S4 sure was quite the upgrade compared to what the game was before, but as Asmon said, the real issue is the lack of proper endgame. Yes, helltides are better, nightmare dungeons have been improved since release aswell and now there are the pits (greater rifts). But it's all still kinda the same as it was on release. S2 blood harvest were just another version of helltides and nightmare vaults from S3 were a different version of nightmare dungeons. They really need to add stuff that also sticks around and isn't deleted after every season. Imagine PoE would have removed every league mechanic after the end of their leagues. The game would be noone near as good and contentrich as it is today.

So essentially like D3 then where the end game was pretty much just going as high as you can on Greater Rifts, running bounties, doing regular rifts for mats. Outside of doing that or awhile, you pretty much had nothing to do in D3. A lot of people just played for a few weeks when each season was released to try out builds and such and then quit to play other games.

@@Lebronat40 Yes it is the best, but that doesn't amount to much considering the state it was before. It also doesn't matter really if every season it's helltides and nightmare dungeons again and again. They need to add seasonal mechanics into the existing endgame systems, not always make one new standalone seasonal acivity that vanishes at the end of the seasons. If they keep this up the game will never have a proper endgame with variety.

I played season 1 topped out a druid. season 2 I maxed out 3 champions two wizards one for pushing AOZ went to tier 18 and another for straight dps boss killing, and a hota one shot all content barbarian. I skipped season 3 and went on strike for these changes. I gave it a chance after seeing the changes. This season I have played 10 hrs and am lvl 90 with my necro, I am having a absolute blast this season compared to all the others because of the fact that I don't have to play 50 hrs to min max a champ to 100.

I have to agree about LE. On the surface empowered monos aren't too bad, but my God you spend so long just staring at loading screens, backtracking across the map, or trying to manage all the purple stat items you're just going to brick anyway even after spending hours making the 'perfect' loot filter (which is sorely needed for the amount of loot that drops in LE). Before you get to that point, LE seems like it WILL be great, like you're leveling and can easily try different variants of a build, like with warpath (the whirlwind skill in LE) you can make it shoot out twisters like d3/d4 ww, or get a bigger area the longer you channel it, or make it void damage so you can use it with a proper void knight echo build, etc, but once you're level 90+ and realize that it's got all these rough edges, lots of the gameplay is extremely clunky compared to poe, D3 and yes even D4, and you do a few empowered monos and see what you're in for for the 'rest of the endgame' (which sure they roadmap a ton of better endgame content coming later, but that's later not on 1.0 release) and worst of all you realize how long the grind actually is to get items with full bis stats or even just mostly bis with a good purple stat, only to brick it before it gets improved properly, and that was for one single slot... damn, you'll want to go back to poe or diablo 3 or 4, whichever was your jam before. At every level of gameplay and effort, LE will eventually wear on you LOL, so while I could see how Raxx or Rob or Wudijo could enjoy putting thousands of hours into LE, at the same time it's obvious why they came right back to the D4 PTR and are now playing S4 live instead of staying with LE.

I'm happy some people are starting to find D4 to be in an acceptable spot. It's not for me. I just feel like I'm trying to get to the end game, that never shows up. At least in PoE, I know when that is. In diablo, it feels like I'm there at level 1 or that it just doesn't have any. Maybe in a year or two.

Personally i loved this season. The awful feeling i had during the first season is gone, i remember feeling awful completing the season pass only cause i pay for it, now im working on another character cause i feel like it. The game could use some improve in some areas sure, hating the gold to be honest, loved the fact of getting good gold in D3 just spamming GR. Also this game in this state can only improve, i won't put my money into the idea the won't fuck it up, but i have high hopes considering the release. Also, next month i can play again Last Epoch, and probably when i get bored of that one i can go back to poe, and have a healthy rotation between those 3 games. I'm having fun!

I will not turn this game back on until at least season 7, the amount of work they put in front of themselves requires at least that much amount of time to work it into a playable and fun gameplay loop. @@marting.9613 Nah not really...in POE i always recommend guide to new players but not to follow it brainlessly but to try to learn what they click and why. It is hard and fun regardless if you follow the guide or not if everything is new to you. Once you understand what you are following you can use that knowledge to either change things up to your liking and add your own touch to the build or attempt to make totally new one from the scratch. You have your opinion, others have theirs. Moral of the story is let people have fun and play however they like to play :)

I think Asmongold is wrong about MMOs. The problem with AAA MMOs isn't the cost to make or the employee salaries etc. The problem is almost all of them are published by public companies. Microtransactions aren't the the employees or the upkeep of the game, it's for the investors. Look at Blizzard, everything went to shit when they merged and became beholden to Activision shareholders. Not because WoW became more expensive to develop, it was because Activision.

I respect his opinion most times but he is an MMO brain and he will never fully understand what makes an ARPG brain tick. I myself have about 18 years in WoW but at heart I know I'm an ARPG brain. Diablo 2 in 2003-2006ish was my high school years and I feel like if you didn't get hooked on D2 back then you probably won't ever understand why Diablo 3 and 4 are a god damned abomination to most of us. I feel like he specifically doesn't get that. D3 and D4 might as well be named "Derrick 3 and Derrick 4" because to most core fans they are WAY too different and not Diablo games. One thing about Diablo 2 for me that seemed to keep it booming was that the game was so engaging that people wanted to make more characters. To me "alt" is a dirty word, I'd slap someone for calling my other characters in D2 alts because they're all "mains". Nobody really thought in terms of alts and mains and most of us wanted to just keep making characters and perfecting them. It created it's own loop that wasn't a DESIGNED loop by intent but the playerbase enjoyed the meat of D2 enough to do that. End game was perf gearing characters. If you quit for 3 years and your accounts expired, then it was fun to see how fast you could rebuild your wealth. I've never felt a pull to come back to D3 or D4. It's always one or two friends that pull two of our other friends then me and my wife end up back in it. A lot of gamers are ignorant to how the developers and minds behind their favorite games are a core part of that games "soul" and if you don't have "this guy and that guy" working on it that shows. Diablo 3 will always stink of Jay Wilson's attitude towards the fans to me, even with Josh Mosquera coming in and saving it. Diablo 4 will always stink of being RAN THROUGH by like 5 different teams over a course of 8 years because it was and each team wanted to make a different game. The final product is like a Frankenstein of dead game body parts and it just fucking SUCKS. Maybe they polish into an actual game but at the moment it's a glorified tech demo, that's what I felt the first time I played it. This is not a game David Brevik or his team and co-workers at Blizzard North would have shat out. Hell in a lot of ways it's not even really a game. Grinding simulators have become a plague because of MMOs...as much as I love my time with MMOs they POISONED the rest of the game market with certain design philosophies and mechanics. All games have to be based around engagement and monetization because the machine that is corporate must grind profit. It's become robotic and soulless and the irony is the MFers at the top. Your Phil Spencers, Bobby Koticks, Mike Ybarras they either DON'T KNOW that's what actually made games profitable before this most recent decade...or they don't give a shit... Sorry for the rambling but David Brevik's wife streams a lot of games or used to and he'd often sit in the back sipping his vodka martinis or whatever and kind of rant about Blizzard and how Blizzard North was basically, not his words, but screwed over and most of the people that made Blizzard Blizzard aren't there anymore and to your point Activision is responible for that. It's like a shitty cancer that just ATE any actualy integrity and passion for good design away. What sustained it after around Wrath of the Lich King's time I think was nostalgia and new developers joining their team that thought it was their dream job but they were late to the party and life and passion was already gone. Then the products and attitude in the company is that slow realization and rot from within. Then we get MFers stealing titty milk and the rest is history. They can't just dig themselves out of a hole here. They have to REBUILD the entire creative desire of Blizzard cos right now, most of the MFers that go through there realize within a month that it's "Just another job." The products won't be good until the people working on them feel a little something more than that...

never played diablo series until about 6 months ago. started with d2r and held off on 4 bc people were screaming d4 bad. then the update happened. honestly, as a casual gamer, d4's campaign was amazing and everything was soooo smooth and enjoyable. d2r has its charm but it's super clunky and archaic in so many ways. not to say d4 is perfect, but i don't see myself going back to d2r any time soon tbh.

bloodmist not getting the reduction is because your ring auto exploding corpses before bloodmist can. the ring is bugged which is why it affects interactions it shouldnt.

Can't change the unique gear no...but having a couple stats on 1 piece that don't make sense pales in comparison to some of the unique abilities power. It's typically worth it to wear them, even if they have a stat roll you don't benefit from, if the ability compliments your build.

Last Epoch definitely does not allow experimentation. I tried to go with non-meta builds, but even if I strayed from the True Paths just a little bit I got wrecked. It is not as bad as playing POE with non meta builds, but it is still very bad.

Sorcerer is definitely worth playing, it just struggles at killing bosses. I fought Lord Zir when I hit 80 with the frozen orb build (he's lvl 80 as well) and it took like 3-4 minutes to kill him, but I can one shot lvl 100 elite mobs.

See, this is the problem my guy. Challenge yourself. Make odd builds that shouldn't work but could. Everybody just follows these build templates. I made a super weird no minion necro build that, albeit was lvl 40, was surviving with no problems and almost solo-ing the Helltide boss before people jumped in. If it got worked on, it would be an absolute tank.

Diablo isn’t perfect, but it’s great for someone who wants a straight up ARPG experience. I went to try PoE as a beginner and both beginner videos I watched said: 1. Follow a build guide 2. Download POB 3. Download Loot filter. That is a ridiculous entry fee. You can pick up Diablo and have a decent time and learn how to play effectively with the base game and thats it. It’s more simple but some of us actually like that lol.

It IS blowing up corpses.. your coprse explosion is set to do a darkness pool to buff your skeletons.. it's the build. If you want it to make explosions all you have to do is change the type of corpse explosion you have. Stop blaming the game when you're the one making the error...

i cant run 50 feet on my horse without it teleporting me back and knocking me off my horse. i cant run through or teleport near big packs cause the game lags so bad it stands me still and gets me killed. i still get 1 shot from things off screen with no warning. im lvl 60 on my sorc alt in gear thats like lvl 25 because NOTHING DROPS with the stats that i need or even decent stats i could just live with. im farming nm dungs. blood maid. and helltides on T3 and T4. when it does let me run on my horse the entire game lags to the point it freezes because the game cant keep up with the horse i guess. (no its not my computer, my computer is perfectly fine and able to run anything i put on it all at the same time and not lag) still a very clunky, not well put together game. i basically play it when i have 5 or 10 minutes left to kill because thats all the play time im able to get before it freezes or just doesnt let me play in some other stupid ass way.

Do not play d4 until they make it fun. Finding gg item is the only reason why you should play, not farming for gold.

Bought D4 when it came out. Played it for 20 hours ish. It was just killing the same mobs in the same dungeon with the same skills over and over again, with little variance. I picked it up now with S4 to test, played 5 hours. Its still exactly the same, with slightly less running around. No endgame, no skill variance, and very few enemies. Its still a bad game, and its still not fun. They need to have a lot more skills, and a LOT more ways of changing them, and then they need more enemies that are different, alongside an actual endgame.

I'm having a blast. The gear feels so much more customizable and the new helltide is super fun. Hopefully more of this goes into other aspects of the game. Better cellers, legion events, world bosses etc.

They definitely did a much better job, and you can now build out a character properly. The legendary aspects being upgraded in the codex is the big difference I think, no more having to give up perfect rolls.

Still think the biggest "issue" with Diablo 4 is, it doesn't have any persistent story to play. It's seasonal so really, if you don't play the game X amount of time every three months you miss out on stuff. And all the battlepass stuff is just cosmetic. Unlike games like WoW where you can STILL go back and play content that was made ten years ago. Diablo incentivizes people that haven't played from the start, to NOT play. Cause you'll have missed out on the content and you'll either need to watch someone else do it or read about it. Which both are equally as boring.

Yeah, all mechanics are rather working well now. The leveling is fun, but there is zero challenge/walls to beat on the way to 100 which is boring. They should probably use the strongholds as "walls", making them more challenging. And until you beat X amount of them, the max world level won't go up past a certain point within a world tier. I think there are 12, so you can require 4 cleared at lvl 20, 60 and 80. Also make the two capstone dungeons much harder. These are a complete joke. You should never be able to enter WT3 before lvl 40 and WT4 before 65.
