@@PDubsArcadeLoft To think this very same Home Edition was retailed at $3.999 just a few years ago makes this a crazy investment. Even when considering the improvements made to this over the first gen home table. For this price I'd buy a used Pro or a shopped classic.

Agreed - I find a lot of the hate for the home pins are from people who have never even played them. If they have, and still don’t like it, that’s fine as pinball is so subjective person to person but anyone who has come over to play them never has not liked them a lot or said they aren’t a “real” pinball machine, whatever that is. In my 9 pin collection both the JP and Star Wars Home Pins are ranked high on my list!

@@skywalkr2 It depends on the title. The more popular the game the more it will hold its value. That aside its definitely a buyers market. And yes there are sub 3000 dollar pins out there. But 9/10 it will be a relatively unknown or unpopular EM, SS, or early DMD. If you can stretch your budget another 1000 or 2 that will get into the more marquee titles from the 80s and 90s and your modern Sterns and Spookys. That's part of the hobby. Everything is available to buy if it breaks (at least for the big name manufacturers like Stern) and fairly standardized through the years. You have to treat it like a bike, needs servicing and wear/tear will damage things but it is built to be repairable (at least the non home machines are and Stern seems to have done a good job of not cheating out on mechanisms on this home machine). The feeling of a virtual pinball is nothing like a real table.
@johndoe-yw7eb
@johndoe-yw7eb 2 ай бұрын
@@doodleoogames8235 You're right it IS part of the hobby... way too much of the hobby. Buying pinball machines isn't for people who like playing pinball, it's for people who like working on pinball machines, which isn't most people. And sure, virtual tables obviously aren't the same as real tables, but saying they're "nothing" like a real table is either ignorance or snobbery. There are plenty of videos on KZbin where people are doing side-by-sides, and these owners of the real tables are generally pretty complimentary towards the virtual versions.

It's 2:00am my time let people sleep... JK I'm thinking there gonna do more Costco editions price should come down on these. 3,500 - 3,700 range would be a sweet spot. Agreed to close to that pro price. But the JP home pins are gone to Lowkey sell during the holidays

I do not see any similarity to the zizzle POTC. You can change one thing on a pinball game and it changes the whole gameplay. Any hoot, I like the rest of the review, but it's a swing and a miss on the comparison.

Good review, but the Zizzle comparison was a bit of a stretch. It's a ramp and primary toy configuration that has been used in many many many games over the years. Check out Metallica for one, but if you dared to compare Metallica to a Zizzle you'd have the wrath the PinGods coming for you.

Just pony up the extra $2K and buy an actual Stern Pro version instead of a toyish cut down Home version. Better yet buy a low play used JP Pro for $5.5K or less in the current market... Even better yet buy a fully featured Premium like me with all of missing features like T-Rex ball catching mech.

Buy the game you want on the secondary market from someone selling a Pro or Premium. The longevity of gameplay will be better. Others have said the same on here. This game will be 2k in a year or two from someone who paid 4800 now and got tired of it or whose kids stopped playing it. It's not a good value or investment to buy this new in my opinion.

Great video and report. Agree on your assessment of yhe value. 3K is the sweet spot, for someone that does not hace a lot of space and would like multiple machines. The real, true, purpose of the hobby of authentic pinball machine for a HO is to care for it, in a way that it increases in value overtime. These type of home editions value will only go down. Therefore is a no-no for me. I rather spent the $10K + on a premium or collector edition, bacause I know that eventually, I can get that whole pile of cash back and most of time more.
