If you see this Reid, thanks so much for still making videos. It looks like you’re the only one keeping this channel alive, but if you ever quit CFB and still have a passion for making videos, please make your own channel

Yeah, but how are we supposed to trust someone who works for Weyland-Yutani?

Wow! Great video!! This is the first video I have seen that actually makes me want to try playing a Foundations draft. The fact that it's a much faster format than pro players anticipated makes it great set to draft! Thanks for going back and correcting your review. It's this kind of content that builds my trust.

What part of your process have you revisited knowing the misses the team made in evaluating these cards? You mention why you were wrong, but I'd be curious how that may color your future evaluations!

Great content. Your analysis of evaluation is extremely valuable for middling players such as myself. If ever I have the time to play magic seriously, i will consider your videos to be must study resource.

The only opponent I lost to in prerelease was the one who mulled to get leyline axe in open and slapped it on his giada. Was not even close

Refute is an interesting one because "Cancel that loots" should absolutely not be that good in most limited formats nowadays, but since FDN is such a bomb-ruled format, it's great. Because it counters their bomb, and digs for your bomb. I don't think CFB misjudged the power level of the card in a vacuum at all.

Foundations turned out to be one of those sets where you want to be aggro or you're just losing. I got to try the ramp into Gen Wave and Overrun deck and it just got, well, overrun long before it got to do any of the cool top-end things. Conversely, my most successful draft decks were the mostly-creature, on-the-board quick aggro decks, usually white with healer's hawk. Based on that, I think the biggest miss in the set review wasn't the cards' reviews themselves so much as the read of the whole limited format. There were assumptions that there were green-based ramp or multi-colored pile archetypes, as well as Izzet as a whole, that just didn't exist. Blue was iffy. It was either fast enough early to survive to counter those bombs, or it just spun its wheels and died. Without Wizards trying to tell us what should work and assuming around that, I think the assessments of the cards might have been closer to accurate.

In my heart, I wanted to believe you're getting a two for one by sacrificing a card to pull two lands. In my head, I'm seeing myself get overran as I'm spending mana and turns to do it with.

You can't trust stats like these, even if they are perfectly accurate, there are so many ways for the interpretation to go wrong. Perhaps card X is good, but performed badly, because you said it was bad, and good players read your analysis, and bad players don't. Which makes it a fine card, but only played by bad players, which creates bad stats. A 15 mana spell that says "you win the game" would have a 100% "winrate when played" but would be abysmal. Win-more cards are also very susceptible to stats without context. Cards with a high floor could seem better than cards with low floor and high ceiling. Some cards could be busted only in specific colors, but stats include every pair. There's survivorship bias, and many other things we must take into account before making conclusions.

Reid is not more influential than 17lands, the thing that even he is using to evaluate card value what would be nice is card winrate at diamond/mythic stats (if that doesn't already exist)

Poor martin. I do think he was right about terror, its still great if izzet (ie you're seeing a lot of late burst lightnings) is open and time stop is a decent playable on the wheel since the effect is unique and hard to play around. Niv mizzet was just too expensive and hard to trigger.

Clue, house of horrors, and ravnica remastered are ruining the game for me. The only difference in these sets is converse shoes, detective hats, and old unplayable cards..... All feels super uninspired. Also, too many humans in these sets. Humans are THE lamest thing MTG has to offer
