@doodleoogames82352 ай бұрын
That's part of the hobby. Everything is available to buy if it breaks (at least for the big name manufacturers like Stern) and fairly standardized through the years. You have to treat it like a bike, needs servicing and wear/tear will damage things but it is built to be repairable (at least the non home machines are and Stern seems to have done a good job of not cheating out on mechanisms on this home machine). The feeling of a virtual pinball is nothing like a real table.
@johndoe-yw7eb2 ай бұрын
@@doodleoogames8235 You're right it IS part of the hobby... way too much of the hobby. Buying pinball machines isn't for people who like playing pinball, it's for people who like working on pinball machines, which isn't most people. And sure, virtual tables obviously aren't the same as real tables, but saying they're "nothing" like a real table is either ignorance or snobbery. There are plenty of videos on KZbin where people are doing side-by-sides, and these owners of the real tables are generally pretty complimentary towards the virtual versions.

Just pony up the extra $2K and buy an actual Stern Pro version instead of a toyish cut down Home version. Better yet buy a low play used JP Pro for $5.5K or less in the current market... Even better yet buy a fully featured Premium like me with all of missing features like T-Rex ball catching mech.

I can't justify spending $5k+ on a single pinball when digital exists

Smart man. I'm new to pinball as well. After some research, $5K is a bit much for the poor man's version. If they offer this hobo version, then I'd like to see hobo prices. Under $3K for sure. Even then, it's so stripped that it looks soo basic and simple. Yea, minimu Pro Edition or none for me.

Buy the game you want on the secondary market from someone selling a Pro or Premium. The longevity of gameplay will be better. Others have said the same on here. This game will be 2k in a year or two from someone who paid 4800 now and got tired of it or whose kids stopped playing it. It's not a good value or investment to buy this new in my opinion.

that game will never be lower than 3.5/4k

I'd say a step up from a zizzle, way overpriced. My 30+ old pinballs like my black knight limited edition plays way better. Could be the pitch that they have it at but it felt cheap and slow.

Oh yeah way better than the Zizzle which is just a plastic toy

Great video and report. Agree on your assessment of yhe value. 3K is the sweet spot, for someone that does not hace a lot of space and would like multiple machines. The real, true, purpose of the hobby of authentic pinball machine for a HO is to care for it, in a way that it increases in value overtime. These type of home editions value will only go down. Therefore is a no-no for me. I rather spent the $10K + on a premium or collector edition, bacause I know that eventually, I can get that whole pile of cash back and most of time more.

The main concern I have about pinball machines is the ability to fix something that goes wrong with it.
