Something you should know, White glint in ACFA, is YOU from AC4. Also in 5 and specifically Verdict day you can move every fast and you can even gain altitude and move fast, it's all a matter of relearning the movement system. nobody actually walks or just slides or hovers around in verdict day PvP, we're overboosting all over the place at all times, or hopping off walls at mach 5 at all times, stuff gets intense.

I have always held that while the souls stuff is derived from King's Field aesthetically, it is derived from Armored Core mechanically.

Armored core plays like this. boot up the game and complete the first few missions then get demolished by a enemy ac of a bunch off smaller enemy's, then go back to the shop and spend hours making sure everything works right and all the numbers line up then beat the mission and repeat the last two steps until you beat the game

ACV is pretty fair but in verdict day you can reach very high speeds close to 4! i've done it and a lot of times in MP i cant even get my lockbox on someones AC. also verdict day has the most banger OST of ALL the AC games fight me.

Energy problem in Nexus is not because of the generator. You overheat easily in Nexus and during overheating status your radiator then draining your energy to cool you down. So it's all about heat management.

5 and Verdict Day are quite literally the world adter For Answer where all NEXT tech users and Arms Forts are destroyed and humanity forced out of the skies, living on ground. Verdict Day's last boss is White Glint, and the guy conducting experiments is supposed to remind us of ACFA's Fragile. Otherwise we seen a return of livelier maps in gen 5 full of, the animations look badass. As an enthusiast of not playing ungovernable I didn't mind the lack of free flight with the change to how important terrain becomes on the player's traversal, but only one feature bugged me. Gen 5 did the Scan Mode thing, and it gave you energy output to switch to it, but I played all of it without realizing that part until my Xbox 360 decided to not work. I've also not gotten to try the multiplayer, but I've solo snuck into the group sorte whatever mode to try soloing those unidentified weapons in 5 and killed a few. A thing I thought was odds was the sidemission stories going on after the main campaign story in 5, fighting Men of Honor and the enigmatic Zodiac.

Not every one. I bought DS on release when a good chunk of the people shilling for it _were_ old FromSoft fans, and it almost immediately made me hop back into their earlier catalogue. Mostly their first person RPGs, but then I grabbed ACV on release as well. Only dove into the classic AC games recently admittedly. Actually I think the first Dark Souls, in a lot of ways, is the last "classic" FromSoft game before the whole vibe started to shift.

Master of Arena was my starting point in the series. I found it tough, but that actually kept me motivated to beat it. Killing Nine Ball Seraph felt like an accomplishment-though I hated having to fight Nine Ball so many times in the final levels.

Yep. Left stick for movement was introduced in AC2 Another Age and was available in 3 and Silent Line too. Also yeah 3 and silent line had the OP-Intensify optional part that replaces Human+.

V and VD, as someone who has played every AC game before it, were my favorites. V had my favorite "campaign" and level design of the series and VD was overall a good time. For a while I said FA, V, and VD were the best AC games but as time went on I went back to FA less and less. I play AC for the customization and interesting levels, something Gen 4 kinda was meh on for me for the former and kinda bombed on in the latter for the most part. That said, my favorites overall are VD, Project Phantasma, and Another Age. Also PS1's D-pad is fine. I never used the stick in AC until a few years ago, and only in Nexus afterwards. I will go through AC3 and SL with Dpad, easy.

Everytime with the “muh shit controls in gen1-3.” They were part of the game’s charm. They were meant to immerse you; to make you feel like you were controlling a super fast tank which, by the way, is what an Armored Core is supposed to be. I swear to god. They had these same control layouts from 1997 all the way up till 2010 with LR Portable (same controls but using an individual stick). You think that wasn’t intentional? Miyazaki, if anything, casualized the entire experience to cater to an American Market. Type A controls in Gen3.5 and the control layout from Gen4 did nothing but take away depth from the amount of footwork that was originally present within the series.

Technology has progressed with time, imagine still using the same ps1 controls when the analog stick exist(ac3/sl), or if the us government still used the same tech found on their older tanks to the abrams and refused to use more advanced components.

Silent Hill 2 had individual analog support, but it was still technically tank controlled. Individual analog support doesn’t negate the fact that tank controls were still present. Take into consideration that From Software could have easily converted to twin analog support coming into Gen2. We had games like Omega Boost with twin support on the DualShock 1 as early as 1999. That being the case, why would Fromsoft keep the same general control scheme from 1997 all the way to 2010 with the final portable version of LR if it weren’t entirely intentional? We can say that “muh technology has progressed” til the cows come home. But that doesn’t negate the fact that Armored Core kept the OG control layout unchanged to cater to a more immersive Mech simulation experience. Miyazaki’s attempts to modernize the AC experience did nothing but take depth away from the immersive and tactical aspects of the gameplay. And also, last time I checked Tanks today still have 12 pedals.
