I see this guy all the time at my local norcal tournaments. He's always beating people and in the final. Nice match!

Your best match yet that I have seen. You can grind. Your forehand was much improved with a better unit turn and your off arm tracking the ball. Someone else mentioned this, but your opponent did not take advantage of your very weak second serve. It is probably that he is a grinder also. But, you need to work on more spin and placement on your second serve and your volleys. You are running to net instead of going to volley position and taking an earlier split step.

Great match. Dion, what's your sports background prior to beginning tennis? I find it amazing that you've self taught yourself to play at such a high level. I noticed that your opponents tend to have better strokes but your movement and athleticism is leagues ahead of them.

I would say you ran maybe twice the distance of your opponent or more. Unless you want to keep running around the court you better develop some weapons. If you watch you can see that he rarely leaves the middle of the court. Your knees will start to give in if you keep it up. Look for more opportunities to put your opponent on defense if you want to advance.

Do you have shoulder issues by any chance? Very abbreviated take back and racket drop on serve is really shallow. Just curious

Good tennis "but" the claim that this person played the best 5.0 in the country is probably based on those folks who are passionate about getting "ranked" in USTA matches and does not include most current/former including D1/D2 college team members, higher ranking 16-18 year-olds or folks who used to play satellite tournaments. Kudos for the win but I think it would be fun to see either of these guys compete against the above. But they are good and deserve a 5.0 rating. :)

SwingVision scoring is just junk. Dion, you have to understand. The way you play, it’s no fun to play against because you just make balls. If you play anyone who has proper technique and consistency. You will lose every single time because your game doesn’t put pressure on anyone. Especially good returners, your service will result in return winner consistently. Play Winston Du, he’s in LA. Probably would be a good match.

I watched 2 minutes of it. Dark shorts is a 3.5 maybe 4.0. He has a beginners push BH. And a simple serve. White shorts is a little better, but their game strategy are nearly the same. Neither player knew the net well and stayed on the baseline. Both players use the default 2HBH which is a liability and can never be an asset. The one positive is they both kept up rallies well from the baseline. A few volleys at the net were good as well. The problem with rec tennis is if you claim you are. 4.5, 5.0 etc. that’s fine but who did you play to get there is the issue. You could have been playing 3.5’s 4.0’ all along and your record improves and it rises but your opponents in the past could have been at a lower level and they have a history of playing lower levels. Etc. so the rating methodology can never be accurate. The pros ratings are accurate and can be proven but not the amateurs

Yeah I was gonna comment something similar. Really getting sick of 3.5s/4.0s who can, at best, scramble to get most balls over the net calling themselves "5.0"s on youtube. Not that I can do anything about it but it's always annoying to open a video expecting to see good 5.0 tennis and then you just get the equivalent of what would be 4.5 anywhere else. And the UTR thing too. I know UTR is generally reliable but the amount of videos that I've seen of guys that claim they are UTR 8.5/9.0+ and meanwhile you see their game and they can't hit a backhand! It's like dude, there has to have been rank inflation somewhere along the line. I'm like an 8 now due to not having much competitive history on UTR but I'm not seeing the strokes, strategy, and pace that match the level that these guys supposedly play at.
@ryantraniam2 күн бұрын
so many haters in the comments. They're both rated 4.5 and 5.0 USTA, respectively and play many tournaments. They're also both a legitimate 8.5 and 9.7 UTR respectively. Nobody is claiming anything they're not.

@@ryantraniam ??? Hate?? I don't think so, all tennis player love one another, they are just competitive and let's face it, tennis is full of nutty people. But no, they are not TRUE, at that level, natural coordinated strokes are required. Level's are different in 15 different locations in the country. There is no way to determine how someone obtained a level as all their opponents would need to be analyzed and compared against others, it becomes too vast to make a accurate prediction, it is what it is, but video's are most accurate in determining. One clue is does the player have a natural backhand and a smooth coordinate serve. The one player is no more than a 3.5, the other a 4.0. You need to look at skill sets on a global scale, not just county by county, of based on a particular state or try state area. No one is hating anyone !!!!!

@@raderT90 Good points. Tennis player rely too much on ratings, there are too many factors and no one knows the opponents they played and what section they are from etc.etc. it's a complex math puzzle. Remember, tennis is a crafty game, full of smart players, it's why so many professionals play tennis. Tennis uses brains to assist them in winning. It's a crafty game loaded with cagy smart people. In tennis one can be out of shape, never played a sport and use a giant racket and some fancy string, but they can push the ball over at 45 mph, and drive the opponent crazy and wait it out until the opponent hits long or the net and ends of losing. And then you will see a player hit 120 MPH serves and lose matches as they are deficient in everything else it takes.
