From a lad that does super well in phantoms here's my 2 cents: sit on the deck, fly to the left most bomb point, if you see a dude far to the right, don't go for him, swing around the line of enemy bomb points, what that does is all other aircraft will see you and make a line right for you because you're gonna be one of the first ones out there because of the phantom's relatively good 0 to Mach 1 acceleration, meanwhile you're ignoring them (sorta). Here you have 2 options, option A, as soon as you pass the enemy bomb points head right for the planes zooming right for you, take them out with your 7fs. The other option (in the case that it's literally the ENTIRE enemy team coming for you) wait for your team to catch up a little bit, then fly 5 meters or so from tree-tops or ground. Shoot your 7fs, get somewhere between 2-5 kills each game. Sometimes you'll die if your team folds, but in any jet once your team is gone you're gone. (Usually) Edit: if you do this strategy take a gun, often people will defeat your Sarh by slamming it into the ground. So it's good to be able to have something else in the headon.

I know it sounds crazy to wait for a year but if I bought every premium that seems nice I'd be broke, not to mention I already have 4 different tech trees to grind, so it's not like I'll get bored in the meantime. I used to buy premiums more often and honestly most of them weren't worth it after a while. Br changes and power creep are a bitch. Also keep in mind I see premiums as "fun" vehicles more than grind vehicles. If it's for grinding then yeah go for the F-4S right now and you'll finish grinding much earlier than a year, but it's probably not going to be very fun at that BR and I hate grinding.

F4s gets radar sights on the gun pod. Its well worth taking. I play the F4J a lot. Even over the F-14 and F-16. I also have the bugged 10 missile loadout on the J which helps with that decision. In my mind nothing tops the F4J with the bugged 6 Aim7F + 4 Aim9 loadout + the gun pod. Its hard not to get 2+ kills a game with all that. The F4s however is worth taking over the J even with the bugged loadout. The extra maneuverability is insane. I dont know where you guys get the notion that F4's cant dogfight....they can and do. Just not in a direct 1 circle turn fight like you want to do. If you use speed to pull vertical you can hang with anyone. The extra turning on the F-4s still catches a lot of migs off guard in the 1 circle fight, that + the addition of the radar gun sight makes dogfighting at high speeds easy as pie. The F-4s is probably the best jet in the US tree at the moment. Its 11.3. The down tiers are an absolute seal club fest. The up tiers you can hold your own. You dont have all aspect IR missiles, but the Aim7f + good radar make up for that. Its a 10k flat repair cost. It has the highest premium research bonus for grinding, while its silver bonus is great too. The F-16/F-14 are great, dont get me wrong. The F-14 is the best jet the US has by a large margin, but when you take into account, tiering, repair costs, fun ratio....the F-4s is the jet to get. I used to say this award went to the F-5C and honestly it might be tied with the F-4s in that regard, but its a lot more unforgiving with its low ammo and Aim9E loadout. A blast to fly though. If you want to spend 70 bucks or have some gaj bucks to spare its worth getting.

The extra aoa is quite massive, it can pull 11-12g whereas of phantoms can only pull 10, also the extra manoeuvrability at low speeds is huge as well

There are two ways to play the F-4's effectively. One is to be a gremlin flying low and trying to flank to the rear of the enemy formation. Though this comes with the risk of accidentally finding yourself in the furball. The other is to climb high and snipe since you do have a good radar and very long range missiles. Great for clearing high altitude in support of your team. Comes with the added benefit of being able to orbital strike targets from above if you win the BVR fight. However, this comes with the risk of being focused and swarmed if you're the only person who bothered to climb (wish more people knew it's viable and not just assured death) and there are multiple opponents who climbed. Although, if you notice this, you can defend into your teammates, cashing in a little altitude for speed and agility before attempting to recommit.

Generally with the F4-S, I stay in pulse unless I get notched or see somebody flying away from me, the PD mode ignores chaff and ground clutter, but can only be used against targets that have a high relative speed, and combined with a medium range AIM-7F launch it's unstoppable

I recommend it (when it is at 50% discount), aim7 and 9 missiles are really good, same goes for the radar it has and the overall engine performance. Most matches I get 1 to 3 kills, 50sl to 100k sl (with premium), 5k to 15k exp (premium of course) and its a really enjoyable plane to flight. My favorite plane to fly for the last 3 months ❤

I bought this cause I have less and less time to play WT and immediately I am getting 1 to 2 kills and sometimes bombing a base. Average of 10,000 rp per game. I bring 4 9H and 4 7F with the 6 750 lb and 12 250 lb bombs which is just enough for one base so that it doesn’t affect my maneuverability that much.

5,000lbs of bombs gets 1 base in air rb, use 4 radar missiles and then enough to get 2 bases. I only have a6e tram but my f4j which is the same can carry 24 500lbs you can always drop 4 bombs for extra speed and drop 10 on each base. You should get 20-35krp for 2 bases and 1 air kill

Am I the only one who thinks that the prices of WT premiums is getting insane? Like that's in a similar price bracket to what the F4E in DCS is going to be, which is going to be a study-level simulator. Now, it's really good pricing for a study level sim for sure so it isn't entirely a fair comparison. But still, that's like a AAA game by most metrics and if you look at the content that it gets you- a slight variation on something that's avaliable for "free", it's a bit hard to justify. Looking at it completely divorced from the tech tree (as grinding to a rough equivalent jet does need a huge time investment) and more as a stand alone product, you do get an aircraft that can use a variety of weapon systems and has a reasonably well modelled, if very simplified, radar which is pretty cool. The model is nice but I can't help thinking that even in sim it doesn't feel hugely immersive. Then there's what you do with it- the obvious point is to air RB, but given the way matches are set up to encourage maximum action and somewhat complicated mouse and keyboard controls a new player is going to struggle, a lot. To the point where it would almost certainly put them off the game. EC and custom missions are a possibility, but they're also pretty clunky. So by itself other than mindlessly grinding the same kind of mission over and over there isn't much to engage with. Enough content to justify the price bracket? No, probably not. I'd justify maybe $30 for the aircraft as-is, for the complexity and depth of content that's avaliable for it, if I was being generous. The massive markup is obviously because it's to help you skip the grind of other high ranking US aircraft and I'm more and more really falling out of favour with that business model in general so maybe I'm being too harsh, but these kinds of prices combined with the grind feels predatory.

got the f4s now and i must say, they nerfed him in dogfights, radar really losses lock in many ways, ACM works sometimes, the thing in the helmet only works when youre less than a km from the enemie making it most of the times useless because aim9h cant turn that much, radar losses lock even with stable fighters, aim7 missiles sometimes explode 1km in with a perfect lock, this aged like milk xD. i tryed various radar settings and still it manages to not lock or losse lock even against a chuncky boy. Overall, if you use it to bomb youll have a great time :) the reward is good and dogfighting has a supportive role youll have to change the radar from Pulse Doppler and non PD to even do something with the aim7
