I'm very excited to share this video with all of you as there were some incredibly close games with TONS of combat math to consider. This was good old fashioned Magic and I had a blast playing out these games.

15:00 The packs in this set can be so heavily weighted for one color or another. There were several packs in the draft that had 4 good-to-great white cards which gave you and likely the two players to your left the indication that white was open, which was probably why you didn't see much white coming back in pack 2. I've gotten crossed up so many times by false signals in this set, and I think it's because the packs are poorly assembled
@Cthuski
@Cthuski Ай бұрын
Noticed this too. Some of these packs look like set boosters based on how heavily one color will show up over the others

Paul I just hit my first 7 wins on a premium draft! 7-1 with BlackGreen, Your videos deserve so much credit in helping me improve my daft game! I know the shuffler and matchups are a large part of it as well. But your discussions on what to pick and why, running commentary on board/opponent interactions. It's helped, I find myself talking to myself when drafting and playing! Cheers sir, awesome content!

I love that you're back Paul! I used to really enjoy watching your old Vintage cube drafts (particularly the stipulation drafts you did with your wife). Will you be returning to some of that content again soon? Or is it Arena only now.

In the game where you thought your opponent had sure strike with the whelp attacks, I bet that they instead had fleeting distraction (they showed this at the end of the game when digging for answers). Fleeting distraction allows opponent to think it's safe to attack the whelp into the spinner to enable raid.
@whitepanda34
@whitepanda34 Ай бұрын
Also iirc they played the cerberus one turn without attacking which made me think they didnt had the strike at this point

47:36 Think what they had in their hand was just Fleeting distraction which makes Paul's Deathtouch spider 0 power so can't kill their flyer.

1:13:11 I think using veil on the prowler was the better play here, not counting the hindsight of slagstorm, I think guaranteeing a draw from the librarian and having a 7-6 prowler in play is much harder for the opponent to deal with, Gruul in particular has a great deal of trouble removing big creatures and ward makes it so it's out of reach for double removal spells here

1:15:36 When your opponent was tapped out with 6/5 prowler, why not block and pump your spider to 4/7 deathtouch instead of playing mischievous pup to bounce llanowar elves? Great video, just trying to understand the thought process as a newer player

Hey haumpf :) @1:01:20 Against the WR deck Feels to me it was better to attack with felidar the turn u activated librarian, and overrun the turn after u played the parent cat to be in a winning position and not giving them the "claws out" out / be in a winning position ? Thoughts ?

I had a G/W deck 7-1. In one game, I went Llanowar elves, into turn 2 ranger turn 3 elite, token plus Bettle. You can see why I went 7-1.

36:50 can you snakeskin veil an opponents card so they can't target with fake your own death, it gets +1/+1 but should die to the prowler and the prowler would still live

I think it looked like Blue White was closed off in pack two just because a few packs in a row were weak. I feel like that happens to me a lot.
@emanuelevitale5325
@emanuelevitale5325 Ай бұрын
He actually had open lane since pack one. He just did not notice that blue was absent from the first 8 picks. Indicating that probably was not an issue of blu being closed, rather blue being thin in first pack

This one was a good example of being nimble in the draft. Edit: I don't really see how you could have figured out that blue would be open in pack 3.

Blue was open during pack 2 at end of pack. Also the blue cards at end of pack 1 were compatible with azorius gameplan e good fillers at that. He just did not accept to read the signals until it was too late
