This is what makes Rick, Rick. Most guys at his level expect themselves to make birdies every hole and can’t tap into the joy the rest of us feel when we do get them. Rick is both an elite player, former pro, and a joyful weekend golfer.

Totally agree. That said, it doesn’t look like Rick makes too many of them so no wonder he’s as happy as us when he makes one. That’s why his videos are so good, though. Not often you can really relate so much to a pro golfer!

@@danielharrison8565 possibly, but it’s not like he tears up these courses he plays back here in the UK. Pretty sure he was like 10/11 over when he played Tommy Fleetwood at the JCB. Obviously, that’s way better than most of us amateurs would shoot but I think we always just assume that teaching pros are going to be really good but in reality that’s not always the case. Of course, some of them will be but I think it goes to show just how incredible these touring pros are.

Oh Rick, if I only knew you were coming to my turf! My wife and I play Palm Beach Par 3 almost once a week to feel like we take a mini Florida vacation. We have so much fun on this course. It can be so challenging at times. But it is one of the most well kept up courses in Palm Beach County. The people that work there are the best and so nice!! Based on what you said of having a busy week, you probably won’t have time or still be in the U.S. by Thursday the 29th when we have a reservation to play there, but if you did, it would be an absolute honor to have you as our guest to join us for golf and lunch!

Par 3 courses are FANTASTIC - I grew up playing Newport Beach Golf Course, you could go after work almost every day, lights until 9pm, taco tuesday and lots of new players. Smacking a 280 yd. drive on hole #4 and watching the locals gawk was worth the price of admission, but on top of that you really got to fine tune your iron game and putting, built me into a great player, that was 20 years ago and I'm still a single digit handicap

Welcome to my area Rick! Glad you got a moment to enjoy a bit of warmth before we have this cold front come through this weekend. I am glad you acknowledged the stark differences in the greens/and fringe grass here versus elsewhere... I have been watching your videos for quite some time since the lockdown for Covid began. I quickly noticed that some of the great ideas you had such as using your feet to help read the greens really helped but the grain of the grass could really negate or accentuate the initial reading. You should come to check out Sawgrass (in my area near Jacksonville, also the Disney courses in the Orlando area are in great shape (and the Magnolia - the signature course is reopening). Enjoy the stay! Maybe I will get to see you on the course sometime! I am looking forward to seeing Rick vs Rickie! Keep smiling Rick, and hit em straight!

Great video, special place, good fortune to play it in moderate wind, made many very excellent swings. Bermuda pitching tip, Play the shot from the top down, top line of the club, top dimple of the ball, forward shaft lean so the butt of the club is equal to the front of the ball, elbows maintain width through the shot, spin and cover. spin the handle with the top hand a bit at impact to create acceleration and cover the top dimple with the top line of the wedge clubhead. Key thought is the removal of the focus from the sole of the club getting under the ball, Top down, spin and cover.

Rick reading the grain can be difficult darker color up grain. I believe over the course of the day grain can shift with the sun maybe not as dramatic but similar to a sun flower. The grain can stop the ball going down hill and sometimes it seems the down grain pushes the ball and the trickle at the end can turn the pall to the grains flow. It can hold the ball straight against a slope or increase a break past expectation. Locals can help but I've seen grain make the ball break slightly uphill.
