It's been so much fun seeing a community come together and grow into an actual full fledged, active guild. Here's to many more adventures with the Philidari!

Don't listen to those who criticised you for being famous and play with your followers. One of the things made WoW so popular was its social complement. 20 years ago it was a game where you lived aventures while you met people in the journey. This social part has been lost slowly since Cataclysm, so having the oportunity to plat with a group of people who only want to have fun with you its probably one of the purest WoW experiences you could have. So glad you enjoyed and I hope you still enjoying the game much more! For the Alliance. For the Horde. For Azeroth.

I have been quietly hanging back hoping and waiting for a very slow paced visit to Mist of Pandaria. I am deeply invested in you seeing the Temples of the August Celestials. Tian Monastery (Jade Forest), and the Shado Pan Monastery (Kun-Lai). A long walk up the Windspire bridge to see the Cloud Serpents racing out of the Arboretum is majestic view. There is even an achievement to straighten the post the Orc broke off in the cinematic that the Pandaren (Chen Stormstout) replaced. And a tribute to Lonesome George, A turtle who was the last of his kind, in the form of Lon'li Guju, who spirit flies free on the norther beaches of Kun Lai. So much more to see and explore in game than game play!

Yeah, Pandaria is going to be awesome given Phillip's background. And the farm...he has to see the farm.

Hearing about your experience is actually closer to how it was when I originally got into the game. I had no closer friend group than my guild. We were constantly all hanging out and running both events, dungeons and just socializing.

Thinking about rejoining WoW after my break since 2017. Does your guild need a healing Shaman? 😅

Whats nice is it seems a lot of the 'negative' community left to Classic / SoD / CWotLK. Retail wow is kinda just a chill place again with casual players just vibing. (and an endless amount of Trade Chat bots)

Been watching ever since your reaction video to TWW while I was still attending BlizzCon. WoW has a bad rep for a toxic player base and it's really a case of the loudest voices getting too much attention. The exploration, the joy of playing with people who love the game too, nerding out over the lore, that is the real experience and watching you experience that has been pure joy. I've solo-ed mostly since WotLK. I have a group I raid with that's super chill once a week. Many types of players and many ways to play. Play how you want and always have fun! Love your vibe, love your analyses! Looking forward to more!

I totally get the "wanting to stop and look around in a dungeon" thing. You almost never think to look up in this game because the camera is always looking down from above, but one day i looked up in Ulduar and realized there was a whole element of the environment design that I'd been missing out on. Highly recommend going sight seeing.

Sorry I missed the fun last night, it's been a blast seeing someone so new to our game enjoying it so much. Watching you having so much fun has renewed my love for the game (not that it was gone but was waning a bit ) Our little community has definitely helped with that it reminds me so much of one guild in particular that I was in a long time ago. This has been a fun journey to be on with you and Aliyah (sorry if I spelled that wrong)

That and the quest on the horde where you are the quest giver handing out quests to various player tropes. I think it’s “welcome to the machine” at the entrance to…hillbrad maybe? “Yes my horse IS made of stars!” “Are there not bear asses to collect?!” That and following up with the NPCs later is pretty entertaining.

And it is how a lot of people play. This game was not meant to be played alone. The less toxic you are, the more people will want to play with ya. Enjoy it with everyone you can!

One thing to think about is the next expansion arrival day. The servers are always very crowded and people are mobbing the quest lines to get to the new area, sometimes causing various elements to crash up to and including servers. Still can be very fun and exciting (if you budget the time and don't worry about getting anywhere in a hurry). Blizzard is doing a new thing where they're offering 3 days early access which may or may not change how things go. Some people are fairly negative about it pointing out that a MMO involves a community doing things together and breaking up groups into people who can afford the upgrade and people who either can't or object to spending that much is divisive. I'm wondering if they're busy figuring out something to mitigate that.

I still play wow after joining vanilla a couple months or so before BC hit. I've loved it ever since. I do play other games as well - not MMOs but just games, but I still play wow a few times a week because it's comfortable and still fun. Plus I'm invested in my characters - still have the very first one I created way back when and yes she is max level. I don't raid seriously any more though (I did from 40 mans in vanilla up to Legion) but life/kids/job got in the way and I don't really miss it. It's just a nice place to explore and do 'stuff'. It's been great watching Phil enjoying the game as a newbie - reminds me how far we've all travelled and levelled and learned over the years.

I got to be honest. People who say play alone must be people who joined into the game after its social aspect was already dead and buried because to me WoW was its finest with playing with other people.

You said 'fiddle and pine trees' and I instantly knew it was Grizzly Hills. One of the best pieces of music in the game. Another song that needs to be experienced in-game is 'Nightsong', a night elf theme that I first heard in Ashenvale. The first time I heard it start up, I was running through Ashenvale on my way to Blackfathom Deeps; a lone Forsaken hunter approaching Mystra's Post and trying to figure out a way around without getting murdered to death. I stopped dead in my tracks and just listened to the song in its entirety, completely blown away all over again by this game that has since consumed my life. I found it online shortly after, and it's stayed a staple in almost every playlist I curate (especially workout playlists!) to this day.

I get why people criticize him. I think they are wrong for criticizing, when it should be no more than a notice or so "you experience the better way of playing wow. For most of us, it's a solo experience that's lacking in a lot of ways". I had my best experiences in wow when I played with my group of irl friends. I've still played it here and there (a month every xpac or so) even w/o them, but it gets boring really fast. And he states in the vid he understands the privilege of his experience, so...

I've missed a lot of the group stuff, it's about the time I have things happening (often my nap, just have to rest a lot). I've been leveling up my characters so I can run in the dungeons with you guys. We need to do a raid or two. I LOVE the Phillidari and how it's been running, this is an incredible group of folks. Someday I'll get my discord to talk to my headset and then my mic working so I can participate further with things. Phillip, you've been an amazing host and I've had a blast getting to know you and to get to participate like I have with everyone.

I remember the day I typed the /played and the sum of my 3 characters was 389 days, plus some more from a different account. 10.000 hours. 12 years ago I logged out, typed DELETE on my characters, uninstalled and I been sober ever since. Haven't joined the WoWers Anonymous (other online games) but I've been getting my fix from AAA single players or shitty indie games that only burn a couple of hours of your day. Buuuuuuuuuuuut. I still remember the feeling of discovering the continents of warcraft for the first time and the people I met along the way. WoW was a drug for me, a strong one. Today I regret a bit all the time I wasted but I'm glad I experienced the sensation of achieving goals as a guild, all the laughs, and the late night talks I had with a couple of people through Team Speak (no discord back then). I still talk to a couple of guild members 18 years after I met them online, hell, one of those know more about me than my irl friends.

As someone that has been playing since the beta, id like to apologize for those doing this whole “you need to play solo” narrative. Wow at its core was never a solo game if you want to experience all aspects. Granted a few of the middle expansions may have felt that way ever since they released classic they seemed to have realized going back toward that original core of Wow is the right move.

You can still get the "real WoW experience". Get your GF the game, play with her on a separate character. And make a video series about it. I bet it would get a lot of views.
