I Played the New Solo Leveling Game

Solo Leveling Arise is out on mobile and PC, and I finally checked it out for myself. The game has an action focus, it's flashy, but it also seems to have some of the usual gacha problems. We'll check out some game modes today and perhaps give you a further in depth look later in the month.

Game has massive spoilers once u end the job change quest. It goes until what i would think would be season 3 or even 4 of the anime if they keep the 12 episode format. Sung Jinwoo also has mote abilities cuz the game gives u weapon abilties for him, and not for the hunters. You'll unlock a second weapon for Sung jinwoo soon so that means you'll get ONE MORE ability. Gates also dont farm you up, besides level, and it would take a while for them to level you. You'll ALSO WANT TO FARM FOR STORY MODE, BELIEVE ME and that's all i have to say

Fun Fact: Just like Sword Art Online Rising Steel (R.I.P), this game introduced a lot of OCs to the world of SL. (Unlike Edith from that game though, they don't influence the story at all.) I personally think they look dope but it is a bold choice.

don't know if anybody told you before but definitely try not to waste gold if you don't plan on spending a lot of money since the gold prices get ridiculous after around chapter 6-7 so I recommend focusing on 1 team and not even spending a lot on them if they aren't SSR(some exception imo would be Park Heejin(great support) and Anna Ruiz(really good break) there might be others that I couldn't test yet but these 2 can keep up with SSR's) like leveling one team is manageable but you won't be able to have every character on level without paying a lot of money(atleast mid game don't know how generous they get in late/post game)

@@sss5 Okay so, the strat I used is Cha (x2 dupes and her weapon x1) + Min (x1 dupe) + Park (x3)/Dogsoo. Then I kept Moonshadow (x2) as its my highest weapon but leveled up West Wind in preparation. It was clutch but I managed to barely finish it. (Also I said I'm stuck at 16. I'm far from beating it?)

The average level 60-70 players won't be done with the story I can assure you. The difficulty ramps up significantly. If you think enemies would just be spongey, you'll be surprised. They'll 1-shot you if you're not careful. That being said, you can clear difficult stages if you play well, even when you're a little underpowered.

Unlike your typical gacha games, Rares and SRs actually have place in this game, both weapons and characters.

A quick tip for all you need to upgrade precision or advance weapons to increase the precision on them because that stat is what determines the amount of damage you can do in a threshold.

yeah... at least they spammed gifts until know so it feels somewhat fair but can't imagine how bad it would be without that but I usually don't enjoy gachas so don't know how generous they are(It feels bad imo since they make it impossible to continue without leveling which has a per day cap(only limited dungeon entries which is the only place to get exp outside story) but I think most mobiles games do that or something similar. Also the pop ups get really annoying also something most mobile(and even regular AAA) games do. So I don't think you miss out on anything(even gameplay is mehh).

I feel like discounting an entire game just because of the company that made it is an extremely shallow way of thinking. Try the game out for the first 2 weeks or so, and then form your opinions based around that. From my experience this game has been not even close to as bad as Netmarble's other games were around launch.

@@TheBoltMaster456 I would love to say great advise but I feel that it is a risk with gacha's like arise since a lot of people would waste a lot of money and just not even starting to risk it is probably smarter then I'll never pay for a gacha except if it's 100% f2p fair and even then I would only buy cosmetics but a lot of people fall for the disgusting microtransactions(which solo leveling arise definitely has later on) I enjoyed the game for The first 5 days (but only because we got a lot of free stuff probably) now 7 days in I'm at chapter 15 and to weak to progress(literally can't kill the enemies in time) so I'm forced to grind with dungeons for some exp and gold which I could have skipped by paying money(like getting the pack where you get like 1 million gold) being forced to wait is bad game design that makes me quit a game(not the first game that had fun gameplay but had dumb mechanics but still sad) so I think skipping this one would have been smarter for me(now I'm sad that I enjoyed the game and thought that it could have been the 3rd gacha I like)

Fun fact, the further you get in the game the more unique attacks past bosses gain, like one of the wolf bosses have warp gates they jump through, the combat slowly evolves with you.

I only played till chapter 9 because I don't want to get spoil and also it just becomes more grindy and harder as we level up and getting all 3 trophies in story mode, encore missions and instance dungeons is so hard that I had to try at least 5 times to get all 3.

Been playing this everyday since launch and i was wondering if you'd cover it. I love it but not sure if i'll continue after I beat the story. I hate to be that "created characters" guy but this game screams it and would've been better as a live service letting us play dungeons with friends as our own created hunters

The combat is great. If you are F2P you need to use every single advantage later on to beat some quests. The story and maps has you said is linear, I don't see a problem with that. They may need to add new stages which I'm sure they'll do in the future. Regarding combat, it is really epic and intense when you are barely the recomended power (or even slightly below) and beat the Boss of the quest with just 2 seconds to spare! You need to switch characters, use the abilities wisely, when you unlock shadows you need to use them wisely too, and everything gets hard

Oh, don't worry even normal will get rather challenging later on even if the main culprit is the timer. One important thing: only story missions let you level up. Every other mode just grants resources you have to manually use to get stronger.

no, gates are a huge chunk of xp and it takes 1-2 hours to spend your daily keys depending on how much you want to optimize it.

Yo I'll just lay you know the only good way to lvl up your character is to use the gates to grind you will need to lvl up as much as possible to get later into the story I'm already the shadow monarch and have igris and a shadow army and I'm past what's in the anime now I'm story and it gets really hard from there, getting different weapons are amazing because you can really turn this character into.your own version of it and its just so amazing and remember to also lvl up your skills I've had missions where I wasn't even able to defeat them and just by leveling up my special attacks I was able to beat it no problem

the game is very fun and gets preety challenging at times, its a shame the timer on bosses makes it impossible to complete while underlevel, and some levelgated stuff makes you wait irl time to get xp, but overall a cool game worth playing, try it out when you can

As someone who has been playing since Early Access, i have to say that this game has very strong fundations and that with (a lot) of QoL it can be a great game. But the most frustrating part to me is the lack of autotargeting. Even after you lock on to an opponent, it takes like a full second for you to start attack it instead of whiffing at the direction the character is facing. its extremely annoying, especially since the combat itself flows very well.

I've been saying that way before a anime was announced xd I think solo leveling sounds like a great mmo game it basically has all the fundamentals from a class system with sub classes to dungeons, level/gear system etc. but can't imagine that getting real since they went for the cheap money maker(I enjoy the game but it definitely is a mobile and gacha game...) who knows maybe some talented fans might make a mmo someday. that could be even better than a official one(since they couldn't charge any money and some fan project are way better just because of the heart in them(best example would be holocure)

You're not beating the story mode for like a month, sorry to tell you. The story mode is huge and u have 3 types of it: normal, hard mode and reverse mode. Im level 70, been playing it since it came out on the early acess and im on like chapter 14 of normal mode. Also, skills have different usages. You havent gotten to a point where u actually need to use different abilities for different encounters. attribute weakness matters a lot later on and so does Guard Break damage and wtv. The game just lets you take it easy early but it does gwt hard later on. The Igris chapter and beyond got me stuck for a bit cuz i wasn't using enough guard break nor was i maximizing the guard broken damage. U actually have to dodge and maximize damage later on or you'll get stuck for like 3 days. Also Precision and Agility are far better in the early game. Edit: Battlefield of Trials/Time and Power Destruction are your harder game modes for late-ish game. The game also resets 1am Lisbon time for dailies

Also Hunter Archives are just backstories not shown in the manwha or anime AND they're not based on the characters you pull, they're the same for everyone.

what happens after chapter 12(not story wise I mean gameplay)... I just got level 45(last mission on chapter 12) how do you need to get 25 levels for 2 chapters... I got mad because I had to grind for 3 levels to beat chapter 12 xd please tell me that you either made a typo or took your time and are really over leveled / they give you a great way to level up after chapter 12 I don't know if I'm invested enough for one chapter per 3 days+

@@CallMe_No_One I also got stuck on the beginning of chapter 13. I just didn't have any good artifacts nor were they leveled up. After I focused on artifacts I cleared it in like 2 days? I don't remember but I only got there after having my shadows and also upgrading them a bit, if u don't have them yet you're probably just a beast and beat the chapters too soon. They also reworked some encounters from the early access (I noticed cuz I was redoing some story chapters for the 3 star) so they might have nerfed some bosses? Idk. I know they nerfed Cerberus and the ice guy a lot but other than that idk

@@ragnarmeh8156 I've been grinding a lot since I couldn't play pre-release or the first 2 days after global release I've been doing a simple daily schedule of playing story until I can't progress(because of level requirement) then I did gates after that the encore/instance dungeons always doing the next harder one as long as I win in 10-ish tries(couldn't beat encore Giant Arashnid 7 today even after 10+ tries so I used my 2 keys on the one before that) and after that I do hunter archives and if I feel like it then I'll do the Battlefield of Trials until I'm bored. I currently spend between 2-4 hours daily(would have been more if they let me) I don't know how the "rankings" work(I know its based on the "bonus" challenges(like beat in x time or get hit with x or less attacks) which I tried to go for if possible) since they say I'm on place 23 which doesn't make any sense when there are so many people that played for way longer and payed a lot(I haven't yet and probably won't in the near future) would be nice knowing on what actual place I'm at out of every player(I'm also on place 21 for the cha event in overall which makes even less sense since I "only" got her twice)

Honestly the game looks good and fun however... This should of been a consol/pc game. I just don't think it works well as a mobile game I mean. It's automatically placed on the lowest graphic option avalible. The reaction time when you tap any option is pretty slow. The game plays all right but with the fumb controls a perfect dodge feels kinda difficult to pull off. I just personally feel ye his game would of been better as a consol game as a pc game. I'm sure pc gamers are having a great tien tho

Oh dont worry you wont be beating story mode. story is actually the main challenge of this game, so you have to really play it to get any way near the end. you should start feeling the spike in difficulty soon if you keep playing. not saying that i recommend it or not, just wanted to inform you cuz you seemed interested in story more. :)

Solo leveling arise is probably one of the most F2P gacha ever , The character mission you don't need the character like you said , All the character appear in season 1 besides the Shadows , the other characters are original with a very good design and combat. That dice event is amazing you get the SSR weapon and 15 Tickets guaranteed for free , you just need to play the game. This game is literally the opposite of OPM World The biggest disappointment in anime Gacha game oat.

I like gatcha games, but the show was so shit that this could be the best game ever and I still wouldn't play it. Generic ahh OP MC, terrible storytelling and plot-conveniences and non-interesting world/enemies/characters.

the story presentation is garbage, and only the jinwoo storyline is voice acted. i would recommend skipping it whether or not you care about the story.
