them to cheer us on as we lower the bar even further? How can we trick the customers into eating our shit and thanking us for it? So yeah, gaming got too successful. It was a niche industry mostly run by hobbyists for hobbyists. But when it got mainstream... the games were making too much money for corporate to ignore. So like flies to shit, the investors and corporate businessmen arrived with their bean counters and buzzwords. The goal was to extract as much wealth from as little effort as possible NOT make a good game. The games are now designed by a committee after extensive market research (RE: blindly chasing last season's trends) to appease investors and shareholders. Very few, if any, of the people involved have any actual interest in games themselves. They are just corporate MBA's looking to make a quick buck before bailing to the next company. Which is why I have long since given up on "AAA" games and have just been watching the indie sphere. Small developers self-publishing the games they want to play, without having to go through corporate hoops and add bullshit monetization in to appease investors. None of that horeshit.

@@duncanlutz3698 Very well argued. We can extend the same argument to movie license games. Sure, there are some good ones out there..mostly comic license games really. But when cashing in on a popular thing the publishers and devs are incentivized to cater to the lowest common denominator. There is no point in making something good when much more money can be made from a subpar product with mtx. The earlier Thor and Green Lantern games were made specifically out of this mentality, and although this one has better visuals and maybe combat...its still the same. There's a fanbase, and here's something to cash in on that. Frankly, the I'm still looking for something closer to the first Hulk and wolverine games. Pretty sure none of those are on the table anymore.

Just watching this points out a problem for me: overly long animations for heavy attacks. And yeah, the Avengers going for loot makes it obvious that it was shoved in as a way to keep players coming back, with no thought as to how it would fit. They _could have_ used a raw material gathering/crafting element instead, such as finding new alloys or tech that can then be used to enhance a character after Tony researches it. That would have fit better. The fact that this has been monetized like this makes this game a solid "No thanks" for me. I wasn't all that excited when it was announced, and I've become even less interested over time.

This^ i think the game was pretty good. It seem a bunch of people missed that part even though it said it multiple time. Stark is broke so no state of the art weapons. Also the fact that each character is not a copy and paste is a god send, and you can tell they took ALOT of time on them. Lack of enemy variety, doesn't live up to Arkham games, I was like what i cant tell you how many times i punched and kicked that same guy dressed in orange for the 100th slo-mo finish.

But then that makes no sense that Tony even still has the Ironman suit. The only reason that the government didn't take his suit and technology in the past is because Tony was rich and famous. If the Avengers were blamed for what happened on A-Day, then the government would also have found a reason to legally take the Ironman suit away from Tony when Stark Industries was liquidated and Tony went broke. So either way you look at it, this game is dumb.

roshawn1111 Well, if Tony took the suit and went into hiding in the game's story, then that's fine. It doesn't really make sense for Tony to go into hiding just because his company went bankrupt, but if he saw there was a conspiracy and went into hiding to buy time so he could figure out who was behind A-Day, and he took the suit with him, then that's a decent enough explanation as to why he would still have it. Otherwise, Tony going into hiding just because his company went bankrupt makes no sense. Tony is loud and always putting himself in the spotlight, so he wouldn't change that unless he had a very good reason. Also, the fact that he could even hide from the government for 5 years takes a bit of money, but it's Tony Stark, and his genius would allow him to make money to pay the expenses any number of ways, so that is a relative non-issue for me.

Compare this game to a game like jump force. It’s a cash grab game that puts fan favorite heroes (and more down the line) in a average like game. Because of how diverse the actual characters are, I think they had to make gameplay structure like. Playable but not ground breaking. The game is average but to me it’s still fun. Wasn't interested in this game at all when they first unveiled it during E3, and Black Widow flat-out looked as though she stepped out of Shrek after playing Lord Farquaad. Months later... Still looks so, so mediocre. So far as I can remember, they made a point of getting up on stage to announce the game would have no microtransactions... Seems as though given the game's current state, the only way this game's going to make money is by the name alone and the idiots who'll fork out money for the microtransactions this game's gonna present a slew of. Whole thing just looks like a buggy, blurry, button-bashing botched up mess of a game.

@@gregmartin2225 The problem with Avengers is that it's very bland overall. Levels are uninspired and enemies are samey. While the combat can be fun, it does lose it's charm after a while. And your point against assassins creed series are also true in some ways. I don't like the modern open world design either where they have alot of boring side-activites to do. I mean it does get boring to clear bandit camps the 500th time you do it. Same is true for Avengers with the levels and the beat em up gameplay though.

The fact that they made a a very obviously MCU movie-continuum Avengers game, and then gave us these sort of “Dollar General Brand” stand-ins is absolutely detachment number one for me. It’s hard to believe or connect with these characters when they’re basically strangers to me, after the years of developing connections to the actors. This needed to be Hemsworth, RDJ, Evans, Johanssen, etc. As soon as I saw that it wasn’t going to be them, I was like “...oh. I guess. Weird.” That says something. Yeah yeah, money, couldn’t afford them, I get it. But don’t make a Terminator game without Arnold, or someone that sounds exactly like him at least.

Kat Rose I mean people say that, but It kind of is though anyway. They use the movie Avengers logo, the SHIELD helicarriers, Thor says “I am mighty”, the outfits are VERY MCU movie based including the Hulkbuster armor, lots of the fighting elements are MCU movie based too, like the dynamics of Cap’s shield, Mjolnir, and tons of Iron Man’s stuff is lifted right out of the movie. It could be argued that the movies are all based on comic book elements, but they are very much lifted out of the movies visually and put in this game, but without the actors. It’s a weird hybrid. If so many elements had been less like the movies, it wouldn’t be so confusing and jarring without the actors that made these characters popular all over again.

They have the heroes abilities, styles and animations down. Attacks just feel like they lack impact sometimes and the combat is way too generic. Biggest problem is there is a lack of any meaningful story with boring missions. Also, not really sure why they made this a loot style game, it doesn't make any sense. I love finding a new "Hulk Spine" in a crate I can equip. Huh??

Live service updates keeps those games interesting since there is only 1-2 modes to play. But devs that turn normal games into live service ones need to fucking stop.
