I Played Metal Gear Rising for the FIRST Time Ever...

advice: parry can be used on literally ANYTHING including the first boss fight. (there are certain attacks in specific boss fights that can't be parry'd, but that is later in the game.) blade mode isnt always the best option for everything. learning combos between heavy and light attacks will help a lot.

When an enemy is swinging at you, hit attack and the direction of the enemy to parry, if done right before getting hit, you'll perfect parry which lets you counter for pretty much an insta kill. watch the color of the light that shines on the enemy red means you can parry, yellow is unparryable or a grab. You can block some yellow attacks. Fun fact, the tutorial boss is actually a metal gear, which is a final boss of mgs2.
