This literally. I’m a long time backer but I think I have around 10 hours in-game spread over a large handful of years. It’s a game I wanted so I backed in my eyes I’ve done my contribution for the future of this game. But right now it’s not a game I want to play and I refuse to burn myself out struggling constantly.

Cause after 10 years the game still sucks and has the bare minimal content. Npcs don't shoot back, the events are not dynamic and its a ship buying simulator

Let's pretend that everything runs flawlessly. Which to be fair this patch i have had a few crash free sessions. But even if it all runs well, doesn't crash, what the heck is there to do? Kill server frozen AI? In space or on ground? Be a literal box delivery person? Use magic laser beam to mine/salvage? The gameplay loops are mid at best. After 10 plus years I'd forgive them if the underlying game was well, an enjoyable game just with some bugs and crashes. Here comes someone with the classic "it's a space sim not a game" or some nonsense.

@@snoop_lion most of the intended gameplay loops aren’t in yet. Like the actual crafting of things, mining, cargo hauling, and trading are all suppose to power the games economy. You need missiles? Someone needs to make those. Kinda like Eve online except you don’t have some disconnected levelling system. There are a whole slew of games that have taken over 10 years to make. The majority of them didn’t have to go through 3 different engine conversions.

@korniestpatch again, they have had 10 plus years to expand on any of the gameplay and they have not. They have retconned the reclaimers' actual salvage claw for just another magic beam that does whatever they want it to. They just take the lazy way out and seem to put things off because "its an alpha" or "we need server meshing" or the latest one "we are waiting for squadron 42 to add that to the PU."

I think the sniper glint should only be a feature it there was something like modern space binoculars which do not show a glint. I like to scout and wait for the opportune moment to strike my target, but if I have to chose between showing my position and actually seeing something that would not be fun. I understand that snipers shouldn’t just be able to sit around with their weapon and be impossible to spot, but if you sacrifice inventory space to take scouting equipment that won‘t get spotted easily (just like real snipers have binoculars to scout before using the weapon) that would balance it. It could still have some kind of glint, but wayy less than the weapon would. I think that because you have to carry an extra item and that you have to switch from scouting to shooting (put the binoculars away and take put the gun with way more glint) would balance it. Because as soon as you are ready to fire the enemy will see the glint and be warned. I just don’t want the enemy to know my location before I know theirs. (The enemy could just see my glint while i am not trying to shoot, but to scout and gather information, which would give away my location before I I know theirs, which would mean snipers won’t be patient and smart about the shot but rather start firing as soon as they can to minimize chances of being spotted (some people may still play like this but people who want to be sure about what they do like me can take it slow and gather information first.)

it took them 6 years to figure out server meshing and around 9 to make Squadron 42 (considering the massive scope change after the unexpected kickstarter success which led to them starting from scratch). Now that Squadron is mostly finished work seems to indeed speed up

"Flossing your teeth with a brick" is a perfect description, obviously you want to floss your teeth, however not a with a brick. Star Citizen is very attractive but it can be tiring to play due to it's previous UI, mechanics and poor quality of life. Now it feels like a game, if they can get those servers up to quality, the enjoyment should increase by dozens of times.

Compare Star Citizen to Spacebourne 2. Star citizen has teams numbering in the thousands and hundreds of millions of dollars sunk into it. Spacebourne 2 was made by one dev and little to no money sunk into it. I couldn't play Star Citizen for more than 2 hours before asking for a refund. I can't stop playing Spacebourne 2. For the amount of time, hours and money spent on SC, the game is disproportionately bad. I'm not saying it's a bad game overall, but it's bad for what it SHOULD be given the time, money and man hours spent in development.

Ideally offline and highly customizable. Basically Skyrim in Space. And no, I don't mean that woke mess called Starfield.
